Let us remember that Sophia kenin won Australian Open and was absolutely the favorite in this game.Iga Swiatek did have some wins and she was also a junior Wimbledon champion but at WTA she was still really unknown.And here ,for the first time in her life,she not only won six matches on the way to the final but also showed she is cool and tennis smart..Only 3 years later she has won already 4 grand slam tournaments but also won all together 16 tournaments,among them Italian Open,German Open,Indian Wells in California, Miami Open in Florida,Dubai Open, and almost $20 million American dollars.

Kenin wasn´t the favorite at all, actually. She was regarded the same as many people regard her today, a lucky one-time slam winner (I don´t agree). Swiatek on the other hand had made waves throughout the fortnight, and was the heavy title favorite.

Then in 2020 at Roland Garros the star showed first shining. Now ,in November 2023 Iga Swiatek won her first WTA tournament and regained number 1 position in the world of women's tennis . She won all sets and lost only 20 games in whole tournament which never happened before. She is amazing. She is a queen.

Since teaming up with new coach Wiktorowski not a single drop shot. I miss them too but hitting hard from the back of the court has brought her a lot of success. Why change a winning formula?

@@andybacon6748 Actually she tried some drop shots in one tournament in 2023 but it wasnt good and she stopped again.

@@andybacon6748 Dropshots aren't winning formula. They are handy, but not obligatory. I can see two big cons of dropshots: - good dropshot is a technically very demanding - it needs to be played in right place and right time, because, if not, opponent will get it and point is easily lost, - dropshots mode may trigger subconsciously in crucial, tight moments - when player is tired, playing dropshot is easy recipe for catastrophe; see: slam finals of Ons Jabeur and Karolina Muchova. It's much better for Iga to play more volleys and slice shots, than dropshots.

You never know with these young surprise Slam winners if it was one time thing or if they will do it again. I became convinced that Iga was the real deal when she double bageled Pliskova in the Rome final the year after.

This entire big win would have meant very little in tennis world without those 3 grand slams titles which followed last 2,5 years and multiple WTA titles. It was a pandemic year with RG in October, a lot of people considered Iga as one time wonder additionally in unusual conditions. Fortunately she prooved she belongs to top players and now this title tastes nice, fresh and sweet.

Considered her a one time wonder? Are you kidding me. I guess if only polish people hyped her up I’d understand. But it wasn’t it was a lot of people predicting her future. 2 doubles slam junior finals, won Wimbledon junior, won a youth Olympics gold in doubles. She was a top 5 junior. There was no doubts if she would make it but when.

Świątek is one of the signs of changing Polish sport. As a Pole I must say we start to see growing groups of people who can afford sending their children and train sport that were too expensive so far to be trained. She is one of these chidren.

Can‘t say I‘ve ever seen a better level of tennis on clay than by Swiatek in this tournament, not even in the other two that she won a few years later… she was completely in the zone and literally unplayable.

It may seem this way, because she and her game style were relatively unknown. She looked better compared to her opponents because of this element of surprise. She improved her game since then, but so did other players. That's why other GS titles were more hardly earned, but more significant imo.

@@michawodarkiewicz371a qualifier who swept the Open without dropping a set isn't a flop. She truly earned it but then got caught up with sponsorship and media frenzy. Then the injuries and personnel changes. It's like winning the lottery, it's not always pinky rosy easy street. I see her coming back when things are on the right tracks....

@@marekwojtowicz3005I don’t believe in that, she is not enough humble to train and develop than Iga. She misses also that general athleticism which makes Iga a great material for coaching. She has that winning edge attitude, a killer instinct. Off the court, most funny and lovable but on the court she hates to loose and she has become a mental monster with new skill sets, especially after this year USO.

Before match against Simona, Iga was 30/1 in bookies to win RG after this match was 1/2. Price at finał was the same

If this one win for Poland made history so to speak, we should not forget that the same win two years earlier by Jelena Ostapenko did the same for Latvia. And, still, Iga has gone further, no question. I am a fan of both.

She wasn't the first Pole to win a Grand Slam. Caroline Wozniacki and Angelique Kerber - both Polish - did that before. Iga was the first Pole representing Poland.

@@fox570808 No nie bardzo. Kerber i Woźniacka urodziły się w Niemczech/Danii, tam się wychowały, tam się uczyły i chłonęły tamtejszą kulturę i zwyczaje. To zasadnicza różnica. Martina jest Czeszką, którą komunistyczny reżym potraktował jak potraktował.

Some people were saying she won it mainly because Kenin was injured in the second set. Utter rubbish in my view. Kenin was still running and hitting well enough, it's just Swiatek was unstoppable in this tournament. If you want to see injured and struggling, look at Haddad-Maia during Wimbledon today against Rybakina, Lehecka against Medvedev also today, or Murray against Querrey at Wimbledon 2017. They were all totally wrecked or in BHM case couldn't even continue. Kenin was fine to play.

في الملاعب الترابيه تحتاج الى تحرك الخطى بشكل مستمر الى الاعلاء حتى تعطي وضعيه صحيحه اثناء حركه الانطلاق وتكون خفيفه علا الارظ ولاتتعثر في التاخر اثناء ملاحقه الكرات في كافه ارجاء الملعب لان القدم كلما اتت في ارظ صلبه كانت حركه الاندفاع للانطلاق اسرع وكلما اتت في التراب تكون حركه الانطلاق للاندفاع اقل وبذالك يستطيع الاعب ملاحقه كل الكرات بشكل مناسب وغير متاخر في ارظيه الملعب الترابيه
