I’m a retired aerospace engineer and I worked on a couple of these programs and I know exactly how this stuff happens yet every year you hear of more spies stealing critical defense information. Alex I’m glad you’re bringing this in the spotlight because this is a serious problem and I thought sometime in my retirement I would see this change but it looks like it’s never gonna change. For one we need to stop using the Internet to share files between subcontractors and prime contractors. That’s a problem right there and we need to develop aircraft and weapon systems the “skunk works” way -in extreme secrecy, using isolated computer networks and without hiring people from other countries on work visas!! I hope Mr. Shoe bin or whatever’s name is buys a lot of soap on a rope! For his short stay in prison.

People who think that every stealth fighter has to look like the F-22 because "the general design is the optimal solution to the stealth fighter problem" have clearly never done any engineering or design work. There is no such thing as a single solution to a problem. The reason so many new planes look like the F-22 is because it's easier and cheaper to copy and modify a proven design than it is to develop something new from the ground up.

Just one thing to say : the aircraft exterior appearance is just the surface of the iceberg : given pictures, videos, basic specifications, it wouldn't be that hard for chinese engineers to make 3D designs of the aircraft's aerodynamics and asses it's overall performance, the issue is way deeper about the material used' their composition, and much more about the systems of equipment going into the airframe. The Soviets struggled for a while during the beginning of the jet age as they coppied RollsRoyce engines, but didn't know the characteristics of the steel alloys used. Outward apperance can be coppied, for the airframe as for components, the issue is about the functionnality, which can be way harder to reverse-engineer

As a former Intel guy who was reading about stuff China was doing as far back as 2009, this infuriates me. China uses our openness against us. As an American who has lived in Asia for roughly 10 years mostly in Japan and ROK, I want to point out that yes, letting foreign nationals from China work on these techs is a bad thing.. this is simply a battle we cannot win as our round eye black and white American born men and women can be turned as well. I met former ranking officers who with a Chinese lady were living the high life around asia as consultants for the Chinese. I met one from missile tech who was a former colonel and as an American who has seen first hand the rampant corruption in the US let alone simply problems with the misses and the known onboarding capacities of the Chinese, we would be foolish to think that the only leakers are of Chinese descent. Its not always about money, but when these guys turn for the perks of living in Asia with a pack of beautiful women and whatever they want, trying to secure this type of secret info becomes impossible. In an age where government at so many levels can go unprosecuted for vast corruption and abuse of regular Americans, we have many in the US who no one would ever suspect of being a turncoat yet in their hearts have lost the star spangled banner inside themselves. I simply think keeping the cat in the bag is futile and consider how many lifetimes have been wasted in protocols and treasure to advance the military industrial complex and just mere months after these techs come out our opponents have the production lines starting. He decided to use a company that was based out of Singapore to print the blueprints for nato members to be able to repair them, only problem was the Singapore conpany was a CCP front to steal military tech..
