From the writer and director of Reality 101 comes The Man Who Sold The World. A noir homage following the case of the most notorious killer...The Langdale Killer. Detective Williams must catch them before it's too late...for him.

Wow! This was mind-blowing; the smooth cinematography (I mean talk about cool!!), effective match cuts, great writing, compelling performances and so much more! This is the best short film I've seen from you guys. People have their favorite feature films of which they will always remember; likewise with myself and your short film. Hats off to all of you who worked on this film!!!

Excellent. Reminds us of the power of classic noir, not just in its endlessly intoxicating aesthetics and atmosphere, but what it has to say about yearning, broken dreams, impossible goals, and our responsibility to identify and strive for that glimmer of goodness amidst all the sad realities and despair.

This is an amazing masterpiece! Being a hobby fiction filmmaker myself, I'm looking for good material like this for inspiration. After I found this title I came across many good looking shortfilms and their stories where nice, good and okay, but this story is surprisingly good! I'm looking forward to more of these sophisticated stories. That being said, I have to admit I'm especially a fan of mystery and psychological stories that gives me the WOW feeling that I have after watching films like Shutter Island and Contratiempo. Keep up the good work!

Black and white is so much more appealing in films. Atleast gives me the sense of the unique, something so separate. A world, ripe for a proper man to harvest his gains and go out with a bang.

It's not often that I like something so much, although I am not sure if I understand it correctly.... So, his wife was not murdered by Langdale killer... He left her behind for this project to find the Langdale killer, because he's an officer... The woman who was asking him to come along with her and the langdale killer who was sitting in front of him, were faces of characters from the movie he was watching on the television while he dozed off to sleep... Am I correct ? Or is it something else ?

It’s about a man who has to leave his family to pursue a new job opportunity. He falls asleep with a noir playing in the television. The people in his life fill his dreams with noir archetype characters. William becomes the detective hellbent on pursuing his work, while neglecting his family. Langdale, the location of his new job is personified as the ‘Langdale killer’ which threatens to destroy his life, Mary who desperately tries to convince William to leave his life behind is revealed to be the person who is supervising his career move in real life. The man who sold the world is a reference to old noir titles, and a David Bowie song. It’s supposed to hint to the audience of the twist revealing this is a contemporary story. William’s decision to prioritise his work over his family makes him the man who sold the world. The song also references David Bowie having a crisis of split identity. This is also reflected in the Russian roulette as William and the Langdale killer face off, two sides of a single persons moral problem.

@@TheThreeLancersWow !!! I thought William is a detective who went to Langdale leaving his family behind and then dreams about all this after dozing off to sleep while watching that movie. (and hence sees the same/similar faces in dream)... This was deep !! I noticed the woman calling him up in his room, mentioned the name of the "suspect" Travis Hardman, but I thought she's his attorney.. Loved it !! Beautifully shot, brilliant plot.. I sent it to some friends... This should have way more views !!
