Hey guys just a quick NOTE: i meant to say there's THREE live versions of When The Levee Breaks instead of 2, my bad! Also, i think i mentioned Chuck Berry when it's Little Richard. These Post Covid side effects got me confused, sorry about that! Enjoy the video!

@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories yeah that will definitely help. I got my generator from the silver edge. We've been using colloidal silver for skin care, mouth care and my new found post covid wheezing and coughing. You can also make a generator DYI. don't believe the naysayers, you won't turn blue. Just like you won't turn into a dubious food product by listening to hot dog. Yes, I recommend the Seattle match 21 version of dazed for nebulizing and root canals. I don't know where you young guys spring from but I'm 68 and African American and a bass player. The quality of musical information here is simply astounding and this was well put together. Your information is more than credible as it makes musical sense even when you are unsure. I indeed look forward to seeing more of these. There is also a chronicling of Jimi Hendrix career on a month by month basis that's almost as informative as this but worth watching. Keep up the excellent work!

Hey Vincent, this is a one man team JCM Studios, so i thank you very much for your kind words! I am a musician as well, so the perspective of playing the instrument helps in coming up with the scripts! Hope you enjoy the rest of the series and the channel. I saw the Hendrix one you mention, but i suspect that is made with A.I meaning a fake voice...i've spotted some funny errors on their scripts. Working these videos is hard, nothing is automated but worked from scratch :) Thank you for watching! Stay tuned for Episode 3 coming up!

@volkspanzer831 With all the stuff I wrote your own personal animosity went straight to the fact that I pointed out that I was black. It's your kind of thinking that keeps African Americans in droves away from white Rock concerts. I also pointed out my age and that I was a musician. That of course you ignore. Obviously black people bother you. This is the last time I'm going to say anything nice about white musicians. Black people don't act this ridiculous! No more white groups. You've changed my mind.

Boogie With Stu was the first song recorded at Headley Grange; when Ian Stewart brought the Stones Mobile Unit down, they set everything up and did a quick test recording to make sure it was ready to roll for the sessions, and that test recording is what became known as Boogie With Stu

To me, it's incredible that they only worked at Headly Grange for a week. It seems impossible to have put down so much impactful music in such a short time. Watching the Official Video for Battle of Evermore, the band puts up images of the tape box. According to the box, Robert plays the guitar. According to the engineer and Jimmy, he recorded Jimmy messing around with the mandolin. According to the deluxe set CD, the instrumental mado/guitar mix is the Headly Grange mix, suggesting Robert added the guitar while there. Perhaps as something to figure out lyrics to. The final version is different, with the introduction spliced back in as a break that Robert riffs to.

FWIW, on Levee, Andy Johns eventually took credit for that drum sound. I remember reading about it about 10 years ago just after he died. Basically, the band went to dinner and he and Bonzo hung back and worked out that sound. Nice work again my friend.

As usual great vid, thanks. Sandy Denny left Fairport in late 69 before Full House was recorded & rejoined for 2 albums, Live Convention in 1974 & Rising for the Moon in 1975. Fairport were recording a live album at the LA Troubadour on 4-6 Sep 70. On the 4th, after playing the LA Forum, Led Zeppelin appear with Fairport Convention at the Troubadour and play an almost three hour jam session. Set list includes songs like “Hey Joe” and “Mystery Train.” Peter Grant took the tapes & they've not been heard since. Great episode! There's been all kinds of theories about When the Levee Breaks and its recording process floating around, but I think your explanation of it makes the most sense. I've also heard some of those bootleg recordings of their live performances of it in 1975, but I've always wished for better sound quality from them. FWIW, Jason Bonham plays it all the time on his Led Zeppelin Experience tours and does a pretty good job of it live. Also, JPJ did a bang-up job of both that song and Going to California on his tour, based on the clips of those performances here on KZfaq. Hearing his rendition of Going to California on mandolin has actually given me a desire to learn the instrument myself.

Not sure if you've had a chance to view @JB_Eckl in his rundown and theory of the guitar parts on When the Levee Breaks but it's mind boggling. Great job as always José. Though I find almost Impossible to chose a specific Zepp album as a favourite, the fourth álbum keeps a special place in my heart. It mix all the precedent experiments with acoustic, blues, heavy and antecipates things they would do in a next future with a sense of poetry, depth and perfeccion rarelly seen. Also all the tracks are master pieces . And Even the "weaker " Zeppelin tracks use to be better than the majority of other bands work, there's no place for weaker track here, only 8 perfect songs. Great work Jose! I really found your analysis on guitar tuning interesting on When the levee breaks. I have always played it in open G but while the notes were there, it always felt wrong to me sonically. I think you are right that the string tension is unlike what he used for the recording. A little known fact that I can share is that Jimmy also used a Binson Echorec through early live Zeppelin shows. What's interesting is that both the Echorec and the Echoplex delay effects had a great preamp drive contribution that is key to Jimmy's live sound. While these two delay pedals give a different drive characteristics both are really nice and compliment very well a humbucker to Marshall plexi amp.

Try Levee in Open E, you'll love it, i'm sure. Oh man the Binson Echorec you are right, that gave Jimmy that extra preamp sound that i REALLY like up to 1973. Page's sound before 1975 was so agressive. Revisiting the tours for these videos, i am still in AWE. Thank you for watching! Stay tuned for Episode 3 coming up!

The few pictures that I have seen of Jimmy's rig with the Binson Echorec were around the time of the Royal Albert Hall gig and a bit after so circa 1970 - 1972 by the time we get to MSG TSRTS he seems to be using the echoplex at that stage. There are a couple of modern pedals (have both actually) that you can get for both preamp sounds Dawner Prince Boonar (Echorec) and Chase Tone Secret Preamp (EP3 Echoplex). Page's live sound 1970 to before 1975 was fabulous. Agressive, not too distorted and really cuts through. The amp has to be set at the threshold from clean to dirty and these two echo units preamps are the key to adding just a touch of extra gain and sparkle.

I'll never forget the feel of my first electric guitar and a friend letting me borrow his complete Zeppelin tablature for guitar. 'Rock and Roll' was one of the first riffs I learned and remains one of my favorites. It's so much fun to play and sounds great. Exact same riff, just jumping up and down the second fret like the rungs on a ladder.

Another great series with impressive research--thanks JCM. Will have to rewatch several times to catch all the musical note explanations. Loved the intro theme song too--the middle part reminds me of Santana :) Sorry you got sick. I have long COVID breathing problems too, so I get it. Sorry for your COVID breathing problems, just today i experienced some while doing some errands, it really sucks. Your question i hadn't thought about it because of the limited information on it. BUT, as a musician who thinks they didn't steal the song, i can definitely do an interesting video essay on why SPIRIT didn't INVENT the song either lol. Thank you for watching! It's not that Jimmy has refused but a musician should interview him like...BEATO style you know? Not being afraid of the guest AND doing one's homework. If i had the chance i would ask him for sure.
