While Lil Pump climbed the charts last year with his breakout hit “Gucci Gang,” the official video stirred up controversy after news surfaced that it was shot in a Catholic elementary school. The Archdiocese of L.A. was furious with the school for allowing Pump to shoot a video that depicted images of drugs, and the story was picked up by broadcast news outlets.
The rapper embraced the backlash on his song “Designer,” incorporating samples from the news reports. The track dropped this past December and has since raked in over 32 million Spotify streams. The producer behind the song is noted beat-maker Zaytoven, who has also worked with everyone from Migos to Nicki Minaj to Future to Travis Scott, among others.

I think they made a powerful choice having Zay deconstruct this, cause there’s a lot of beef between lyrical and mumble rap, and this shows that pump may mumble, but he knows what producers to use. I myself am not a fan of mumble rap, but I do think there should be less hate towards it, so good on you genius.

Shawty Lo I’m the man and Yung Joc Couple Grand were the two songs preach based off of, preach was a direct sample, tote a glock by Gucci sounds inspired off of that beat . Lots of songs from Atlanta have this beat. I ain’t complaining tho this beat us sick as hell
