Nah, Old Gods are beings that maintain order and chaos. Tricky business, that's why they hired a secretary to do the bigger talk to others.

@@Michael-zt9ikIn Fillory Ember and Umber are the gods of whimsical chaos and rigid order. And their opposition created Fillory. The old gods according to Alice appeared at the beginning of time. And according to the monster are intangible thought creatures. So they might be literally the concepts of the universe. Similar to the Greek Protogenoi and Endless from Neil Gaiman series.

On one hand the old gods are so disinterested but Hades made sure Penny didn't leave the underground.... Something we might be missing here... And 40 totally made sure 23 would run with Alice once the moment came. Hmmm ??? season 5 should be 22 episodes.

Azrael666Azazel The old gods are the creators of the universe. Even if you use Greek Myth as the basis for many of the gods in the Magicians. In Greek Myth Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades didn’t create the Sky, Seas, or Underworld they simply ruled it. Hades might be a stronger god than a typical one like a Renard. But the old gods don’t interfere with humans like ever. Even the gods barely almost never see them.

I agree. The biggest problem that I have with the show, is that the tone shift so drastically from season 1 to season 2 where they kind of DEET owned the beast to be this comical character and they brought in that god-awful musical number for season 2. Which for me was a complete bummer since that first musical number in the first season actually had a point in meaning (to get Penny's attention because he's a psychic and a traveler). But I really think that season 3 and season 4 had potential. I personally would have focused more on timeline 40 penny in season 4 rather than the group. If I was one of the riders I would have had season floor be mainly a buddy cop type of season with TL 40 Penny and maybe Alice? This show had so much potential but the whole saving fillory story arc got old after season 3.
