Know that this was 2 years ago, but just in case others have this issue, I would go to the Tribunal in her diocese. They are the ones that decide if a marriage is valid or not. Definitely go through the proper channels.

Vatican II Lumen Gentium: “in view of conciliar practice and the pastoral purpose of the present council, this sacred Synod defines matters of faith and morals as binding on the Church only when the Synod itself openly declares so.”

Thank you Father! If you read Joy of the Gospel, the opposite seems true. It is not that we are so intrinsically good that we do not need instructions. We are just hopless sinners, nothing but concupiscence: too weak to follow, to stupid to understand... That was also the answer of few priests( including one on national radio), that I asked why american catholic church doesn't teach moral law anymore . As suddenly, in the sixties we all became too weak to follow ...and too dam to understand? And no one was struck with idea, that it is just idiotic assumption? But many idiotic ideas were pushed in sixties not only in Catholic Church. We know them by their fruits. 80 % Catholics do not attend mass...Catholics are crushing like everyone else: addictions, divorce, contraception, abortion ...getting fatter and sicker by a day... just unintended consequence? How perfect for some. Didn't they plan this way? The frankffurt schooll, population control believers among others? What happened to catholic prudence? We just buy all this lies instead of confronting them, following our tradition? Allowing our families to be destroyed in the name of being nice? We need you Father more than ever now! Fasting is much easier that we think if you start from ketogenic diet. It was common diet until sixties, when sugar and grains were pushed as a fuel. Another idiotic idea. To destroy man, and look around, they did it : fifty years later everyone is obese, prediabetic or worse, epidemics in all degenerative desise are literally getting worse by a day...millions of american's are suffering and dying as never. By 2032, 50 % american babies will be born with down syndrome if things are not stopped. And as goes America, so goes the world. All this suffering and death can be stopped simply by fasting. We used to have 86 days of fast every year not because Chris tried to kill all his followers. In fact the opposite was true: catholics were strong and beautiful like diamonds. And now science catch up with religion. Fast is the greatest healer not just for the soul but for the body. Dr. Fung in Toronto heals the most advanced diabetes just in month by fasting. So is true for obesity, cancer, heart disease, dementia, .... And it is natural law obligation to master virtue of fasting. Let's be serious Catholics and there is a huge reward not just in Heaven but in immediate, temporal live.

So Vatican II is not fallible but we have to follow the parts that are ok and not the parts that are. We have to pick and choose because there are things in there which has been declared prior to the council as infallible. So the right attitude to have towards the council is I accept what is in conformity with the traditional teaching of the church and reject the rest? If that is the correct understanding of your teaching, where do I go to know the difference. I am not habilitated or knowledgeable enough to know the difference. In the past I went along with stuff in Vatican II that I thought was the infallible teaching of the church and I was wrong and it caused me to deviate from faith and morals. Now I treat Vatican II with the « index rule » that the Church had which says according to my basic understanding of it, if there is a book, a film, music ect which, even if it has 90% of things correct, I stay away from the entire thing. I choose that attitude because I will never be able to make the difference between what there is wrong in there. But I know enough, however, to know that I am on dangerous grounds for my faith and morals. As an example I never knew that in matters of « moral » the Church was infallible. I am from Canada and we had still do have the Winnipeg Statement » Nd so the teaching that I got on contraceptives were totally opposed to the infallible teachings of the Church. But I had bought into that. If I did it in one area I know that I am probably vulnerable in other areas. So as prudence I stay away from Vatican II and went back to tradition, even in disciplinary matters. That is as far as I can go. The reason why I mention discipline is because I try to choose what requires more mortification then not. But every day I pray « if I am not in your grace Lord, guide me to it and if I am, please keep me there. Therefore if I am wrong in my attitude towards Vatican II, please advise. Another example in my diocese is Amoris Laetitia. My Bishop, and he is an ex-president of the Conference of Bishops in Canada, is going around and promoting it. I opposed it openly and he is asking me « if I am still catholic ». God bless.

I went back to tradition too. I don't try to figure out what's going on in the Church today any more. It's obvious to me what's wrong. I just ask that my will be His will every day and that I never be separated from Jesus.

Leonardo's Truth So there’s two different responses to that. 1. Your lack of nuance and pretending that the Church has never had periods where heresy needed to be sorted out properly is why this era we find ourselves in is such a stumbling block to your faith. 2. The strawman that you just presented in this comment is not what was said in this video. 3. I will not respond again. I pray you come back to the Church. Go to an FSSP or IoCtK parish, pray, mortify. etc. God Bless

« Is Pope Francis Catholic? » I don’t know him. He is Pope of the Catholic Church, I take for granted that he is because otherwise he would not be Pope. I don’t know much but I don’t think that a non Catholic can be Pope. He says a lot of stuff that don’t sound catholic and even of what I know ( and that is not much) that is not in line with the cathechisme, like « Amoris Laetitia ». I went to the Baltimore cathechisme and it says the contrary. So to me that would not be in line with the cathechisme but my Bishop says the contrary. Then he says that « the death penalty is inadmissible in every situation ». Heu! I’m a lawyer. So that would mean that I can never ask a judge to condemn someone to the death penalty.??? My little research on the matter is that all authority comes from God. That a state Exercices the authority of God on earth, whether he knows it or not. This, the first time I went before a judge in a case, I felt the power that God invest a judge. It is awesome and I understood why we are required to be very respectful before a judge. So the question is the following: has God transferred his authority of life and death to the state of his authority on this? Well I don’t know but I understand that the Church has always recognized that the state had and that is even the case in the Old Testament. This being said I would have to conclude that the Pope is wrong because not in line with what the Church has always held. But maybe because I am ignorant in theology, there is something that is missing in my understanding. Or the Pope was just giving his opinion and not speaking as Pope. But how do I know? And how do I get the answer? My Bishop will be in line with it. Priest A will say that he is not in line with it while another priest will be in line with the Pope. I follow a little rule in those matters and that is what I have decided to do with Vatican II, the Pope and My Bishop. I put them at « index »...danger to my faith because if God wants me to adhere to something it will be clear and precise. So I stick to the cathechism and I try to stay away from my Bishop and the Pope. I always enjoy your teachings. But you said that there were no documents in Vatican II that were infallible execept what was declared so before Vatican II. I had started theology courses and after listening to this video I quit because my Professor was teaching that certain documents were and I was learning them as if they were. This being said, « is the Pope Catholic »? I think he says a lot of uncatholic things and I don’t trust him and Lord have mercy! A nun thought me that it is a sin to read bad books especially those who are a danger to our faith, and that also includes speakers and conferences. So I think it would be a sin to listen to what that Pope says...so I stay away and change the channel as I would do if it were a porno film. This « pastoral » thing, I don’t buy into it from maybe a professional deformation. The doctrine is the law, the pastoral is the implementation of the law, as the regulations in law is suppose to reflect the law. With Pope Francis, there seems to be a dichotomy in this regard. Good sense tells me that one cannot cannot have a law and a regulation that is contrary to it, as in Amoris Laetitia. What I find very difficult now is that we all have to be theologians to be a Catholic today. I just put my faith under the protection of the Virgin and I pray St Michael and the Holy Spirit to keep me in line and when I’m not to open my intelligence to it. So you see if Îm in left field here please show me and thank you. God bless.

Suzanne, I am sorry, but your comment was difficult to navigate. No Pope can teach anything contrary to established Dogma. To be an infallible statement, there are certain extremely limited conditions that a Pope adheres to. He can (and PF frequently does) speak his personal opinions, and imo, many of those contradict Church teachings--or at least seem to. Also, imo (in my opinion), he speaks with such extreme vaguity that it is very problematic. We need another Pope Leo XIII, or Pope St. Gregory VII ) Hildebrand.

@@michelleishappy4036 I si agree. A new and holy Pope we will have. Right I think we are going through Tribulation/Purification as revealed at Fatima, Akita, ND de la Salette, and our Lady of Good Success oh Quito Equador. 🙏
