I think they taste like sweet potato x with pumpkin pie. My tree here in the Yucatan just came in season. It's almost 60 ft. tall just started new leaf flush after dropping all leaves loaded with fruit.

You should try to make a drink out of it, typically mixed with some sweetened condensed milk/ or milk with brown sugar, rum, ice and filled up with milk. You can add a hint of cinnamon if you like. Fruit flesh freezes well. Can be made into nice icecream as well.

@@ScaryHairyGary it is! the Cuban wife of my dad showed this to me. So if I get my hands on some mamey here in Germany I always freeze some.

You should definitely try growing the seed! I have a grafted mangaña mamey in SoCal, I’m an hour north of San Diego.
