I actually think they balanced bowser very well. He's genuinely pretty scary at parts. Even when he's being comedic and silly he's still attempting to murder a bunch of people by dropping them in a pool of lava

I don't share your opinion on Bowser, I liked seeing both sides of him in this movie, and I found him pretty frightening in the way he casually wants to sacrifice his prisonners and in his rage at the end of the movie

My biggest problem is how they handled Luigi. I mean it's called the Super Mario Bros. Movie and the way they wrote Luigi(which was out of the plot) just seemed more like the Super Mario Movie. Anyway, this video had me laughing twice and reviews that can do that get "bonus" points. So great job.

There was so many things wrong with the writing of this movie . Peach being a perfect marie Sue who is the only one who can fight in the Mushroom kingdom (making you wonder how the Toads were doing before her and how their kingdom was still standing) always has the upper hand , is never vulnerable , can 1v1 bowser , hold on against his army all by herself for a very long time ; Mario who could get instant mastery over most power ups (cat suit , Tanuki suit) , but struggled with slightly higher jumps in the platforming Parcours of Peach , DESPITE being perfectly able to do it in Brooklyn (and being quite acrobatic) ; Peach backstory which was mentioned once and ONLY once and had not influence on the story in any way (it leads nowhere); Characters only having 30 seconds of characterization in the entire movie and surface level interaction (& Dynamic ); DK complaining about his dad thinking he's a joke , despite the movie telling the opposite with Cranky giving defeate of his son as the price to get HIS ARMY ; DK complaining about being more than a guy who smashes things coming out of nowhere (he never showed any distain of smashing things and we never saw him doing anything except smashing things ) , leading nowhere , having no pay off and not being brought up again ; Luigi being able to do platforming at the end of the movie despite being really bad at it at the beginning of the movie and was never introduced to the concept of power up (he was in a cage for the 90% of the movie) ; Bowser and Mario having no interaction until the end of the movie ; Things just happening without being related to each other (a flood happend in Brooklyn , mario & Luigi tried to fix it and failed , they found the passage to another world , we don't know what happened, it apparently got resolved off screen , it's like if it never occurred ) Obvious plot contradiction , such as the Penguins having the power star at the beginning of the movie , but not using it against Bowser , and we are never given the reason to why ; Bowser bothering everyone with the Power star when he had a literal tactical nuke at his disposal ; The power star serving no purpose until the end of the movie ; Mario & Luigi's family not questioning why there was a giant explosion , a giant castle Crashlanded in the middle of Brooklyn , Giant talking turtles and Gorilla and only cheering them "go defeat the big bad guys!" ; Instead of letting the nuke destroy the EMPTY and EVACUATED mushroom Kingdom , Mario decided to deviated it from ots initial trajectory , leading it not to the middle of sky , not to a body of water , but to its only way home , the nuke then didn't destroy the Pipe but got SWALLOWED by it (but Mario had no way to know this would happen) , got transported to the world between the world and decided to conveniently explode there instead of coming out of the outher side of the pipe in Brooklyn (because it can clearly choose when to do it otherwise it would have done it earlier when it was a fiew meters above the mushroom kingdom's castle or when it was a fiew meters away from mario) ; Mario being motivated to defeat Bowser at the end of the movie , not because his family is in danger , not because the guys he considers as friends are in danger , not because the city is in danger , but because of a freaking commercial at the pizza ria and because "hey , I'm a hero , I gotta do heroic things". This movie shows how little the audience will care about the quality of a movie as long as you throw in references of an IP they like and it shows how low the bar can be set for a video game adaptation.

It was a 🔥 movie I think you was expect something to your liking and it backfired the only thing I obviously didn’t like was how they did my boy Luigi but overall it had a awesome storyline and lots of Easter eggs also my final opinion is I’m a 90s guy so automatically I felt like a kid who was losing his mind every 2 seconds and couldn’t stop talking 🤣🤣😏 can’t blame me for something I love so dear and near to my heart

Honestly it was a movie that should have been made for 80/90s kids back in the early 2000s. This movie was made for a different crowd in a different era. To me the movie was great for what it was and i would watch it agian and im waiting for the sequels.

Outside of Bowser’s character, it was a good movie. In fact, it’s one of the highest grossing films in 2023 so far.

This movie did not disappoint! (Chris Pratt was Okay but not a good idea when rewatching this film) But Jack Black’s performance as Bowser mostly did not Disappoint at all and OMG He was amazing!!!!!!

the only bad thing about this movie is they gave Mario so many opportunities to use the fire flower and instead gave it to two characters we have never seen use it before.

There hardly was any interaction between Luigi and Peach, or proper meeting. Then suddenly he lives in her kingdom with Mario. There were many other pacing issues. Everything else was fine though, the music and visuals being where most of the effort was put in.

I thought that bowser was amazing, I like the comedy he gave, and I liked the characters. I like how peach isn’t a damsel in distress and Mario would have to save her, cause that would be too basic in my in my opinion. I think that you don’t need a thought process to do something, well, you don’t need to bring it up that is. The writing was pretty funny, in my opinion. Sure, it isn’t perfect. But hey, does it really need to be?

Loved this film! From Start to finish I was rolling with laughter Jack Black killed it as Bowser, Chris Pratt was fine as Mario everyone needs to get out their own head cannon and enjoy things for what they are instead of what they expect. People's own expectations are why they were disappointed. The film did what it set out to do and that's entertain, Peach was fantastic and really made me want to learn more about her backstory. Being raised by the toads and her original home world being mysterious really makes me wonder what else is out there.

I think this is a movie that would've benefitted from being like 20 minutes longer to give the characters time to breathe and have their moment- namely, Peach and DK. I really liked DK in this movie and his relationship with his father felt completely told, but DK's decision to work with Mario felt EXTREMELY quick. DK goes from antagonizing Mario in a hopeless situation to "alright, let's do this!" in the blink of an eye and it just felt so flat to me? It left me confused. I feel like their scene could've used more time and they definitely could've bonded over their shared struggles with their fathers. Idk why Illumination didn't let that happen when the groundwork was set up so perfectly Similarly, the scene with Mario and Peach in the fire flower field could've used more time! I think the scene ends with Mario saying something about how maybe Peach was from Brooklyn too, and she responds "there's a thousand galaxies out there" or something that felt equally like a disjointed response to me. It felt like the line was originally longer but the directors cuz it down to that one sentence. Then Mario smiles like he understands, they look up at the stars, and the scene ends. What?? Give her an emotional reaction to this revelation or something! Has she ever thought about what her life was like with other humans? Or that maybe she was abandoned by her birth parents? Let her stew on it! Let her wonder about it! They really dropped the ball with Peach imo. There was so much potential with Peach coming into contact with another human being for the first time in her life and they didn't do much with it :/
