Everyone who creators and have studied, much like Chef, took years to work on their craft. Im sure when fans think they can do what Creators do right away must irk them. I feel like with John leguzamo it wasn’t about him seeing a bad movie but seeing a person who had no direction that just did his art for the money without caring about quality kind of similar to how he lost his joy for his work especially on his one day off when he was depressed only reminded him of the position he was in with his work. Just making food for people without a joy for the art and the only positive thing he got from it was money but the money and mental struggle made the money meaningless.

Before I got my degree in culinary, I remember I was taking patissiere(advance baking and pastry) I remember my chef giving my class a article on a chef who wanted to create a dessert that would be delicious and exciting for his dining guest. I remember in the article that he created a dessert shaped like mini soccer balls and it had to be launched on a machine and fly in the the guest mouth. The result was it made a mess but people did enjoy the show to the dessert and that it tasted delicious. When I read it, I found it too pretentious. I wanted to bake dessert because I wanted to make people and children happy and how people made playing with food fun. Not this I'm rich so I need the top ingredients, nothing less. During that time putting edible gold was really popular on desserts at the time I thought it was ridiculous. But seeing it's what rich desire and would pay high for it. I ended up doing it too in my home baking. It doesn't add anything but if you add gold it make a dessert that looks fine but makes it look more gourmet and expensive.

91% on Rotten Tomatoes “While its social commentary relies on basic ingredients, The Menu serves up black comedy with plenty of flavor.” As black comedies go this is deliciously funny but at the same time effectively dark The food is delicate as are the players and it's bloody-filled Chefs play with the raw materials of life, food is more than just serving it's about a concept, themes and telling w story, is nothing arbitrary in the kitchen?, our culture is sadly about constantly pleasing everyone, the search for perfection is impossible, cooking is a delicate art but easy to take offense to like a sharp knife A majority of this I can definitely take seriously, be disturbed I think it's the very last scene where I couldn't help but attempt to burst out laughing, it was just so goofily abstract given everything we've seen up to this point Still for food lovers, cooks, and horror being black with a sense of humor it hits the right buds as it touches on food culture Sharp bites about our society too being satirical of wealthy, submissive diners who respond to cruelty Joy and Fiennes have such sizzling presence given the roles they sink into A genuine feat for the senses if not the brain itself Think of it as a twisted Willy Wonka adventure Someone's goose is truly cooked...

I never like the word foodie, I prefer food connoisseur. I agree with Korey, I never liked rich people bragging about food they never made. All they do is eat. It's the chefs and staff that do the work. It's why I despise people who act entitled whether it's a 5 star restaurant or McDonald's.

As for the movie being a horror or suspense, 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE falls into that in-between, doesn't it. I don't mind comedy being added into horror/suspense. There's a bit of comedy in GET OUT and quite a bit of it in NOPE. It works for me. Sometimes, we find ourselves tabled up in ludicrous experiences that end up traumatizing the hell out of us. Laughter can swerve into screams easily.

Believe it or not, it's not that we usually refuse to make something like a burger, it's we don't have ingredients to make that on short notice, if you pay the premium most of the time we will shrug and make one provided we have it, or if it's a special order. Most restaurants I've worked at do not have raw mince just on hand, almost always it's used to make something beforehand. You might not think about it but a good burger actually needs some set up to be made, it's not just mince with seasoning, and I used to enjoy making sliders on sunday lunches, nice spicy sweet chutney and some salted pickles and caramelised onion...

Saw this movie last night and it was one of those "It looked more interesting, so why not" choices. And needless to say, it's definitely one of those films to check out. Has a good blend of suspense and comedy

The trailers made me assume this was a pretentious up-its-own-ass horror movie, but it's actually kind of a satire of that kind of mindset? Might have to check it out.

The scene when the sous chef shoots himself is haunting and captures the pain, anxiety, depression and utter hopelessness that consumes you when you pursue becoming a chef. 20 years in the industry and when he started tearing up and said he didn't want the life anymore that rocked my soul.
