ShoeOnHead talked about it in one of her episodes of Hell World, which is where I first heard about them. But that was just in reference to how much of the housing market they own. To learn it goes even deeper and that they are responsible to some degree for the rampant censorship and linguistic gentrification of social media and beyond was pure nightmare fuel

One thing I'd like to get off my chest real quick would be that companies and CEOs that are "progressive" during pride month have no issue turning around and funding politicians that directly oppose LGBT existence so long as it boosts their profits. Its easy to laugh at something like extreme political correctness as being ridiculous because it is, but the underlying reason why performative wokeness exists is that it draws attention away from the actions of corporations who exploit their workers. A good example would be like when Nike partnered with Colin Kaepernick against police brutality, their sales went up because it gave them a lot of free advertising when racist boomers started burning their shoes. But when actual progressives took action against Nike's use of sweatshops through labor law investigations, corporate lawyered up hard because they will do anything possible to protect their profits.

The biggest thing with ESG is a lot of it is how you message your company not actual change. For example companies can lose ESG score by not having slave workers in 3rd world countries but can gain score for saying they will do that.

Pyrocynical brings the comedy, but also a Zoomer perspective towards what's presented (not a bad thing, just a distinct perspective). Colossal Is Crazy brings logic, as well as a more cynical, practical perspective. Dolan Dark brings a duck head, but also some good questions, approaches to opinions from unique angles , and the rare-but-amazing jokes.

This is my first time watching the podcast, 10 minutes in and it's a wild experience being validated on this. We are definitely in an oligarchy within decapitalism, at least in America. They can make profit without needing people to buy their products because they'll just raise all prices on all goods and services (so you have no other choice), but not increase wages, so you're stuck in a difficult financial situation you cannot get out of. Then you have no time, money, or energy to enjoy your life or more importantly, take civil action like participating in a general strike or mutual aid.

Just to be clear, it’s not a left leaning stance. It’s a socially woke, socially progressive, etc. stance. A left leaning stance would be one which doesn’t encourage corporate power, & promotes helping workers, universal healthcare, etc. the reason I’m being specific about this is because the only political group that actually indicates their desire to remove corporate control of society, are people on the left. Not corporate democrats like Hillary or Biden, but people on the actual left. Even if Bernie was too radical that was his goal. I know a lot of conservatives are concerned about it too, but the problem is there are no conservative political figures who ACTUALLY want to get rid of corporate control. Ron DeSantis just does things to pander to his audience meanwhile he increases corporate power and lowers their taxes.

I watched that H3 episode and I found it weird also that he was capitulating to those 3, especially Mike. Even though in the moment it seemed nice and fuzzy I couldn't help but think how Mike is such a scammer and never was cleared of anything. You can say that the other 2 did dodgy things in the past and have already faced consequences but Mike still hasn't been pinned on anything and is still doing it. I think Ethan being a dad now is a factor in him softening up a bit

Hey guys i absolutely love the more like youtube video feel from some of the earlier podcasts. This one feels more like the typical audio podcast format, which i get. But if theres anyways you guys could do the more edited podcasts later, or as well, or like more so in the initial podcast video, i would greatly appreciate it.

24:35 Luckily Hollow Knight isn't like that, Pyro. Getting to 112% in Hollow Knight is a majestic experience all the way through. The worst thing you're going to feel is frustration from how difficult the final few challenges are, that's it. It's 100% worth playing through, easily the most polished and artistically beautiful metroidvania of all time.

I'm the same age as Pyro and also went to school in the UK. I distinctly remember my secondary school also saying this, because I was in an art and design class at the time, and instead of being told to 'brainstorm' our next project proposals we had to 'thought shower' them. My art teacher was exasperated to be fair, and said something like "just make a fkn mind map or some shit, idc." But yeah. She couldn't explain to us why exactly she'd been told to do this, like the logic was convoluted to her too, so she said it was something to do with 'brainstorm' being too aggressive or negative, and 'thought shower' was more approachable?? 🙃

@@RealElongatedMuskrat i'm a few years younger than you and pyro, uk too, and the word "brainstorm" was absolutely fine when i was in school. maybe it's something they rolled back on? i've never heard of it being offensive in my life, i doubt this is an actual thing people are pushing.

Brainstorm has been debated to be offensive since as early as 2000 in the UK. However, it cb be inferred that there isn't any officiall rule or collective agreement across the UK In other words, it really depends on who you're talking to

@@fanrosefabrose9457 that explains why certain schools seem to have taken one stance over the other. Funny enough now that you mention that, I don't think my sisters secondary school ever had this switch, and we were in high school at the same time. So must've been a case by case basis for schools.

In response to something the clow said at the 24 minute mark, "You didnt have to do all the menial little stuff and waste your time", I would say that it speaks about creative integrity. Something I've noticed about Pyro in his most recent stage of longform essays on the main channel is that he seems less about creating a review or thesis about the game he plays, its more of an extremely thorough report on the techniques, themes and content available. Of in analysing art you must be subjective, but pyro seems to have his sights set on being as thorough and objective as possible. Because everyone has different experiences with games if you want to create an accounting of it you have to remove as much subjectivity as possible, and some of that is experiencing literally everything that a subjective view could be based upon. Also why play games if not 2 waste time
