He completely flew over the importance of azurite as a painting pigment. It was the most used blue pigment during the middle ages (a thousand years! but then again he did call that period 'the dark ages', so...), and was -and still is- used in Japan and China as the main blue pigment at least from the 10th century.

What about Maya Blue! Anthropologists have discovered how the ancient Maya produced an unusual, widely studied blue pigment that was used in offerings, pottery, murals and other contexts across Mesoamerica from A.D. 300 to 1500

Woad is a source of tincture, or dye, not a pigment.

Indeed, "ultramarine" is a shade of "blue", because traders who needed it had to go all the way "across the sea" to Afghanistan to acquire it.
