i am an nsmq contestant we don't use this methods though it correct ... we used extremely short stricks and rules.. we just devide the exponent by the last digit . for instance 64 last digit is 4 .so 64 divided by 4 = 16 does answer. again 1024 last digit is 4 so 1024 divided 4 = 256 .for the first quesion we have rule which says that when the last digit of the exponent is 1 divide the number by the base . 3 exponent 81 will be 81 divided by 3 =27
