Memphis drafted the NBA Rookie of the Year in a steal with the ninth pick in the draft and you don’t even know it yet.

Grizz fans love it when Memphis is ignored. We literally don't want the attention. Memphis feeds off of disrespect and it manifests itself on the court.

I just pray to God its not another injury riddled season for Memphis. Super talented team hopefully the injury bug doesn't hit them bc they definitely are not only an exciting team but they can literally contend especially if edey comes in and performs well. They dont even need edey to be special just do his job. If ja has learned his lesson for good and the injuries don't affect them their definitely dangerous

Great video. I think everybody's criticisms of Eady are overblown... he performed better and faster than Clingan at nearly all exercises at the combine... That aside, he is a frighteningly fast learner and was simply playing the role his coach wanted him to at Purdue for their system. He has clearly shown an ability to adapt and improve frighteningly fast, which in my opinion means that come 1st game of the season wont be too long before Eady is fully in the grizz "system". Just food for thought.

GG Jackson would've been an easy top 3 pick if he declared for the draft this past year... he's still younger than exactly HALF of the first round picks in the 2024 draft.

If Purdue fans learned anything from Edey is that any criticism you have with his game he’ll work to turn it into a strength. He got stronger and quicker throughout college and really developed his stamina his senior year. He was a two time NPOY for a reason. Really reliable and productive scorer (also he was 2x all big ten defense; he affects a lot of shots)

This team was the #2 seed in the west the two seasons before last years before l/l injury fest. No expectations this year. Why not, Edney will be better than Adam’s ( yes he will) Smart is as good as Dillion. Then add in GG and Williams.

Man, Memphis are the biggest robbers of all. They just stole the soon to be ROTY with the No.9 pick plus also stole a future MVP with the 45th pick from last years draft in GG Jackson. That might be a stretch, but he's going to be a Superstar regardless an with Ja, Des, Jaren, Smart an the rest of the Grizzlies this team is legit a Dangerous Squad.

We have a few areas of opportunity but injuries by far has been the issue with us the last 3 seasons

Jackson drafted in 2018, Morant in 2019, and Bane in 2020. I dont know the number but the number of minutes the 3 have played together I feel is pretty low considering the number of seasons they have been together. I think they can be great and would be more developed playing together if they could get the consistent time on court together. Stay healthy and out of trouble. Do that and I feel like there is no ceiling to what this team could accomplish.

Problem with Grizz is Ja morant plays about 60-70 games a season, he is injury prone. I watch all the Grizzles games. So his availability always affects the team. Second Jaren Jackson is prone to foul trouble. 3rd is Ja Morant. This guy got suspended 2 times already. A 3rd time maybe? People quickly forget his antics the last 2 years. Mind you Marcus Smart is also injury prone. The Grizz half court offense sucks by the way. The problem is they don't have a legit mid range player and they don't have enough 3pt snipers. They drafted 2 shooters in the draft so lets hope they pan out. Edy I think is going to be a 12pt 10reb 2blk kinda guy. I hope Grizz keep Lenard 3pt shooting. Next year Grizz season will be a testing year for them. Don't think they are ready for winning the chip yet. Its easy to dream big here, but lets be real now, they not ready until they shown they win about 60+ games, then lets make them a contender. Most championship teams win 60+ games.

Pretty solid take. The part I'd take issue with is how you look at Edey. It's really the same issue I have with most takes on the guy: everyone is like "Well, I dunno if how he's going to be on defense; that could be a liability." The question isn't so much will he be able to defend other people, it's really about whether or not they can defend him. I just don't really think there are too many centers in the NBA who won't get bullied by him. Clingan was considered the best defender at the 5 in that draft class and it was like he wasn't even there in that championship game. On the flip side, Edey had no problem shutting Clingan down.
