Oh my god, I cannot tell you how many times I've felt like I was being yanked around by an Inkbrush. Fighting an endless 3v4 while the brush on my team generates 40 pity clams for them and the 30 points they've gotten are thoroughly destroyed by the opponents' actually coordinated push. (And in turn, I've been on the coordinated team playing against 'brush who runs in and scores one power clam'!)

as a frontliner , this is something i experience FAR too often in solo queue and absolutely something i need to work on . i depend far too much on the hud to see who is and isnt alive , and usually assume if theyre _alive_ , they are in a position to _fight_ basically going forward i need to remember the map exists LOL ( of course that is not all i need to do to improve but you get the point )

I really appreciate your mindset about the trislosh. It would be really easy to go “oh the trislosher is an idiot, and that’s why we lost”. You could argue that you already had the lead - why play to win when all you need to do is not lose? I don’t think playing trislosh like it’s an eliter is the *right way to do that*, but… Anyway, I appreciate that you took the time for self reflection instead of just writing it off. The hud gives you a pinch of information about teammate location by looking at the amount of time that has gone by since they respawned. If they’ve only been in play for a second or two, they’re not gonna be anywhere near you.

I do this ALL the time unless someone is sitting next to me and watching me play. Sometimes it gets me nowhere. Sometimes I get 7 splats in a row (turf war mainly) and my team still manages to be nowhere on the map to be seen. Sometimes my team IS coincidentally nearby to help me.

This is the kind of discussion that I think anyone who plays any game can benefit from hearing. I've been playing a lot of a small playerbase moba and all I can say is that the high level playerbase consistantly ignores what their teammates want to do or doesn't look at where they are on the map, or in fights they push very aggressively and the teammates weren't ready for it or in a position where they could even help without getting themselves killed

This is something I love about this game. I like the limited communication, so you HAVE to keep an eye on your team and know where they are and work around them. It's hard to do but it makes you a better player.

2:10 usually my solution to this problem is to just watch the map and see were my teammates are positioned. that way i know if they can move up and help me or not. you also get the bonus to make a play that pinch someone on the enemy team if you try to position in a way were the enemy has to deal with you (that can or can't see) and your teammate.

this might be low-key one the best videos for team coordination. As FLC said "something is always going wrong". So many of the pick ups or SendouQ sessions I play with have this problem where we expect the plan that is said over comms to go exactly like it was said/planned. Many lower level players (including me) try to take shortcuts of getting information and ending making way worse decisions then if we slowed down and thought a little harder Definitely will have this video in my re-watch everyone 3 months or so catalogue

One of my biggest struggles as a frontline is awareness of teammates. Once I engage I lose all awareness outside my immediate field of vision and just sort of blindly hope that teammates are around to capitalize. It leads to long losing streaks where my K/A would say I'm playing really well. V-slosher has been helping me with that recently as I physically can't move as fast as something like a v-shot so I end up taking more coordinated fights, but I've struggled to get that lesson to stick long-term for years

Honestly your introspection never ceases to amaze me, because this is absolutely my fatal flaw in soloq and I know it. I just know I would have been splatted, opened the map, seen all my teammates in mid/ by spawn and immediately tilted, so this is something I really needed to hear.
@Smug-Sonic
@Smug-Sonic 5 ай бұрын
Imo this is the biggest hurdle that frontline players need to overcome. It's really easy to just ignore your team and charge headfirst at the opponent, thinking "If I splat them then we'll be at an advantage", but playing with your team can improve the odds that of you actually getting that advantage. Remember kids, don't be a Putz12!

One of the big benefits of comms among experienced players is that they talk about this kind of thing instinctively. While it's not the same information bandwidth and response as looking at something, hearing these things takes a lot of mental load out of decision making in the moment. It "makes everyone smarter." For example, someone in this situation could simply tell Gem "we can't push." More interestingly, someone could speed up another decision for Gem a few seconds earlier, making it easier for Gem to cover more bases on planning his follow-up play. The benefits you get from comms speeding up decision making cascade down to future decisions because it lowers everyone's mental load.

I think there's a balance to expectations of team mates, should they be reading your mind? No. Should you able to position yourself/try to push a play based on expecting them to be doing what their weapons want to be (i.e, NOT sitting on plat and throwing fizzy bombs)? Yes. You still probably would have been splatted with the tri backing you up, but if he was up front with you there would probably have been other plays available to you as a result that could have been successful.

One of the things that's helped me develop decent pushes with solo q teammates is whether or not I literally see them nearby on the map. Regardless of advantage, if I can't actually see them, there isn't a lot they can do for me, nor me for them. Is the mindset at least

There is sometimes, like a little probability (probably 1%) that me and my teammates have the same idea which is great but yeah, the point of the game is good, thinking my teammates have the same ideas isn't solving anything, also don't just do anything yourself but try and be a little "independant"

As a Solo Q tetras main I struggle with this so hard. I focus so much on flanking and outmaneuvering my opponents so much that I forget to pay attention to my team at all. My playstyle kind of necessitates that I split off from them frequently but even when I do that it's still important to have some awareness of what's happening with my team. Ultimately my goal with getting behind enemy lines in the first place is to enable a push for the rest of my team -_ there's no point in doing that if I don't make sure they're all alive as well.

This approach applies to a lot of different team games as well. Any kind of game with tanky frontliners designed to draw enemy attention and/or crowd control them tend to be low on damage to compensate their disruptive nature and thus rely on team mates to followup when the enemy has expended their resources on the tank or while they're stunned from the engage. The best mechanically executed engage doesn't really matter if you don't have a team in the position or ability to follow it up.

hello, i had a question on something and figured you would be the best person to ask for advice on it. I am currently a ~1800 xp grey Nzap player, and i've been having issues with... i would say staggering. a lot of my games go in a similar way: i'll play decently all game, getting a few good pushes and then holding those, but at one point, i'll always start dying a lot in a row and then my team will be lacking a cooler and we'll lose. did you have a video on recognizing this kind of stagger loop and how to avoid it?
@SquidSchool
