Maason Smith is a big time talent with outstanding potential but can he stay healthy enough for him to realize it. Maason Smith was a consensus 5-star prospect coming out of high school in Louisiana and decided to take his talents to LSU. In his True Freshman season he appeared in 9 games starting in 4 of them where he had 19 tackles, 5 TFLs , and 4 Sacks. Earning him Freshman All-SEC and Freshman All-American nods. Coming into his True Sophomore he had high expectations however he unfortunately suffered a season ending knee injury in the season opener. Maason Smith has great size for the position standing 6’6 and weighing 310 pounds although him being that size he is a good athlete and he moves well in space especially when getting down the line. However he sometimes can get washed when he gets doubled sometimes getting to high and losing balance. He also lacks a consistent rush plan currently and this upcoming season will be his true second year of College Football. If Maason Smith can stay healthy he can no doubt be a first round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft but his health will be a huge factor for his upcoming season.
