The video was great but it has one problem. The problem was that you make the audiance confuse with paint mix area. It was not one after each other.One time you paint edge then paint centre after that paint again edge. It was not following after each other.

This video really helped me because you explain the WHY behind your techniques and tools in basic science terms. The glossy bathroom ceiling I just retextured and repainted looks almost professional, 100x better than my prior DIY paint jobs. Is there a specific brightness or color temperature you look for in a light? I need to invest in a 120v work light before I start my larger rooms, but I can't justify spending $400 or more. Thanks!

does that apply if you have a textured wall paper on the ceiling, my landlord papered it due to cracks rather than skimming or filling properly.

In a pinch you can connect you’re Wooster GT to a Purdy frame without an adapter I’m not a big fan of they’re roller frames but every now and I have to get one when sherwins out of those grey Wooster clones

How do you stop the roller from spraying small amounts of paint while rolling ceiling

1. Use a high quality thick paint. 2. Use a 1/2” purdy ultra nap roller 3. Roll with a loaded nap-you shouldn’t be rolling with a “light” roller; it should be “heavy,” or “loaded.”

Thank you for another great lesson. I used to assume that a 3/8” nap was ideal for rolling ceilings, but I’m thinking now (after watching this video) that 1/2” might be better because it would allow me to put on more paint and thereby avoid lap marks. Is this your rationale for choosing 1/2”?

I should have mentioned in the video that half inch nap allows you to continue working without dipping into your paint tray; half inch holds a lot more pain than 3/8

Hi Spencer, I presume you are doing 2 coats after the sealer coat. Will you roll those in different directions is my question? Thanks very much. Rob (from Australia)

@@spencercolgan great advice. If painting over an already painted ceiling , then one thick coat as well? And for your one thick coat over the sealer on your vid, I’m presuming that’s in the same direction?

@@robhornerweddings4644 Correct. One direction. If over primer, one direction for the primer. I change it for the paint coat unless……the room is so much smaller from one wall to its opposite that I can stand in the middle of the room and reach all the way from one end to the other without lifting the roller off the ceiling, then I prefer to do that! It’s better if you don’t have to interrupt the flow of the roller unless you have to.

😂 Can you please come paint the lower half of my Home please 😢 I just had the upper level professionally painted.. Thinking I was going to save Thousands of dollars by doing it myself 😢😢 I'm calling the professionals back in to finish. I can't handle seeing dings and cracks it drives me crazy

Why doesn't wetting the roller at the start cause watery paint to fall on your head during those first passes? It appeared you soaked your rollers and then did nothing to lighten the amount of water in them. The start of the video was painfully repetitive and slow but I sped up the speed, hung in there and you provided a lot of great tips. I hope there is a video on painting the ceiling edge.

You make a great point. Wet wet wet your roller with paint. If it’s dripping, you have cheap paint. Start in an area far enough from your wall or ceilings beginning, then go over to the beginning of the wall or ceiling with a roller that is now sufficiently saturated with paint in order to get a nice layout.

I’m a pretty decent DIY painter and have taken a few paying paint jobs here and there for extra cash. Absolutely hate ceilings but I think my technique is wrong - I tend to end up leaning back and painting directly overhead and get spatters all over my face and a lot of pain the next day. Have a ceiling job next week and will try to use better technique. Love your style - very informative. One thing I picked up on this video is how you quickly lift the roller off the surface when changing direction. I’m sure that helps avoid a smear or drag mark from the roller quickly going from backward to forward. You have a new subscriber!

Ever since my injury, my motor response has been that I cannot articulate my ideas correctly and so, what used to take me three minutes, now takes me literally 10 minutes. I am so sorry, Mr Anthony lowe
