Idk, I’ve always liked Penny but 23’s decision to make Julia human instead of a goddess was gross. He chose the option that would keep her available to him not the option she wanted. He made it seem like that was the only option to help her when they discussed it but that was a lie. The Binder said being stuck between being human and goddess was the problem. Having him make her a goddess again would have cured her just as well. Not only did he make a selfish choice about her body he then lied about it.

Julia, The Binder explained, would remain in a cycle of wounding, agony for millennia. Her body required transformation. The Binder needed direction: Initiate her long and arduous journey to full goddesshood or revert her body to that of a mere human?" Julia's body was trying to close the wound but it continued to tear itself open again, no matter how many times it's been treated. Her injury was heavily enchanted which seemed impossible to heal. So if she became a Goddess again, the pain would never stop. The Binder even said it would last a 1,000 years. Who knows how many years if not centuries it'll take Julia to recover? So it was that or become a human where all the pain would stop. It's a hard choice but it comes down to pain or mortality. I don't like Penny23 at all tbh but he made the most sensible choice. I think there's still hope for Julia to regain her Goddess powers. It's not over yet.

The Magicians Love if the wound would never heal as a full goddess then it would never heal as a human. An enchanted wound is an enchanted wound. Full transformation either way would have helped her, it’s being in the middle of the two that’s the problem, that’s what the Binder said. The Binder didn’t say the wound wouldn’t close if she were a goddess. Not at all. I just went back to watch the scene again. Penny chose what he wanted for Julia instead of what Julia would have wanted for herself. He’s trying to replace the woman he loved with this Julia. They’re not the same people. He then lied to her and told her it was the only option. I hope she finds out the truth somehow and holds him accountable. She’s not very fond of men taking ownership of her body.

Jason and Olivia have great chemistry. The Quentin and Alice romance should've been put to rest. As much as I adore them in the books, in the show it seems overplayed. I've changed my mind and opinions about them a lot. For one, them just hugging it out would've been a lot better than a romantic approach. They both still love and respect each other, but that didn't have to be translated into something intimate. In Season 5 she's going to be grieving Quentin, because even if the romantic part didn't happen, she'd still grieve the same way. She lost someone she cared for, it is in Alice's nature to dwell on it and let those self destructive thoughts consume her. It is like her to blame herself, especially a person she held particularly close, like Quentin. Back to the romance though, it's like forcing a racehorse to run on a broken leg, similar to show Quentin as a whole. It's better to put it out of its misery. I'm really excited to see Season 5 because Alice can get a chance to interact with the other characters. To me, it always felt like Quentin was a barrier between her and the rest of the group.

I really wish he ended up with Elliot they had a beautiful relationship and the last attempt of the Alice and Q relationship just felt forced like Alice was so selfish throughout there past relationship like Q deserved someone who understands him to his core like Elliot did.

@@Shamelessweb they only dated really in season 1, which ended bc quentin cheated. yes they hooked up a couple times in s2-s3 but they didn’t get back together until the end of s4. and how was alice selfish?

Totally disagree. Episode 4x11 spoke volumes about how Alice really felt. She told Quentin that no matter how bad things were between them in the future, nothing has made her as happy as him and that he needs to remember that when he goes back to the future. If the actor for Quentin hadn't left the show, they would have organically gotten them back together. Instead they had to be a tad more direct because he was leaving. But I also think they were going to develop a poly relationship between Quentin, Alice, and Elliot

It seemed kinda like they quickly forced them back together to make his death even more emotional. Their whole tone this season was going in the other direction then randomly they’re thrown back together so Alice could be the grieving widow.

@@stirlingarcher7972 They were going to get back together. It didn't happen. It made sense that Alice was with him to the end considering how largely this season has been based off the third book, The Magicians Land. The scene you see with Quentin & Alice confronting Evil Julia was similar to the last part in the book where Quentin literally becomes a God for a quick second and Alice helps him defeat two Gods. If they were going to kill his character it would make sense she would be with him when it happened. They had a happy ending in the books so why not give them no ending, is what the writers thought. Alice went through her redemption the entire season. Episode 11 was when it came to a close with Quentin being the final person she dealt with. From then on, again, they were trying to fix things. Nothing was forced.

The Magicians Love the show takes bits from the books but it left the books behind long ago. To even compare them with their book characters at this point is ridiculous. The characters on the show are very different and it’s so much better because of that. TV Q and Alice didn’t fit together anymore and haven’t for a while. Especially since Alice decided since she can’t trust herself with magic then no one gets to have magic at the end of season 3. The whole season showed they were done and had their closure. This seemed rushed. This season has been about Q basically being obsessed with getting Eliot back. To the point he saved the monster that was a danger to all of humanity rather than let Eliot be trapped for eternity with the monster in his body when he pushed him out of the way during the ‘peaches and plums motherfucker’ scene. This is a Q that lived for literal decades with Eliot, raised a son with him, shared grandchildren with him.
