I set out to find the main differences between the free version of ChatGPT and the paid version. There's quite a few, primarily all the tools that are available with GPT-4. But I did find a way to make your own Custom GPTs with ChatGPT free.

The free version of ChatGPT does have chat history. I believe you have to sign in with an account and it remembers all your previous conversations. You can even click on those convos and carry on where you left of.

How does the Secret API key work? Are they unlimited when you are a Plus user? Or when an application uses your API key, it counts towards your 30 requests/hour? And there is no distinction on the type of request, correct? A prompt that requires analyzing an image is the same as asking it a yes/no question? I have some pdf scans, that I'd like to try Chat-GPT4 Vision on to see if it can OCR the tables and export to a csv.. however, it seems I'll have to sign up for the $20/mo to see if it works. Any thoughts on Perplexity Pro (Also $20/mo)? PDFChat? Or perhaps free AIs tools that might work with API and image analysis? For example, Google's CopyFish or Gemini Pro Vision? Also doesn't Bing's CoPilot use ChatGPT4?

So the API key is different than being a Plus user. There are 3 options if you want to use their GPTs: 1. Free version of ChatGPT 2. Paid version of ChatGPT 3. Developer account (you get a secret API key to use in your web apps) For your specific use-case, I think the best option is to pay for ChatGPT plus and then create a Custom GPT that will perform your PDF task. Yeah, it's definitely better with GPT-4 compared to GPT-3.5-Turbo. But, GPT-3.5-Turbo does have its benefits: 1. Faster to generate text 2. You can use it for free 3. Cheaper than GPT-4 (if you're using the API)

@@WesGPT when you say better, do you mean the construction of the summaries and the depth and accuracy are improved between the two versions?

i wrote in custom instructions that i am not interested in disclaimers and it should never write anything regarding that. i still get useless disclaimers most of the time. same as that every letter should be written in lowercase, it completely disregards those instructions

Hi. Bing Chat by microsoft is free and better then 3.5. Bing Chat also has no cap as far as i know. It is based on gpt 4. Bing chat has not GPTs, it has no code interpreter, it has only a worse version of gpt4-Vision which is not so helpfull, it has not as many plugins available as chatgpt. Bing chat has dalle 4 acess as well. Bing chat is not jet using the turbo model but might change in the near future. For most task bing chat is good enough. I wonder if the best option is to use bing chat for most task and if you need advanced capabilitues switch to using the open ai api. But then you need to create your own chat inteeface which might be less good as the original but you only pay what you need. I expect you could save some money that way and never run out of high quality gpt 4 turbo access.

@@factorydude8102 Ahh, I see what you mean. Yeah, that's a BIG PROBLEM when trying to program. Their new upgraded Team plan has a 80 message/3 hour limit but still very low. It's the price you pay for using GPT-4, I guess.

dude the free gpt shows you all of your previous chats in the left column the same as the paid. you should use the free for a while before creating incorrect videos
