An old friend? I thought Megamind was completely alone and didn't have friends....wasn't that the point? He didn't have anyone to socialize with so he flopped on his language and social cues. It's what made him charming in combination with being genuinely good.

Once Megamind became a superhero, what happened next was left to imagination. The moral of the first and only film, in my humble opinion, was: "Don't let society define you. You have a choice. E.g You can either be a superhero or a musician." I wanted a sequal, but after entering adulthood, I realized that it was perfect without one. Also, that annoying girl said that these events are happening a few days after the first film. If that's true, then you wouldn't be recording his podium speech with your 2024 mobile device.

MY sister and I had a talk and she immedietley noticed that there was no group, and they could *not* have exited as Megamind was a VERY lonely person. He had no friends and was constantly getting in and out of jail. There's no room for them to even make sense.

The worst part about this is that when (not if, WHEN) this absolutely flops, they will interpret it as "people dont want more Megamind" instead of "people dont want low budget garbage cash grabs."

Megamind was one of my favorite dream works movies, so it genuinely pisses me off that this sequel exists.

How I would incorporate the doom syndicate into the canon would be to have them as opportunistic up and coming rookie supervillains inspired by Megamind’s defeat of Metroman, and seeking tutelage from him in the ways of evil. This would parallel him teaching the girl from the trailer in being a hero, and forces him to make a difficult choice between maintaining the bond between people who look up to him or breaking that pedestal to save the city.

Imo the best plot for a sequel would be Megamind struggling to be a hero. He's so used to being on the other side that he has no idea how to do it. After the Titan incident he finds out why Metro Man got so bored and tired, and keeping expectations up is beyond difficult as well as balancing his relationship with Roxanne. For a villain I'd choose a parody of Brainiac who is responsible for destroying Metro Man and Megamind's planets. This wouldn't be revealed until the last third of the movie. I'd have this villain be a genius like Megamind but on a whole other level, who tries to tempt and persuade megamind to join him and be evil again since he admires megaminds intellect. I'd also have Metro Man come out of retirement for one last adventure and team up with megamind to defeat the villain.

This feels like Ice Age: The Adventures of Buck Wild, None of the Original Cast returning (except Simon Pegg who still voiced Buck) and cheap animation quality. Nothing can beat the original Megamind movie. It may underated but it's a funny and classic movie.

I think the sequel should go like this: Edit: also ik this story i made sucks and has a ton of holes in it, but im not a professional writer and I haven’t watched megamind in a while, and really anything is better than the worthless garbage some random dude pulled out of his a*s for a cheap cash grab Megamind is falling from space into earth and starts the movie off the same way the first one did and he tells a story about how Megamind is the hero of metro city, and he travels around the city, looking for evil doers to stop, he goes throughout the day stopping robbers and other criminals, the way he catches all of them is by turning them into cubes, and takes them to the jail, once he gets there he pours water on them and the criminals are locked up. Then he stops talking and it becomes first person. He reminisces about how this used to be his home, and he was raised here. He then goes home after a long day of fighting crime, and begins to think about being raised in the jail, and he remembers the last words his parents spoke to him “you are destined for-“ he has everything he could ever want, yet he’s still not content. He then thinks to himself “I wonder what destroyed my planet” and realizes that metro mans planet was also destroyed. He goes to metro man and they both talk about the fact that their planets were destroyed, and whatever destroyed them must be something incredibly evil. Megamind (being bored of fighting small criminals) wants to make a big difference, and find out about his parents, what killed them, and what he was destined for. He and metro man uncover clues, and try to solve the mystery of their planets being destroyed, and they figure out that a giant laser was shot into both of their planets, and they trace the lasers back to another planet, both of them then build a spaceship together, and fly into outer space, and land on the planet from which the lasers came. The laser is very similar to the one that Megamind created to destroy metro man. They continue to explore and find the blueprint for the laser, and the plans to destroy their planets. Suddenly, creatures that look similar to minion surround and capture metro man and mega mind, and this time they trap metro man in a cage made of his true weakness (some sort of space version of copper) the minions take them into a secret hideout, where a man with red skin, and a huge head is sitting on a throne, his name is giga brain, and he was the one that destroyed both of their homes, he says that he was always ridiculed on megaminds planet because he was red instead of blue, and his brain was bigger than everyone else’s, and he says he didn’t really care about metro man and he accidentally blew up his planet. Then he says that he has been observing megamind, and respects his control over earth, he offers to help megamind gain control over the entire planet, and eliminate evil once and for all. Gigabrain also offers to tell Megamind about his parents and his past. but megamind refuses as he believes that he was meant to choose his own destiny, and gigabrain has no choice but to destroy earth and let them watch as he does. But minion slips out of his body and gets in front of the laser to sacrifice himself and save earth. The laser shoots and minion deflects the laser back into itself exploding the planet gigabrain is on. The deflection sends minion flying towards earth, and metroman and megamind are both launched by the explosion into earth just like the beginning of the first movie.

Here is a better plot for the sequel *(added extra bit at the end)* Megamind is now a worldwide known celebrity who done his best to help mankind in the past few years. One day he discover the remains of his pod within a dump where he find plans for a device that could save his and metroman peoples. The both of them (alongside minion and some other character) venture across the globe seeking the part needed for the machine, and a way to recharge the binkey that supposedly contains vital information (Codes, coordinate, etc) Near the end of the second act they are faced with a dilemma as is it is discovered the device would destroy the earth in the process of saving their homeworld(s) They decide it isn't worth sacrificing their new home to save another but out of nowhere his robot start going against his command and minion steal the key, revealing his purpose was to ensure magamind fulfill his. The third part of the movie focusses on megamind, metroman and humanity trying to stop minion from activating the machine. Culminating into an epic space battle where minion is showed the error of his way and sacrifice himself (not really) to save the world and fix his mistakes *Someone on another comment section questioned the reasoning behind the invention, the black whole and minion motivation. Gave a quick summary to what could explain such radical actions* Lets say.. their planet was located a few dozen lightyears away and the device purpose was to intercept light form the past to recreate their homeworld using quantum powered photons. The black whole that had destroyed their world was created during an experiment aimed at producing an infinite amount of energy, and because of its sudden collapse only a few pod could escape the planet in time. Megamind happened to be the sole individual that could be launched out of the planet without being sucked in His parent had no idea earth harbored life, as their observation hadn't confirmed the presence of intelligent life. This device was their last resort, the technology hadn't been tested and the time/frame where it could be used was very short because of how light function Minion on the other hand struggled with his purpose for years, and hoped it would never come to this. Believing the device had been lost when they landed on earth, but the discovery put a lot of pressure on him and he eventually came to the conclusion (maybe) they could recreate earth somewhere else after saving themselves

Holy shit as an animation student I can’t believe they left that joint popping at 0:16 near his shoulder in the final cut for the trailer. I’m pretty sure it was literally just caused by them forgetting to key it or smooth it out in the graph editor if they were using Maya. That’s a mistake I would make sleep deprived at 3 am 2 minutes before a project’s due on my 6th cup of coffee, not something you’d expect from a huge production team run by freaking Dreamworks. Edit: It could also be the fault of the riggers for building a skeleton that isn’t versatile enough to allow the arm to rotate like that. Either way the rig broke and that scene still somehow made the final cut which is bananas.

What I feel they’ve could’ve done instead of them all being old friends, is that they could’ve instead be super fans of his and been training to become as big villains as he was. And them wanting to work together with him, as they probably don’t know about his change of path. But all throughout the movie Megamind would instead try to get them to become heroes instead. Anyway, I really don’t think that this movie should’ve gotten a sequel. Like it was perfect on its own.

Now it's gone forever - Megamind is played by Keith Ferguson, the voice of about a million background characters and 17 "Cars" shorts. - They seem to have dropped the white outfit. I guess he didn't look all that good in white after all - IMDb also lists Jason Momoa as playing Steve in the Minecraft movie. Take it with a grain of salt - Give us the video game breakdowns - 14:40 Did you say "babblebop"? - We've won, but at what cost?

The animation looks like an ad for a mobile game, a mobile game that doesn't look anything like the ad. This is a total cashgrab.

when i clicked on the trailer it took me nearly the whole thing to realize it wasnt a fake trailer. mostly cause of the reused footage with a new voice over it but also the nasty looking animation. truly a tragedy in our modern times.

Good thing Megamind was so amazing as a standalone movie that they never had to do a sequel or a tv show, yup there is not and never will be another piece of megamind media, just the classic one movie :)

It just looks super rushed. Like they just noticed the surge in popularity that Megamind had a few years ago and decided to whip out a Disney-esq direct-to-dvd quality sequel as well as a filler show for children that was common for them to do at the time of the original's release. I honestly wouldn't be surprised they really were just taking some decade-old animations for an abandoned show, polishing it up and redubbing, and releasing it now.

Can't wait for Schaffrillas's opinion of this. He is going to lose his mind. (Since he made the Megamind is a hidden masterpiece)

Fun fact, the Doom Syndicate actually originated from the Megamind video games that released shortly after the movie. In one/two games (according to wikipedia, two titles across different platforms like DS and Playstation, but the same game), they free Tighten which Megamind has to fight him and the Syndicate, then another game on the Wii [Mega Team Unite] was more of a party game where you complete missions to finish with a high score. Either way, they were just an apparent upcoming villain group, and they appear shortly after the movie's events with no apparent connection to Megamind himself from what I gather. So we already had a better sequel technically with the video games, why not stick with some plot like those had?
