The clock counts down as Dame takes his time getting into the set. 7,6,5 Dame takes a dribble, steps up hits a crossover steps back, rises up takes the shot for the win. Does he make it or not? The Celtics’ first six are scary. They can play bully ball with Horford and Porzingis, or stretch you out with Tatum at the 4. An improved Derek White gets the chance to step into an even more prominent role, and Holiday adds championship experience to a core that already has plenty of playoff experience. Losing Smart and Williams III might hurt Celtics fans, but the reality is you have to give up value to get value. Swapping Smart, Williams, and an unhappy Brogdon for two legitimate all-stars in Porzingis and Holiday is a best-case scenario, not to mention that it sends Tatum and Brown the message that the franchise is committed to them.

That being said he still had huge moments last year in his role, such as when the players forced Joe to finally start him in games 6 and 7 Vs the sixers. And also, while this doesn’t mean he was going to get back to that post injurt,, the man was an all star of all star role players in 21/22. 7th in the entire league in win shares! 9.9!! And that is a volume stat and he only played 60 games or so! Still top 7! An all defense player and honeslty maybe he should have won DPOY. Good videos out there break it down. His defensive ability allowed the Celtics to play a type of defnese that was possibly the best D since fresking, idk, a decade plus maybe? He was simply put a huge difference maker. We were always better with him in a bigger role. I know he frustrates old school discipline style coaches and fans, but that’s rigitity. He was overall a huge positive impact. Might be big misrake to give up on him, but due to injuries it might be a great idea?

Marcus, Grant and Timelord were 3 of my favorite Celtics ever It's tough to see them all go in one off season. Great guys, great players. Marcus especially was the heart and soul of the team. That will be impossible to replicate but if Jrue can approximate what he brought this team could be special. Biggest question is consistency- they looked like the best team of all time to start last year and had stretches where they looked like one of the worst. Maddening inconsistency. We'll see if Joe has what it takes in year 2- he's the biggest ? to me.

We will just have to see how it unfolds. I feel the same way, seems like we lost two defensive anchors. Yet I have a feeling that this will unlock the full potential of both Jays, forcing them to be the leaders of the team, hopefully this brings the dog out of JT and the pickup of a solid true PG will help with some of the turnovers. How I think of the Celtics offseason, as a fan. We traded Brogdon + Rob for KP and a 1st. Then we traded Smart and a 1st for Holiday. And trade Grant for 2-3 2nds. We definitely upgraded Rob to KP. And the 1st we got in that trade, netted us Jordan Walsh and 2-3 more 2nds. I believe the Smart to Holiday move to essentially be lateral due to the trade-offs each brings. But also by moving on from Grant and Brog, we now have playing time for Pritchard and Hauser, who i both think fit 110% more with our team than the prior mentioned players. As well as high upside players with high defensive moters like Danalo Banton, Lamar Stevens, and Oshae Brissett. Also adding a court spacer like Svi. I think this offseason was a huge success and our roster looks a hell of a lot better especially at the top than last year, while the back end of the lineup is no slouch.

Nah, they know. The bet is that they can make everyone else's life difficult with how stacked they are on the perimeter defensively and live with Giannis putting up great numbers. The reason I'm not that concerned is that, as hard a time as Boston will have stopping Giannis, I have even less confidence in Milwaukee stopping basically anything the Cs want to do. I mean, seriously, what is the plan? Giannis is awesome on the defensive end, and Lopez is a good tradional rim defender, but Boston is going to play a ton of 5 out offense, which brings both rim defenders away from the rim and takes Lopez out of his comfort zone and puts him at a huge disadvantage against basically whoever he's assigned to guard. Then the rest of the starting lineup are average defenders at best. Lillard and Beasley are flat out turnstiles. I just think Boston is a terrible matchup for them on defense now that they can't put Holiday on Tatum.

And he will help Kristoff as well. This should be exciting in my opinion. Because I didn’t know how the Celtics were going to compete besides the Brown, and Tatum. But now with holiday and Kristof and white either starting to coming off the bench. And they just signed the other young guard number 11. Two a three-year deal guaranteed. This is going to get real interesting. Thanks for the video. A great job done.

Coughing the ball up like that has to haunt Booker. If he hits that bucket and they win the game and move on to game 6 we could be taking about the bucks choking and Booker being that dude, but now it's just "that flukey year the Suns went to the finals."

2022 playoffs. I think Jrue showed us all who’s the better player between him and Marcus. I mean Marcus won DPOY and then Jrue looked like the real thing.. while being voted by players as the best defender.

You guys do realize that the starting 5 can’t play 48 mins every game right? How are the Celtics gonna beat anyone when they have a no name bench and no one to stop Giannis from coming down hill.
@schuylersavage2769 ай бұрын
Either white or horford off the bench is a great 6th man. Pritchard is a 40 percent shooter from deep who has already played legit productive minutes in deep playoff games. PP is a guy who could easily average 20 a game for a crap team. Just look at what he does whenever he gets a spot start here and there or some legit minutes. Hauser is another consistent 40 percent shooter from 3. But I do admit they definitely could use another big off the bench, a legit big. But Honeslty rookie or not, if Jordan Walsh can play 13 minutes per game off the bench and just being defensive energy and length? That could be huge as well. I just don’t think the Celtics bench is AS empty as people have been saying. The Celtics have literally been the example of having TOO much depth at times over the last half decade or so. They also have Kornet. He can’t really stay on the floor come later playoff rounds, but he definitely is very solid for them during backup minutes in the reg. Brissett is no star role player, BUT he has had offensive success at the NBA level at times. Starting for the Pacers at times isn’t like a WOW Resume builder, but he clearly is a capable NBA player. He can be on the floor and at least hold his own. Davidson idk. Banton idk. Queida, or however you say it? Idk anything about him. Oh also Svi, he’s another veryyyyy capable shooter off the bench for them. Having pritchard, Svi and Sam on your bench isn’t nothing. Can any of them provide good enough defense for the system the Celtics employ? That’s a question, but on the offensive side of the ball? Those 3 getting wide open catch and shoot looks off the bench all seaosn long? That can legit be very very very good for Boston. Clearly they are going all in on shooting in a lot of aspects, and they were already close to the best shooting team in the league, and You might argue the data says the Celtics staff can make anyone into an even better shooter

@@schuylersavage276 you’re naming all shooter give me a bench lineup really quickly that’s gonna go against either the bucks on the east or the Denver bench on the west if you can give a reasonable lineup I’ll digress
@Clarkadoodledoo.9 ай бұрын
@@schuylersavage276 they’re gonna get torched when their bench is in and there is no way around it if they make finals they have to go against the west bench what are they gonna do? Denver, Kings, Warriors, Lakers, Suns, Oklahoma, hell even the damned Pelicans. Let’s forget the east for a second all those west teams are stacked top to bottom yes completely agreed they have a WONDERFUL starting 5 and a great 6th but a starting group can’t play 48 mins throughout the entire playoffs. The nets tried it, the suns tried it. You’re not gonna win without a bench and no interior defense. Al horford was great in last series against Giannis because 1. He had help and 2. They could build a wall. How is Al horford gonna stop Giannis 1 on 1 in the post come on guys let’s be serious Brooke Lopez gonna bring porzingis to the perimeter and leave Al out there with Giannis. Imagine what jokic would do to either al or kp.

While Jrue is and upgrade from Smart, and the Celtics will be exceptionally formidable being one of the top 2 teams in the East. I still don't trust them. Tatum is soft, until proven otherwise. All these move are great and do make them better, but as long as Tatum is the guy, I don't see it happening, I don't think he has it in him.

As someone whose watched jrue he’s pretty much Marcus smart with less accolades. Cux he always best jrue first team d every year. He was very controversial in Milwaukee for his lackluster offense. Media is far overhyping this
