I am a multi generational southerner and your food review had me dying. 🤣 Based on what yall said, the Mason Jar seems like a restaurant that is best suited for people who are unfamiliar with true southern cuisine, haven't tried it before or scared to try. It's like an entry level course, Southern Cuisine 101. People like us be going to them PhD level places where you open crab legs with your teeth! 💪🏾🤣💜

Nashville Hot Chicken is always served on top of bread, usually its plain white bread that soak up the grease and flavors, the chicken usually has pickles on top, you eat it all together and its a hit!!!

Hubby and I had brunch and dinner. We enjoyed brunch a lot better. For dinner I got the shrimp and grits, hubby the catfish we enjoyed both. I stayed away from the greens and mac n cheese because I knew I'd be disappointed, very particular about those. Dessert I got the fried Oreos and hubby a banana pudding dessert. I really like the fried Oreos and the sauce was good. I would return for brunch, probably not dinner

I'm a whole southern girl at heart with strong southern roots, first off I'm enjoying the song George Strait in the background All my exes live in Texas! LOL Mason jars and moonshine are my upbringing! Fried green tamatas--yum! Johnnycakes and pulled pork--you speaking my language! You had me at crawfish and gumbo! They didn't rinse that rice before they cooked it! Fail! That roux looks good though. That mac & cheese--HELL NO they wrong for that! Nashville hot chicken don't even look like that I can see that's wrong, them some light skin sweet potatoes...aye sweet home Alabama! I love me some bourbon! (ok so yes i'm commenting as the video plays) I could have told you not to eat those sweet potatoes Rich. Ok i'm a Carolina girl and I love a dry rub--vinegary rib, yes Jasmine they don't have that smoke pink--NOPE! They are better than that fake chicken LMAO. Mmmph i'm surprised you scored that high. I would try it just to try it but thanks because I know what to SKIP! Pretend Southern food, not REAL Southern food but it's mass marketed to people who don't know what to expect. I appreciate your honest comments. I agree with your review just by looking at the food. It looks cracker barrelish. That mac and cheese was not giving any kind of goodness and we all know they not barbequing on no cruise ship. I don't think I would like the artificial smoke flavor either. I do want that PB&J Old Fashioned though, maybe I can just go to the bar and order ala carte cause I want those beignets. That bread pudding is giving dry cinnamon roll vibes. That's not southern bread pudding. It's not moist and it is supposed to have a bourbon caramel or whiskey sauce on it.

Wanted to try the southern belle. But what you ordered the Mississippi moonlight sounds good. How about both. Looks like they give a lot of butter. Oh. Cajun and honey butter. The jalapeño cornbread is bussin. Good to know. Your drink looks amazing. Oh no. A disappointment? Sometimes those juice tasting drinks creep up on you. Never had pimento cheese. Never had fried green tomatoes. Bacon jam and remoulade sauce. Beignet with crab in it with a creamy lump crab dip. My mouth is watering 😋. Deviled egg with crispy capers and fried chicken skin? Ok. Different. The blueberry johnnycake looks unusual. No to the pulled pork. Jazzy. Your expressions are hilarious while analyzing that Johnny cake. Oh no. Overcooked rice in your gumbo and a little salty. Agreed Rich. How gonna run out of collard greens. Open face on the 1/2 bun with bone in chicken? 😳 Wow. Rich’s meal is meh. No sauce? They do look tender they way they pull off the bone. Oh. I don’t even see the sauce but glad it’s good.

I am just now see this a year later and smiling and laughing at your Mason Jar review. I book this for lunch when I get on the Wonder of the Seas in August. Now, I love Cracker Barrel especially their fried chicken and their turnip greens. However, I would be truly disappointed too with no collard greens. The Mason Jar is not a mom and pop restaurant! Okurrr

When we were on Oasis back in October, they were premiering Portside BBQ and it was definitely hitting. I saw another vlog/live where y’all did a preview of Mason jar and I was disappointed for y’all.

I was thinking the entire time... This seems like an overpriced Cracker Barrel. But the French Quarter/cajun choices threw me a bit. I think I personally would go that route if I ever get the chance to eat there. I enjoy beignets and the gumbo definitely had my attention. But I also don't like sticky rice. Great vlog once again, can't wait to see what's next!

As a Nashvillian I always laugh when I hear Nashville hot chicken. If you want hot chicken Prince's Chicken was the orginators and was a neighborhood staple. If you come to Nashville go to Prince's.

Mason Jar seems like a drinks and appetizers place. Like I can go sit at the bar get me an app and a drink, and have a good time

Ok…. Would have had the fried green tomato 🍅 with the KY bourbon and been straight. But I’m from KY and I believe good bourbon goes well with anything. 👍
