Saw this last night at the Barbican; really good, such an excellent production; Falstaff in particular was a masterpiece of control and acting skill, but all involved were top rate. It may not be the most respected of Shakespeare's works, but it was a truly memorable portrayal of the vanity of mankind, and all in such infectious good humour, it was a joy from start to finish.

Act 1, Scene 1 contains the words Custalourum, Rato-lorum and Armigero. What do these words mean? You can use simple words. What would you advise to indicate in the footnotes to those readers who are not yet familiar with the work of Shakespeare?
