Well, it's a different matter because in the entertainment industry it's a "standard" so people, whether men or women, will look better on camera. It's a pragmatic thing not related to gender. Outside of this context wearing makeup is still not common for men. Where I live practically zero straight men will wear makeup outside of the entertainment industry or specific settings like when your graduation photo is being taken. That's why any man wearing makeup will trigger suspicions that he is gay. Elsewhere, maybe in more liberal countries, maybe more men wear makeup and less people will pay attention.
