I was so upset that health issues kept me from going to Equine Affaire this year. I kept looking at the schedule and trying to pick out which ones I had to narrow them down to. I always get a new a new EA T-shirt. The last year I went, I ordered a new farm sign for the end of my driveway. I also bought a painting of a beautiful Paint horse. I wanted the artist to paint Arrow, my own stunning Paint. It was very expensive to have it done, so I was saving to have it done this year. I love the shopping and have gotten great prices on everything from boots to blankets. I actually bought a couple of horse shoe gifts from the same stall you featured. The breed barn is one of my favorite places. I fell in love with a gorgeous Gypsy Vanner. My friend was ready to move on, but I was enthralled. Finally, the owner saw my infatuation and whispered in my ear that he would sell her to me if I was interested. Dennis Thompson had a an ad that he allowed a company to feature some of his horses. I don’t remember what the ad was for, but I thought the horses were the most stunning I’d ever seen. I saw a photo credit and tracked him down. Most people hadn’t heard of the breed yet. I spoke to him at his farm in Florida. He told me the story about him and his late wife, seeing some in a small field. They stopped and brought the first into the US to breed. I told him about my first pony who would be mistaken for a Gypsy Vanner today. Rebel was a bay tobiano pinto with the big fluffy feathers of the breed. I sent Dennis a picture and he had a good laugh. He invited me to visit the farm if I was ever in Florida. He told me he’d let me ride his his (late) stallion, Gypsy King. His horses started at $20,000 and went much higher. The owner at EA told me to make him an offer. I knew anything I could possibly say, would be an insult. If I put every penny I had, maybe I could scramble together $1,500 to $2,000 TOPS! I was so embarrassed that I ran after my friend with a beet red face! I would actually consider adopting a large pony to keep my horse company. I recently lost his BFF who belonged one of my horse friends. I’d get a donkey, but they can get very noisy. I had have a nasty neighbor who took me to court over my roosters. The judge was also a farmer. After the third time, he made her pay my court fees and never show her face in court again. 😂 Anyway, watching you walk around gave me such a boost. I was so upset that this was the third year I’ve missed…no, the 4th year. I had a shoulder surgery in 2020. I missed 2021 after surviving a serious case of Covid. That gave my immune system a serious hit. I have an autoimmune disease that attacks my spine. Last November I had a huge 10 hour surgery. I’m still not in remission so the next level above the 3 vertebrae done last year has to be done. I’m waiting to get on the schedule, but I can’t handle a long trip now. I’m hoping NEXT year is the year! Thanks so much for sharing. You made my day!! 😊❤

Fun! So many beautiful horses and fascinating things in one place. That black weanling mule was cool and so confident for a baby, even taking the lead and showing he's got plenty of go. What a great experience for any youngster - exposed to everything you can imagine - strangers working gates, crowd noise, all of it.

This was so cool! It's kind of like the Rocky Mountain Horse Expo, but way bigger. My barn has a stand at the RMHE every year and though i've volunteered i've never actually gone - i think i will next year! Can't wait for more video on it!

Oh bummer! Yea it’s a really well-done event! It’s been years since I was last here, but there are quite die-hards who go every year, often traveling some pretty far distances!
