Guys our video got 1 million views! The Kardashev Scale: How Far Can Our Civilization Go?
• The Kardashev Scale: H...

The year 2723. Meeting deck of the interstellar ship Buzz Aldrin.
The navigational officers gather for a "state of navigation" briefing.
A figure of speech is much used in the fleet to avoid admitting that they are meeting to deal with a really serious problem.
There is indeed a lot of tension. And even the unusual presence of a good portion of the scientific staff does not bode well.
The captain enters and imposes silence.

Why the assumption that energy usage is related to progress? Consider the possibility that super-advanced civilizations can do more with less.

You need to find a human analog that will make your statement truth. We almost always use more energy to accomplish our goals.

in order to utilize "less"...a civilization has to grow and growth takes energy.

He's right... I had this thought of determining progress, by the amount of energy a civilization can harness from the same specific amount of material... Like ... We are somewhat capable of harnessing energy from combustion as well atomic reactions... Basically how efficient a civilization is in extracting energies.

@James Palmer2 Who said anything about living in a simulation? Any GM will tell you that was the dog's bollix started by the Mind Flayers when they realized they could never defeat the Drow. They came up with something called "Illsnsine" and pawned it off as the Mind of Minds and so forth. But it was no such thing, despite having tentacles throughout the Multiverse. The mind flayers always love the tentacles...

I really wish everyone would adopt the Sagan scale, it's simple and more useful than the Kardishev scale. 1,000,000 megawatts, 10,000,000 megawatts and so on. Plus it pays homage to the good Dr.
@Zurround

One thing I dislike about the Kardishev scale is its ONLY about how much POWER a civilization can control. I think advancement should be based on the level of EXPLORATION a species had attained. At one point humans could not even easily travel the Earth but now that is pretty much solved. We have sent some people to the moon and maybe Mars in the next 30 years and we have sent some unmanned probes to explore our solar system, one of them even left it. No disrespect meant to Dr. Michio Kaku, I met him once but I don't like his Bull$hit about "controlling" mass amounts of energy because what if a civilization can travel to other star systems but CANNOT control the weather or harness all of the power of a star.

They could be us then - we exist as One and as Many, having evolved beyond evolution, outside of Time and Space, yet present in our human form on this planet or elsewhere. Pure consciousness concentrated into Matter. Who knows how many billions and billions of Big Bangs ago they started their journey, at this stage they would have made sure to be everywhere and nowhere at the same time, they are us and them at the same time

The Q continuum on Star Trek Next Gen is not even a 5 on the Kardishev scale, one estimate I read was 4.5 and each number higher is MEGAEXPONTIALLY more powerful and advanced. These beings would seem like Gods to the Q to the same level that the Q seem like Gods to humans.

How's that? They can create universes to their liking, manipulate time itself and change the laws of physics which would make them type 7. They've literally down everything that can be done, which is infinite. "However, eventually, the Q came to realize that they had experienced, observed, or discussed literally everything imaginable"

@@Josep_Hernandez_Lujan In the mid 1800s some person whose name I forgot became infamous as an IDIOT in history by saying that there is no point to have patent law anymore because everything that can be invented already has ahahaha. And there was a time when scientists thought the Milky Way galaxy was literally the ENTIRE UNIVERSE. They were wrong too. I think the totality of reality goes even beyond the Q ability to comprehend. The Star Trek Next. Gen novel Q squared had something that was so powerful even the Q could not comprehend it.

One thing science fiction just avoid and constantly talk about is only human will go to the planet, but they should address the situation that we can make huge telescope and cameras which will able to take clear picture of galaxies which are millions of light year from us, and only after seeing them we will go there it's little nightmare compare to go by speed of light, as here we just have to use light not make machine

@James Palmer2 I'm under the assumption that if we can achieve 100% of our brain eventually, that we may have no use to create technology to do those things you listed and what could be achieved by superior technology couldn't come to match with what could be achieved by the brain.

@@mechalincoln Your point is counterintuitive. If you think society is bad now, which I agree it is, then at what point then was it good? Because if you point to any time in history, belief in God, gods, or a higher power was more prevalent than it is now. Religion has less followers and less of an impact on society today than ever in history, yet society is bad. Completely contradicting any argument that religion is what is making society bad.

I am not sure if you’re being facetious with this topic? Although, I have listened to enough of your videos to believe that you do have opinions on such things. It is interesting to me that anything we don’t fully understand can be relegated to opinion and everyone’s opinion is always the right one. i do enjoy some of the topics you discuss on your channel but unfortunately, for me, you are too opinionated (in my opinion) to be objective enough to be take seriously on more than a few of your vids. Perhaps this is your purpose to invite conversation. If so, then you got me to bite. Bravo!
