The Hip Hook, also known as The Mark, is a tool that was developed to relieve tension in your psoas and iliacus, two muscles that are rarely treated and very difficult to treat on your own. The Hip Hook is awesome at relieving this tension that could be causing issues with your back, knees, pelvis, or toes. It was crazy to me how much tension I had in my iliacus that I didn't even know. When I first used it the sensation was intense but it was such a relieving feeling! This device was re-branded as The Mark in February 2024 by Aletha.

The hip hook completely resolved my knee pain. I had pain under my right kneecap for over a year. I visited a PT and a separate specialist and neither helped. After tons of foam rolling and stretching exercises I was about to give up until I found her tool and decided I’d give it a try. My kneecap pain is completely gone after about 2 weeks of use. The $200 is entirely worth having my life back and being able to use it whenever I want!

Personally I’ve found the hip hook to work for me. I have a spasm/pain in hip and I get instant relief. I’ve only been using it for 2- 3 weeks. It definitely takes some getting use to because it’s not comfortable at all and causes pain at first plus soreness for a couple days after. But stick with and keep working at it. It gets easier and less uncomfortable the more you use it. I find it brings almost immediate relief and I’m hoping with consistent use over a longer period I’ll see lasting results 👍

Love the video, but I wanted to correct one piece of information. The iliacus does NOT go from the spine to the front of the hip. The Psoas goes from the spine to the hip, where it joins the iliacus which lays on the inside part of the hip known as the ilium. When the psoas and iliacus come together in the hip they become known as iliopsoas and attach on the front, outside part of the hip.

I have chronic pain with left sided radiculopathy so my tolerance is pretty high but this thing is just something else. I have extreme shooting pain in front of hips, and around to back of hip every time I stand from a sitting position, but goes away as soon as I start walking. Do you think this is from those exact muscles being tight?

My question is that when you are releasing your psoas you normally bend the knees in supine to relax the rectus ab and psoas. When you are on your belly and your legs are stretched down (possibly pointed toes) you are stretching your psoas to the max (for general public) How ever do you get to the illiacus in that position with all those stretched stuff covering it? This is an honest, curious question. Thank you!

I do running and I almost didn’t finish my last race cause of hip pain. Took couple months off and slowly brought it back and it’s good now but in offseason training. Went to the gym and did two abductor movements. One where you squeeze these pads in towards each other bringing knees together and that was good. Then I did the opposite way where your push them away towards your butt, when I did that I had the instant pain in the side of my hip with little to no weight. This hip hook goes into the front of your hip, I have pain on the other side of the hip?
@BestMassageTech

Yes it goes into the front of your hip but the muscle attaches toward the back of your pelvis so your pain could very well stem from the iliacus.

Don't know if you're going to see this, but your comment about martial arts prompted me to write this. I think I do have an illio-psoas problem but my pain spot is different. From a standing position, lift one knee to 90° perpendicular to the floor, my pain spot is right at the fulcrum of my thigh & my body. In other words, it is closer to my groin than to my upper hip bone. I don't know if I'm explaining correctly. I got this pain from repeated leg lifts & kicking. Is that the illio-psoas muscle & can this thing help me?

@BestMassageTech
@BestMassageTech 2 жыл бұрын
I'm not a medical professional so please don't take anything I say as medical advice, but I believe your chiro is likely referring to your SI joint, which is the point where your spine and pelvis meet - you likely feel pain when you sit up from a chair if you have issues with this. Your iliacus stabilizes this joint and could very well be at the root of your issues. The Hip Hook has a 60-day guarantee so I see no harm whatsoever in seeing if this resolves some of your issues and saves you from future trips to the chiropractor!

The iliacus does NOT attach to the spine! It connects the ilium to the femur. And you are definitely not targeting your iliacus when you are working superiorly to the ASIS up near the lower ribs. This is all so wrong.
@kroojinder
@kroojinder Жыл бұрын
Finally someone that calls it - I bought this device and it does absolutely NOTHING for your psoas. Yes, you can hit the iliacus, but guess what? You can do that just as well with your own hand, and the same goes for the psoas itself, though I found a PSO-Rite decent if you want to use body weight. Another issue I take with this device is that they never tell your how to distinguish between the inguinal ligament and the surrounding muscle groups, so there's a good chance folks are just jamming this device right into connective tissue, or even worse, the femoral vein & artery.

@@sandrabrown9127 I have one. If you are consistent in your approach it helps to relieve lumbar pain from sitting too much, tight hip flexor/quad complex, etc. The key is everyday use, to see true effects. Does it replace an aggressive hip flexor stretch with glute drive? No. I say aggressive as in back leg foot propped up on couch, chair, bar in a rack, etc., down leg rest right above knee on ground, good upright posture from there, and glute drive of down leg. If you can do all of that for 30-60 sec with glute drive you are good to go. All of that is tough for most people, so this modality can offer some benefit. You also have to enjoy pain to an extent. If you are not a fan of trigger point work then this is not for you.
