I’ve watched tons of creek/river vids by all the KZfaqrs. This one alone taught me more that just clicked in my head instantly as true, than I’ve seen in countless other vids. Obviously haven’t tried any of this yet but actually feel more confident after watching this. Thank you.

Gotta get out and just try. Watching videos is one thing, but you need time on the river to hone your skills. It is not an instant gratification thing. But Vogus is one of the best video creators out there on the subject.

@@Washing_Dirt_Prospecting oh bro I’m trying. I been hauling 100 lb buckets uphill both ways in a gorilla cart to run through my sluice. Yeah this is the best vid there is abt what to do once u may have found a deposit. I’m learning. Nobody makes vids abt what it’s like in my area, that explains anything. KZfaq is a tool and I use the shit outta it.

Im glad you did and extended video of infield prospecting. this was your bread and butter and were you started and grew your channel. never stop the basics Chris " we newbies need this". But that doesn't mean stop chacing Ore, and detecting 😂. Just saying your instructions on prospecting "not mining" makes the difference to be a better miner. I for one APPRECIATE IT MATE.

Yea for me at least on the creek i go for production whether im sluicing or panning im really not concerned with loosing gold,im confident enough in my panning skills where im getting 95% of the gold, like Chris i take my cons home to further process in a closed system consisting of a tub, saftey pan and surfactant. The time on the creek is spent moving gravels as efficiently as possible while keeping an exceptable loss rate, when i first started i found myself spending to much time being worried about losing gold that it took some of the fun out of the whole experience of being out there, great video Chris.

Nice! The POV for the people who actually cannot get to a gold bearing creek though... pov the many (MANY AND MORE MANY) holes dug and washed and panned that are empty... maybe not great for production views, but would show the real appreciation to when the $.20 pans are hit one after another. Chris, that is a substantial amount of gold! As you have told us throughout your Reedy Creek videos, finding any great amount of gold is rare (along with nuggets). So cheers to you on finding the best pay streak. I appreciate you educating us on the correct best to test and why. Furthermore, you shared many great tips such as identifying the layers, or why you pan like you do for expediting the process (more gold vs. efficiency). I really learned a lot from you today even though I've been following you for a long time. Thank you for that incredible insight! 🧐 I'm taking this knowledge and would offer an extra tip (although I've never panned for gold in my life): prospectors need to invest their time into the history of an area through research first. You know all about the Creek's history and how it flows over time. That is extremely valuable information to have before prospecting. It's why you look at it, apply history/knowledge of it, then make a plan to follow the gold. Then bingo, GOLD! Blessings from Alabama ❤️

I’m using the minelab 10inch pan, it wash easier the gravel, with a well shake big rock came up without classifying. I Really like doing 5-10 pan without drop too much in the heavy, then after drop the heavy to a tablespoon, collect the rough gold in the bottle, but not throwing away the heavy, just keep filling it, its kind of fast production panning, Get really good recovery this way, more you pan, more you gold, most of loss is the superfine, a decade of panning will master the panning technique to his very best, to a point that often sluice or highbanking not really worth the speed and recovery of a well experienced panner, sometime when the gold deposits is well defined, highbanking gonna work well, but after few time I get an highbanker, I didn’t produce more than I just bring a pan, shovel and bottles, and captain morgan as a good back pain killer 😆

I find that if I pan fast then I get most of the gold like you and others do. I’m not sure if I’m losing gold while I’m classifying my material or from the actual panning. I’m usually in a shallow spot with decent flow so a lot of the blond sands get washed away from the tailings. I just pan my tailings before I leave for the day and end up collecting a good portion of that lost gold anyway.

I Don't think Jeff Williams Pans too Fast. The Gold does Emerge from the Tailings though. I believe the Tailings are Oxidizing and Releasing a small amount of Gold as Material Fractures over time. It's a Mistake to think of Tailings as being Chemically Stable. Decomposition of Tailings Releases a Small Amount of Trapped Gold.
