@@theunsophisticatedsailor7782 Yeah. Sailing really peaks my interest but it looks like you need to be a jack of all trades to keep a boat up. I almost stopped the video when I saw the internal mess you were dealing with but then I saw the 360 improvement. My hat is off to you. Keep the videos coming.

Where are you located?

I hate to say it but, Larry has a valid point. A good contract (in writing) should identify the marina's responsibilities. Why was the boat taken out of the water? Where you aware it was going to be taken out? Did you have any prior notice? "a window of time". If I knew my boat was going to be taken out of the water, I would have been calling frequently to verify the date/time/specifics. Sounds like both the marina & you could have done better. (communication)

Yes but treating your boat with such disdain isn't in the contract either.

I didn't get to explain the whole story. It was the end of season. They "scheduled" it for October 15th. I called constantly every weekend and they kept pushing it off until December 15th. I live an hour away so I couldn't just keep driving there every weekend which I did until the middle of November. I was reassured that they would cover the mast hole and close the door. I was in the middle of planning a wedding so after November I was not going to be able to drive down there to inspect other peoples work, which now I have learned to. It was my fault to assume the marina would take care of customers, as well as I do.

I could've done a claim and had the insurance fight with them, but somehow I feel like I would end up paying for it anyways.

@@theunsophisticatedsailor7782 if you take a bunch if regular table salt, and add just enough water to make a paste you can allot the paste to the wall after you sand it real good, llow it to sut overnight. it'll bleach the wood so you can apply the stain before applying varnish or eurathane. You'll get a more even color.

I laughed when I saw the taping job. The office is always empty when I get there on the weekend and I don't have time to go during the week. When I call they always say that someone is going to call me back but they never do.

I don't want to do that just because I love the location and people make mistakes all the time. I am just using this as another learning experience and hopefully from my mistakes others will learn. I kind of took it personally but after talking to other sailors at that marina, they said they have had experiences similar situations. One sailor said they almost sank his boat. They had left a through hull open when they were trying to repair his boat and he had over a foot of water in his before they even noticed.

Buy ever clear from a liquor store. It's 95 percent alcohol. I use it for hand sanitizer and I have used it to remove glue.

I tried that. It's actually hard to find help up here. Either people are too busy to take on new clients or have retired from working on sailboats. Power boats at least mechanical help is abundant here but not so much for sailboats. i had one guy that was helping me but he ended up hurting his back and I never heard from him again.
