The amount of LGBTQIA+ representation in this show is such a gold standard. The coming out scene reminded me of how I came out to my parents last year. I came out to my parents the day before my 20th birthday and boy it was perfect. I can proudly boast to people that I have a mother like Sarah Nelson.

Same!! I very much relate to Nick being bisexual (and feeling the same about Pirates of the Caribbean lol) I’m very fortunate and lucky that my mom (and dad!) took it so well and were so understanding. So so happy that Heartstopper is out and able to help tons of people. Wish I’d seen this a couple years ago because I probably would’ve figured things out sooner in regard to my sexuality! Netflix’s Never Have I Ever is what motivated me to come out to my mom, we watched it together when one character came out to her mom and I felt ready and told her. I feel like I had my own Nick Nelson moment 2 years ago and it was very sweet. It’s so important to have representation and scenes like these because it can make the rest of us feel less alone. Can’t wait for season 2!! I’m hooked on Heartstopper❤️

It took my dad some time to accept it when I came out when I was 27 (I have a disability so I was still living with my parents at the time). He’s maybe not so much a Sarah Nelson because he asked me if it was just a phase I was going through because I was lonely. However, over the years he has changed his mindset a bit and he’s much more accepting of both me and my boyfriend (who I’ve been dating for 3 years). I feel lucky.

I don't know if Netflix realizes how lucky they got with Heartstopper! This is THE MOST SPECIAL SHOW!💗💜 The fact that so many ppl all around the world had similar reactions to it can tell u how this show was able to touch us in a way no other show or movie was able to ever. I still can't believe this was the first time a show made me feel like this. All the feelings n emotions n butterflies I used to love to feel came back but this time with optimism n hope of a happy ending or beginning. It finally allowed us to completely feel the emotions we used to repress. I said what everyone's saying- Why didn't it come out when I was in high school?! But I'm grateful for this show cuz it brought back (or gave us) the feelings we were robbed of years ago. I felt soooo good watching it! It took too long to happen but I'm grateful we got to feel this feeling cuz of Heartstopper.😌💗💜❤️💛 I'm so happy for the que er kids who'll get to see this n know that it's okay to dream about love n they deserve to be loved n be happy. Heartstopper is providing the optimism, that I know i didn't have when i was in school, to those kids. This show is always going to have a special place in my heart.💗💜

This was truly *the most accurate* book to screen adaptation I've seen in my entire life! They literally took exact dialogue from the book and inputted nearly all of it into the show, which you rarely ever see. Netflix is definitely renewing this for a 2nd season - they're just teasing us so that when the news is finally released, we rejoice that much more lol!!

This show genuinely means the world to me. As a young bisexual person I relate to Nick so much, and this show has helped me feel more comfortable in my identity and who I am as a person. I’ve never felt represented in the way I felt watching heartstopper for the first time, they truly take the time to show what it can be like figuring out your sexuality and coming to terms with that and I think that’s pretty special, let’s hope for many more seasons down the line!

Them saying the importance of showing that two gay kids can grow up simply having a good time in media shows all the kids watching they can have that, is so amazing! Growing up with tv and movies always showing the queer characters as comedic relief or single, or drowned in trauma and tragedy made it so difficult to accept being queer and made it easy to accept any kind of love we got because we truly were never told or shown we deserved more or better. This show makes me cry so much realizing the young generations don't have to go through that and hopefully this inspires more tv and movies of just happy sweet fun queer stories full of diversity and representation.... thank you everyone for this amazing show!!

What I loved most about this adaptation is that every depiction of love was celebrated with joy, and I think that’s so so important for kids today to see. As much as we need to educate everyone about the hardships and realities the lgbtq+ community faces, it’s also important to show that at the end of the day, love is love, we all deserve it, and every form of it needs to be respected, appreciated, and celebrated. Thank you to everyone who worked so tirelessly on this, but especially to Alice Oseman for the privilege of letting us be part of Nick and Charlie’s journey. I can’t wait for more

The fact that I have already seen Heartstopper six times is not different from the reaction that this production has had in the whole queer community, but if I tell you that I am in Bogota; and that I am 67 y.o. This shows that it has affected far beyond the original target. I wish I had something remotely like this when I was growing up. In my case, it was at the movies that I realized I was gay in 1968 attending a function of Camelot when I fell head over hills with Franco Nero and his character, something that I keep as a secret for like ten more years, that is why I liked that scene where Nick and his mother are choosing a movie to see and Nick pass his eyes so slowly from Keira to Orlando, that scene that nobody has commented so far made me cry like for the thousand times when I first saw the series. Thank you to Netflix and everybody in the production; The Director, the author, the set designers, the creators of the doodles, the music, and the cast, especially to Kit and Joe.

I'm an out & proud 55 year old queer cisman, who grew up in a strict, homophobic Mormon family in Los Angeles and was in high school during the 80s AIDS epidemic. Just like that film's LGBTQ consultant, I too was robbed of the experience of seeing LGBTQ love stories. I was sent to conversion therapy and programs where they taught us how to be straight... Play sports, ask out girls, etc. We were told that if we married a woman we'd be "cured". The whole thing was so abusive, that I suffered years of depression and was often suicidal. On top of that, my entire family shunned me, for 20 years now. They refuse to reconcile, but I don't want them back... I've found a family of friends who love me for me. ❤️ Because of all that trauma, his show has meant SO MUCH to me! I've watched it over & over & it feels so right. I still cry every time... Hell, I even cry just thinking about scenes from it! It helps me MOURN what I've lost & never had, but it's incredible beauty, art & love ALSO helps me HEAL with every viewing. It gives me hope for LGBTQ youth & also the possibility that I'll find my own Nick or Charlie. It will ALWAYS be a favorite program, and I'm SO grateful for Alice, Euros, Kit, Joe, Olivia and ALL the rest of the outstanding cast, dedicated crew & Netflix for bringing me something I never knew I needed, but has meant SO MUCH to me! (and seriously, Kit Connor deserves an Emmy!) Thank you, thank you, thank you! 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲 ♥️💚💙💛💜

I've seen heartstopper five times in the last week, and I'm confident that I'll keep watching it whenever I have free time. This was the first series about which I became hooked, which is unusual for me because I've never preferred series' to movies. For the past 15 years, I've assumed I'm straight, but watching Heartstopper has me torn about my sexuality, especially because of Nick Nelson; I'm not sure if I want to be friends with him, be with him, or BE HIM. Something about Nick's coming out scene makes me feel strangely relieved, as if I completely relate to him questioning if he's bi. I'm not sure why I'm venting in a public comment section, but I'm grateful for this series, and who knows, maybe in a few years I'll realize that I really am bi. Enough with the drama, I'm hoping for a Season 2, I've already finished the webtoon in one sitting and listened to Alice Oseman's other works!

Watching this made me so emotional. A show about LGBTQ+ people made by LGBTQ+ people is one of Netlix's highest rated shows ever. It's very bittersweet for me because being a 31 year old gay man, I didn't have this kind of representation on-screen growing up. To see such a positive, uplifting show about two boys falling in love, and one coming to terms with his sexuality makes me so happy that young LGBTQ+ people are starting to get more and more representation. Such a wonderful show.

I can’t even express how deeply i have been touched by this show. I did not get the chance to grow up like this. Watching this show in my 30-s and realizing that brought up so many emotions. I cried about 20 times…

The production of this show is phenomenal. I didn't expect so many members of the cast to be LGBTQ+ or for them to have a consultant, but I'm so glad they did it the way they did. It means a lot. :)

Heartstopper is definitely one of the most beautiful visual experiences I have been able to appreciate in my life and as much as I keep repeating to watch the whole series I can't get enough of it, every scene is satisfying, beautiful and you can feel that connection with each character and it makes you love them instantly ❤️

The reason why I love heartstopper so much is because I can truly relate to their story (especially Nick's side), this show really gave me joy and hope into discovering myself more and being free to who I truly am. I hope this gets a season 2 bec I've read Alice's books, volumes 4 & 5, and it tackles issues people can relate to

the cast is amazing but i really just want to brag about how well kit connor portrayed nick nelson and his journey about how confusing it is to figure your sexuality out is just spot on i felt it so hard his acting really just stood out to to me, so much emotion to his facial expressions to the way he would express himself in the show soo natural and authentic you could tell he had experience, i wish this man well he is seriously talented!! :))

The ripples Alice’s Story has made through this show for not only newer generations but also the immense and powerful healing it has brought to past ones is such a gift!!! Plus to see that the shows creation was made with such care and sensitivity with lgbtqia+ creators, artists, directors, etc. voice’s to be heard through it??? Just blows my mind and is so so sooo beautiful and healing to see! 🌈💚✨

I just love how deep they went. While watching Heartstopper, I felt like I was represented and even more important the vibe the show had made me feel like I was in a safe space. I read the books before the show came out, and while reading it I was always so excited and loved each part of them, and with the show I felt the same excitement. The amount of detail that the show has, just make me feel so good. Loved the show🥺💖🌈

As a graphic novel reader, the show still amazes me until this very moment. It amazes me how well-adapted the book is, how well-translated each element from the book is. The depiction is just very well-pictured, the cast are AMAZINGLY on point, everything is perfect! I'm on my 4th time rewatching the series and it just doesn't get old. It's such a grower, the more I watch it, the more I love it. Thank you for making this series ❤️❤️❤️

Watching this made me almost as emotional as the show itself. I wonder if something like this had been available to me as a teen in the early nineties, maybe I wouldn't have waited to come out until I was nearly forty. This show and all of the beautiful people involved has begun to heal me in ways I didn't know were possible.

Heartstopper shows the possibility that I might have deserved happiness that I didn't believe would exist when I was a don't-wanna-be-gay teenager hidden in closet, terrified. I wish that younger me could have seen this show then but even now I feel the remnant of my pathetic teenage self in me relieved so so much. I cannot thank enough to EVERYONE involved in creating the show. Thank you so very much.

This really makes me happy. I give so much credit to Alice for creating this because the show feels like the books come to life even with the license that had to be taken to tell the story on film. She really found a way to speak to today’s generation while redeeming some of the experiences that those of us who are a bit older have had.

I love how they tell and represent the story of LGBTQI+ characters without leaning too much to promiscuity like other netflix shows. Just pure form of attraction that we all first felt when we were in our you ger years. The casts bring so much out of their characters, and you just can't help but to love each and everyone of them.

This show has honestly changed my life, and I have so much thanks to give to Alice Oseman and the other people who made this show possible. The cast and the characters make me feel so accepted and content, and honestly sometimes the only reason I get out of bed in the morning. I am Bisexual, and seeing Bi and other LGBTQ representation in a show for a young audience is an amazing things that not a lot of people have the luck to experience. It really has helped me through such hard and tough times, and the characters and plot is just beautiful. A million thanks to Alice and everyone else involved in making this show possible ❤
