I was self taught painter and did a lot of the things you do. Eventually went to some classes on paints and such and learned from others in the trade. I think you are a true painter/body man. People use to tell me I was doing something the wrong way or not yawing the correct stuff. But at the end of the day I was the one with all the trophy’s for best in paint. And still to this day some of my paint jobs still look great and are 10 plus years old keep doing what you are doing I enjoy watching your clips.

Watching your videos make some wish I’d been a body man instead of a carpenter. I e spent 25 years building custom homes and worked all over NC countryside. I guess I’m a master carpenter and it sure is nice watching you Billy, The Master body man! I hope your eyes will get healthy so you can continue to share your knowledge with all of us!! A great carpenter I am but some would say I’m not the best teacher but as long as I can teach my 4 kids how to fix a few things and not rely on someone else, I guess that’s a win! May god bless you billy for being so selfless in a time that your health is fading you’re still shining light on a firing art form cus today’s generation doesn’t want to get dirty like we do! He had built this over the top wood splitter back in the 80s with a humongous splitter, ALL hydro assist and was like 4-5 times what ALL the overpriced ones you will find in today's world. I REALLY disapproved of where it finally went, ( NEXT to given away 😬) to one of my "uncles😒" on mom's side. I'd preferred to have possibly sold it to another legit "woodman". I worked in a body shop for over 10 years 20 years ago ...and I was taught body work or filler to 80 grit ...2k urathaine primer block with 180 ....primed again with 2k block with 320 ....then we used a tinted epoxy sealer depending on base color ....2 to 3 coats dupont base ....3 coats of dupnobt clear ....nib , razor blade etc.. da with soft pad (we called it the jitterbug) 1000 grit water sand 1500 2000 2500 buff with 3m buffing compound white egg shell disc ...black egg shell 3m polish , 3m hand glaze ...then wash wax detail .....now granted sometimes after 3 coats clear I would let one set overnight ...wet sand with 600 and put 3 more coats clear before sanding and buffing ....especially on my own stuff or anything you wanted come out super slick ....and sometimes we did use ppg instead of dupont...but process was the same .

So I should probably be checking out more of your videos to learn this, but from what I’m hearing it sounds like you prefer etching primer on bare metal vs epoxy? God this gave me flashbacks to sanding the hood of my car a few weeks back lol discovered over 50% of my hood was covered in bondo for absolutely no reason at all the only spot that actually needed the bondo was the corner of the hood where the vehicle was in a slight accident before I bought it and they just repaired the dent with bondo instead of fixing it properly. About 3 inches of that corner was nearly solid rust, had to get a whole new one from a junkyard after thoroughly inspecting it 🙃

I enjoy your videos. However, I sort of feel sorry for your lungs. A sweaty durag is not a very good air filter.

I wouldn't ....Lol. (feel sorry for his lungs) The garage door IS OPEN...IF he's halfazz smart? He WILL have a fan (obviously NOT shown in video) BLOWING the little mi-nute dust OUT and AWAY from his face.... WHY do soooo MANY people make "NEEDA respirator" comments on THESE kinda situations?....He AINT sanding ANY actual fiberglass, body filler, 2 part Primer or Sealer OR PAINTING ANYTHING ....It and OR he, REALLY WILL, BE okay .....

Epoxy primer dont stick to bare metal? Thats literally what epoxy primer was designed to do. Its good your using epoxy "sealer" over the etching primer. Epoxy is far and above a better choice for protecting metal from moisture.
