I have read The Magicians trilogy by Lev Grossman (aka the books that inspired my favorite show The Magicians). There are plenty of things to compare and contrast between the books and the show, and that is exactly what I do.

I just finished the show, I’m really upset they cancelled it. I didn’t love the ending only because I wanted more, I genuinely love it and I’m going to start it again, already lolol I started to read the first book but it’s kind of hard for me to get into for me personally just because I prefer the diverse cast in the show. It’s more relatable for me, I don’t know that I’ll finish them but I love the show!! Great review, thanks for sharing your thoughts♥️

Thanks, and I completely agree with everything! I am currently rewatching the show (for who knows how many times now) and rereading the books for the second time (plus the graphic novels). The show is so much better to me! But, there are scene of the book that actually seemed cooler than the show or were just never in the show.

The show is a richer experience, because it reconfigures a lot of plot elements and connects a lot of narrative threads that are present but isolated in books. I'd recommend reading the books to gain a deeper perspective on what an achievement the show is.
