For many, a 1932 Ford roadster is the quintessential hot rod. Take a look back at the original-the trendsetting car that became the benchmark of style for so many hot rods that came after it and remained an icon even as hot rod tastes changed throughout the decades.

I'm glad to see the car was restored to it's original hot rod configuration. to me the classic 32 highboy said it all about hot rodding . taking a car and making it faster, look better and also be safer. All of the older Fords like the 32 had mechanical brakes that were marginal at best so when they were first modified most people put "juice brakes" on so they would be able to stop. i had one of those Monogram Big Deuce kits from the early sixties that I got from an older brother that never finished it.

When the LA Roadsters were at the Great Western Exposition Center, Scritch let me drive his '32 Phaeton around the block. That started me on my own Tub, which I still have today. He was a great guy. I do agree that the wonderful restoration should have been attributed by name.

My grandpa, n 2 brother in law's, bought a 32 Ford used .(trundle) They took off fenders, put a big low geared trans off a truck, put Air plane tires on it, and would use during deer season to get back into the high Sierra's. I have old 16mm movie camera home movies of this car in action in the late 30s

Many of these guys were WWII GIs having a good time after going through Hell. None of them built show cars, except those guys that had connections to Hollywood and big money. I don't know about that guy talking about the late 30s because there just weren't that many 32s in junkyards. That all changed after the war, with flathead V8 add-ons... It's very odd seeing a millionaire driving a "100 point" show "hot rod", but it's nice to see it driven.

seeing all these magnificent machines brought tear to my eyes; would love a 32 roadster with a flathead and even a t bucket. will never have the chance in my lifetime as they are too out of reach financially for me.

We used to laugh at the "Bathtubs" back in the day but at 0.32, an ACTUAL Nash bathtub (pre-1950) should be patched-in; the one shown looks like a 1953 Nash Statesman. Nashes were much better looking in the '50s.... Isky is such a nice guy and always happy to give advice. Years ago I detected a cam-walk problem with a new roller set-up I was installing into a SBC 327 for my Deuce roadster. Took it direct to Ed and he spec'd it out, found problems and after dressing down the "boys" , made it right. His desk was just like this video and at the time he had some Ardun OHV conversion parts he was working with.

what a shame -- that now all these older cars are "collectors items" being sold for tens of thousands -- so how is a kid going to learn ? I bought quite a few British sports cars -- series 1 Jaguar E - type coupe is good for building as its strong to start with and is the world's first full-scale wind tunnel designed car. A little work and you're over the 200 mph mark.

If you really want a Hotrod but can’t find one, I’d check out Brookville Roadster! They use the old machine that they used in the 30s to make the 32s and Model A’s! It’s super sick!

Beautifully filmed very well done video. But how dare you not mention the restoration by Pete Chapouris and So.Cal. Speed Shop over some petty money issue "TYPICAL". You can't blame it on the editor, That car did not restore itself. Shame on you. Your jealous of Pete. His body is not even cold yet. Your a very petty man learn to let it go and forgive Pete Chapouirs the man that restored THE BOB MCGEE CAR. As it was explained to me by a friend of ours that just passed away "YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO BE THE MAYOR OF TOON TOWN". Don't you !!

When they restored it did they put a flathead V8 back in the car?
@SGTJDerek
@SGTJDerek 3 жыл бұрын
Yes. They went through a very painstaking restoration to take it back to the way Bob built it. I forget which magazine covered it, one of Peterson's titles, but they tracked down as many Original parts as they could. All this was before the Internet.
