El Hadji Salifou Ouédraogo has nurtured thousands of baobab trees from tiny seeds to expansive forests for the past 47 years. The trees in turn help his family, his village and the Earth.
Filmmaker Michel K Zongo’s uplifting film, The Man Who Plants Baobabs, meets this charismatic old man with a youthful spirit and a lifelong commitment to his trees, which are both a lifeline and a legacy for his community.
Michel K Zongo is a cinematographer and director based in Burkina Faso. He has made three feature-length documentaries that have screened internationally and won several awards. He is also the artistic director of the Koudougou Doc Festival and has been an Academy (‘Oscars’) member since 2020.

It's amazing to watch this video. According to the Hadith of the Rasul PBUH"When human being dies his deeds end except for three things: Ongoing charity[ Like in the case of Alh Salifou.],beneficial knowledge,or a righteous pray for him.And in another, He mentioned" There is none among Muslim who plant a tree or sows a seed, and then bird or person or an animal eat from it , but regarded as a charitable gift from him". May Allah bless Alh Salifou. With lone from Nigeria

Beautiful!!! 🌏🙏🏾💚💙💜💫 There are men who destroy forests, towns and peoples to create their legacy. And then there are men like this who plant one tree and then another and whole ecosystems and continents will sing his name til the ends of time. These are the true legacies we should each strive to leave behind. God Bless!

Baobabs require little water when mature & its seasonal fruits are exported to the US where it is used to make pharmaceutical products & medicines. A much better investment than seasonal crops which many Africans plant for their own survival. Planting trees than can grow for a 1000 years is the way to go

Love and Respect El Hadj Salifou OUEDRAGO . Longue vie à vous !
