All this time, and I'm still not bored of Creeper World 4. I call this "The Tom Effect"

Now I want to see a co-op mode where one player is the fps and the other builds the buildings

Map is called Autobuild FPS and is made by Auri. Also, I just realized that the name of the map is in the top right... Can't believe I've never noticed...

Imagine if someone was the commander and another was the FPS on the bottom battling against a person playing the creeper. Might be a nice trio game.

I love how small all the towers and cannons are, meaning Tom is a giant or they are just fighting over the size of a football pitch

A bit sad that he didn’t play the FPS map where the AI was automatic instead of using af template. That was really cool.

Imagine a special tower you could put down that pops out a little drone for you to control. Just switch between regular and FPS modes with whatever hotkey

How about a pilotable mech?! That you can enter manually or leave stationary?!

*On Cyclops of the X-Men* - He is _dreadfully boring_ in most of the films, and his power is uninteresting as well. However, that's because most films misunderstand how to demonstrate that the best parts of his leadership & mutant power are directly connected to each other. So unless you get them both right, his character is… so unbelievably uninteresting in exactly the way Tom describes. Cyclops' eye powers _not_ being lasers and rather being concussive force is what's most interesting, because he can bounce his optic blasts off of a large number of objects to hit targets he can't get to directly. Doing that means he has to be able to look somewhere else _AND_ know how much power to use in a blast, by predicting what the end result will be accurately enough to make those decisions, then execute with enough control & precision to ensure that everything should have that it succeeded, _and then_ immediately respond to however they actually turned out once he can safely look at them again. THAT is why he's always been the leader/strategist of the team, because he has to be constantly aware of so many ongoing factors around him in such a short time, while also being mindful of just how dangerous his power is to anything that could draw his attention or distract him whenever it's active. He applies that skill set to being a leader, and has a comic line where he never makes a "Plan B" because using the letter B would imply that there are only a total of 26 other outcomes that he's considered and fully prepared for. It's also what makes the few times he's taken off his visor and just let loose into something directly in front of himself at full strength when he's done letting a situation escalate (like erasing a Sentinel that was on the school's front lawn) show how much he's ALWAYS holding back, instead of just obliterating anyone who opposes him. That completes why the other mutants look to him as the person to be in control of their missions as someone they can all trust to take only whatever degree of force is absolutely required to get a job done as well as possible. It's also why Marvel comics had a really interesting run with his character from Avengers vs. X-Men into the end of Uncanny X-Men in exploring how far they can push him to his limits, and why the whole, "Cyclops was right" narrative is one of the things that storyline did so well with him. The challenge is that without some Sherlock Holmes slow-motion or something, it's a really difficult trait to portray in film with so many other important characters. So, Cyclops fans all get why you think he's boring, and you're not wrong. There's just a lot of excellent stuff you unfortunately don't get from the comics about what makes him and his power cool.

Yay! This is one that I suggested! So happy. I just played FPS Auto Build 3 and it was super good as well!

The talk about fps vs play as creep made me wonder if there was a three-part series on the same map. Get in fps, reclaim the auto-built as the creep, then assault the reinforced creep through classic. It could be a very nice thing to develop I think

This was great! I liked it better than the last fps map, and for whatever reason the camera movement was way less janky. It's great to see iterative evolution of a gamemode!

This is SUCH a cool game mode. I'm VERY jealous of the people with the skills to make the game do stuff like this.

I feel like that RTS exists where you play as either the base commander or a FPS. Either way that would be a great feature for this. I would totally watch you and Ben creepon.

Btw the strat for fps creeper world is to look at your feet and autofire the cannon, then slowly walk to the upgrades... until you get to the energy based upgrades

i've been thinking about an asysmmetrical game where it's not just one team is 4 small guys and the other team is 1 big guy but one team plays an fps and the other person is playing an rts, the idea seems cool to me

It's just a single dev that made creeper world, his name is knucracker on youtube. He's got a bunch of interesting and very long dev diaries while he showcased a new feature that he brought in, during development.

I just played this map a couple days ago, it was very fun!

So kind of out of nowhere. Cyclops doesn’t really shoot laser beams out of his eyes. His eyes are a portal to a different dimension that’s full of energy and the beams come out as a concussive force. So he basically shoots beams of punching out of his face. And his body’s immune to them. Maybe he can put his hand in front of his face and use that concussive force to fly. I mean Cyclops is still kinda bland but punchy vision would be different.

the game you described, was very similar to the old game series Uprising, you got to command a tank, and build bases, and got to take over your main towers and do the shooting yourself haha

There is another FPS map from another author. It has real AI, not pre-ser builings. It's really cool! and it's actually challenging! You have intense level start with posibility of loosing. and AI is actually doing good job. And it can even take over creeper after you helped it to hold off initial wave.

This one made me think about the game Natural Selection a lot.

Hey Tom, just a suggestion if your willing to taking one. But if your looking to try another game very similar to Creeper world 4, check out an old game called "Perimeter" made by K D Labs way back in 2004 (before creeper world even existed) it has world terraforming, adaptive combat (land, air, subterranean) plenty of variety of defensive structures, building tech levels, resource/land occupation management, a fairly interesting campaign, multiplayer, single player vs AI, a few factions with there own unique abilities...

''it would be cool on any map to come in and be aaaaa'' someone....make Tom discover a little overlooked gem that despite not having been able to play it for years...i still hold very dear memories of.. Urban assault ^^ ...ever played a rts and thoguht ''if i just could take control of a tank ,plane , tower , copter , drone at will and play it fps style for x reason'' ;) also recomended to try and dust of one of those old joooooysticks ^^ for a nice feeling of controls when ''assuming direct control!''....back in the day ,that kind of merge of fps and rts was what i mostly thought multiplayer would encourage...but then big corps and stuff came and wanted to turn everything into wow or csgo :/

The player vs player would be weird as the defender would lose his erns so he would take them out.

Tom needs to play Particle Fleet Emergence. I think he would lile it.

I assume you're aware of the easter egg in CW3, where it lets you play it in a twin-stick shooter type fashion. About as close to an fps as you can get in a 2d game

When I played this I just went for upgrades and made a path through the creep

basically tom is asking for a multiplayer RTS, maybe they'll call it "CreepWars"

Cyclop's death at the hands of Thanos in the original Infinity Gauntlet comic series is particularly brutal. Thanos puts a invisible box around his head so head can't speak, shoot or breathe. Captain America beats on it with his shield for a few panels then he's just lying down silent and motionless in the background as the story moves on without him.

I respect Cyclops as a character. When he's written well, he earns every bit of his reputation as the leader of the X-Men. It's just that writers prefer to write for Wolverine at his expense.
