Minecraft Preview 1.20.30.20 is a huge brand new beta that has added new villager mechanics, diamond generation, wandering trader trades, and a lot more. Even more hugely though, the new Minecraft Update will officially support shaders, built into vanilla minecraft without things like optifine or RTX. I love the look of bedrock shaders, they feel perfectly placed into the game’s artstyle and is soft on the eyes. It feels like a Minecraft world still and not as crazy sharp as some shader packs get

The torches look a little weird with the bedrock shaders, they emit light, but they don't look like they're glowing, they look like a stick with some yellow paint on one end. I hope they make improvements on that.

Well fn it's just a test, an experiment that the creator is doing, the texture pack hasn't released yet so they might do some tweaking to fix that. Or someone else might make a better texture pack.

Hi! I’m so glad that as a traditional Java player you have started covering bedrock as well. It’s awesome that you’re prepared to put the time in to talk about both. As a dad to a Minecraft boy (who is now playing at a higher level 😂💪 I’ll take it) you were the first content creator I properly followed and still to this day keeping me coming back. 💚 PS I totally ripped your double cave spider spawner 👌😆

maybe instead of making it completely biome dependent, it could just make those trades more likely to happen, by a large degree. That would still make it possible to have random book sales, while also balancing it. Doing that, while also changing the way trades change when you break the jobsite and place it down again, could balance the librarian.

6:23 the reason people say they dont like it and dont offer any other "solution" is bc it wasnt considered a problem at first to even begin with. They dont offer an alternative bc the current mechanism is the better option. Why offer a sucky alternative to something good?

i feel as if villagers should still be changed, and not be as inconsistent with trades, like how we currently have them, where you place and break lecterns repeatedly. i think every biome-specific villager should have specific trades like they currently do, however, they're all garunteed. for example, if you find an icy villager, they are garunteed to at some point sell you unbreaking, frost walker, and smite

The reason i don't like the villager changes is that they basically remove the option for people who wants to play minecraft easily, i play on bedrock with like 10-20 of my friends, and most of them are on phones, i used to play on phone and to get villagers it took me hours, to cure them, i died atleast 40 times (because it have to be hard difficulty ofc), if it's harder now, then my server is basically dead, not everyone likes to explore, some of them like to farm, or build, and having good set of enchanted stuff while doing that stuff is fun for them, if minecraft is for everyone then why remove the option for people who enjoys villagers trading? Tbh if you find villagers trading as too easy, simply don't trade, it's an option too But i do understand the changes, i actually don't mind them keeping it, but i just hope they would also give a gamerule (or button like the recipe thing at world setting) to disable this, just like the warden gamerule, so different people can enjoy different things

I want villagers to still have most of the enchantments and at max level but wouldnt mind them being more difficult to obtain. As for the shader for bedrock... i literally cannot wait

I hate the librarian trade change for a couple of reasons and ways it could be fixed. 1. The biome specific trades for books, not opposed to BUT could be made better if villagers were easier to transport. Maybe llamas? 2. The master trade enchantment isn't even the max level enchantment defeating the purpose of getting the perfect tool. If it gives the max trade could be a solution or we could get down to the root of it. 3. The anvil system, redo it completely it sucks anyways. The only reason we use max level books instead of combining the smaller ones is because it leads to less enchantment being available on tools. This has been my TED talk.

YES, THIS IS IT. IVE BEEN WANTING THIS FOR SO LONG. Dont get me wrong, still needs some work with texture and could possibly do with some new light blocks with new colours for it to properly work in shaders, but this is amazing and on the right steps.

So to answer your question about what they should do with villagers instead (because I don't think making it biome specific is the answer), I think they should make some enchantments harder to get. For example, you only have a small chance to get a book from a villager that is at the highest level. I know that will still involve cycling but I truly believe that the way that we have it now it better. But, if they want to make it biome specific we should have more books that we can get for each biome, Because only having 3 specific books that we get from each biome is just not enough. Especially for all of the exploring that we will have to do if it becomes a feature. Those are just my ideas, I honestly hope that they improve on this more because it really isn’t great at the moment imo.

I have the Poggy shaders and the end gets dark and it makes it fun to explore and the nether is so much darker I went into a nether and found a fortress and you can not go in it without torches makes it more fun to explore because of how dark it is. Great shader pack.

Idk if this is dumb but i think that they should make it so that certain enchantments like mending have a really low chance of getting it on plains but have a higher on another biome like jungle or swamp, but idk if this is good or not

I don't really see a problem with how villager trades work currently. Villagers are the only good way to get enchantments like mending on your tools and armour. Unless massive changes and better ways of getting enchantments are introduced, I feel these villager changes only make the game far too tedious.

You're meant to build and explore, without any real objectives or missions. Everything is optional, it's just that kind of game. I was defensive because it seemed like you were saying that none of the updates gave the game any substance.

I like playing single biome worlds for fun so the new trading would be harder to do. If they added jungle and swamp villages then that would also make me more supportive of the change. Villagers are a pain to move! 😂

The biggest sticking point for many people, as far as i can see, ist the whole biome specificity. While encouraging exploration is neat, this forces it. And there are many players who for some reason or another cannot or will not explore for these biomes (players who play on challenge worlds, like superflat or single biome; but also casual players who simply don't want to invest so much time when they can only play a couple hours a week). I think they could keep it as is, but they should add another way to get different biome villagers (One suggestion I've seen is to make randomly spawned zombie villagers have a low chance of being 'foreigners') But really, mojang needs to finally make other methods of enchanting more viable (fishing, but *especially* the og enchant-ing/ment table) and finally get rid of the pointless prior work penalty on anvils, so mending isn't a requirement anymore

You can use any PBR resource pack designed for RTX, and it will add a PBR material for better graphics.

Perhaps they can use the various wood types on the lectern, a jungle wood lectern for jungle type trades, acacia lectern for savanna, etc. It's way less tedious and also removes the rng. If that's too easy, make the lectern with the enchanted book it gives at max level, and add those in chests of the village type, so we are forced to find a village. But we can take it the enchanted book home and build the special lectern in our base in a trading hall still.

Once you begin trading with a villager, their trades are locked in, so all you really need to do is transport two villagers to your preferred biome, breed them, wait for the offspring to grow up, trade with them and then bring them back to your main base/trading hall.

@@danschmidt6206 yeah sure I know I can do that, but transporting villagers is the most annoying part of the game, boats don't go uphill without pistons and 5000 block railroads is also insane. I'm suggesting an alternative way to achieve the same end result. A swamp maybe more than 5000 blocks away, hauling two villagers through the nether and back seems very tedious and is just not fun gameplay. But if you need to craft a lectern with mangrove wood to get a mending librarian, you still need to find and visit a swamp, without all the hassle of getting villagers to breed in there. An alternative could be to add a chest with mending book to a witch hut and add specific lecterns for each type of trade. As it stands a mini base with just the one librarian in each biome is easiest, but I want such things centralized in my main base.

(This is just a joke!) For future things they should change these things. Make Netherite Generation different. They should generate in only one and must be spaced 10,000 Blocks away from each other. Netherite Templates should have their chances of spawning to be 0.0001 percent of appearing in Bastion Chests, inculding in Bastion Treasure Chests. Liberian Villagers should give a 0.000001 percent chance of giving enchants. Raid Farms, Sand Farms, Iron Farms, Gold Farms, and Mob Farms should be removed from the game. Armor should after enchanting have Curse Of Vanishing so when you die, you always lose your armor without being able to get it back. Villager Trading Costs should always be a stack. For example to get Emeralds, 64 Coal for 1 Emerald. And for example using Emeralds, 64 Emeralds for 1 Bookshelf. Zombifying, Hero Of The Village, and getting lower prices for trading should be removed so you can never get anything cheaper ever again. Wither Skeletons should drop Wither Skulls by 0.00000001 percent. This along with no Iron Farms, Raid Farms or Gold Farms will make Beacons harder because they are way too OP and have. This way you have to get 1,476 Minerals by mining to get the amount of blocks you need, then you gotta get the Skulls and summon the Wither.

Regarding the librarian trades, I think this creates issues for single biome worlds. Yes, it is true that you don't "need" enchantments to beat/enjoy the game, your single biome world could have good enough librarian enchaments, and you can use just your enchant own stuff but you can't get mending and mending is too important to have locked behind the swamp biome. My proposed change is keep everything about librarian in the snapshot the same but master level librarian will always having mending. We all know that is what people want. I've never bothered with any librarian trade other than that one.

That and add more enchants to the pool in some biomes. Pickaxe and armor enchants. If you are going to nerf the librarian, make the enchants more common in enchant table.

Currently there is a pack on bedrock tweaks that let's you see all trades. I wonder if they plan on breaking that too in bedrock so each trade is randomly determined when leveled up like on Java.

I think, if anything, they should make it where you have to upgrade the villager to master level to get like protection for and I’m breaking three and all of the good enchantments, but this would be a good way to balance the game, so instead of having to off the rip, get the best enchantments, they make it where you have to upgrade the villager to diamond tier 6:32

Villagers are op and their mechanics have been heavily abused, but it’s been so normalized for so long that it’s now considered a feature when it one day could’ve been considered an exploit. Changing villager mechanics makes a lot of sense, but I don’t think making them biome specific is good for anything. I feel it would be best for villagers and villages to be revamped entirely, being a major dedicated feature of an update, not just an in between updates “1.20.30” patch. Tldr is that the internet has normalized certain strategies that shouldn’t have been made as popular as they are, like “exploiting” villagers for OP trades and iron farms. They aren’t necessarily bad, but the fact that they’re now mainstream is definitely not okay 😂 Idk how best to address that issue specifically but I’d love it if 1.22 or something like that was dedicated to revamping the game with the intention of ironing out kinks that appeared over time thanks to the community finding METAs. Exploits and metas will always exist and will always be popularized, but if 1.22 could be dedicated to rebalancing the game I’d like that a lot.

I have seen two legit complaints about the librarian mechanic. one is that with villagers being as difficult as they are to move, having some of them be potentially vast distance to get a particular trade (Jungle for Mending) would be very bad for trading hall set ups... but the most legit complaint I have seen is that Superflat Worlds don't have biomes and Mending would be forever locked out of Super Flat

Maybe librarian villagers could be linked to chiseled bookshelves somehow. Just an idea, but maybe they will trade books that are in chiseled bookshelves near them. This would mean you would have to go explore to find the first book, adding on to the 1.20 update theme.

Maybe they should make it so you can upgrade villagers differently and that determines the kind of good stuff you can get from them. So for librarians you upgrade them by doing quests maybe or gathering items for them and then they’ll give you something back that you can then use to craft like an upgrade trade or something?

I think that if we change the villager mechanics we should be able to "tame" them! Maybe tell them to stay, or connect them to a specific bed with name tags....maybe they can only wonder around 20 blocks around their specific bed!? I mean overpowered....eh...I've never complained about how "easy" it is to work with villagers lol. In fact they are such a pain to get them to do anything you want lol! By connecting them to an area it could help ease the pain of them getting entirely nerfed! Some people are amazing at this game and some of us just play here and there and really don't feel like fighting villagers mechanics for 3 hours hahaha! I hope the devs can consider the more casual players!

@@NevelaxYT I like the taming/partnering idea, some mechanic to have them follow you would be nice. I would prefer to see initial trades costing less and then the zombie mechanic could get nerfed to not be quite so cheap. I was agreeing with how much of a pain villagers are to work with in general.

Being a Java player, I’m hoping and assuming official shaders will be coming to Java. I’d really love to stop a new mod every month or so. 😅 As for how the shaders look, they’re still in beginning stages and as of now they’re good and we can probably expect great improvements. I’m excited!

On bedrock, we have template worlds that guarantee spawn near each biome, my suggestion is that they put a template that puts all biomes next to spawn with a village in each and a library in each as a tutorial world of sorts or whatever you would call it. I'd call it village metro

I like the idea of different biome villagers having a set trade list. Tho it’s gonna be annoying to get a mending villager cuz there’s no swamp village. My luck is pretty terrible so I’d appreciate if maybe Mojang just made a swamp village maybe?

The thing is: the librarian trading change and the ridding of the discount stacking for cheaper entchanted books makes it just SIMPLE and brings in a absolutely new missing difficulty and new value for in-updated villagers, the jungle and swamp villagers.

Super random but it would be a good idea for Minecraft to include a recycle bin in the game. It’s function would be to reverse engineer some items crafted in the crafting table to give materials back. I’m sure a lot of us have crafted items by mistake so it would be useful

This is available for Xbox and Android as well. Just don't expect them to run as good as a strong PC though. Xbox One X runs pretty good though if you turn down the anti aliasing.

I think what they should do for villagers is instead of making it biome specific, make it so the first trade is always low level but can still be reracked, then leveling up that villager gives you the higher level enchants. I.e. Unbraking 1 the 2 then 3 then mastery level is mending. This way reracking is still a feature, doesnt waste crazy hours trying to get what you want, but still makes you level them up at the end of the day if you want that coveted mending book.

How about breeding villagers to get particular trades? Sort of like if you have a librarian with say, Unbreaking with a Smith or something that has the other required trade, then if the baby villager were to be a librarian, he would sell mending.

Mincraft was always the easiest game IF you wanted it to be and the hardest game IF you want it to be. It was a sandbox for all , but lately, the dev's have been making changes only for the older players, taking away the easy, making it nolonger a sandbox for all

The change they made to the villagers was in my opinion very good. The enchantments aren't something essential for surviving, but something meant to be used in the late-game. Their goal is to make the trade with villagers just a secondary way of getting enchantments. It was never supposed to be the main one.

I agree. I'm not a professional Minecrafter or an expert Minecrafter. To my friend and I Minecraft has always been a difficult game, but all the pros are making huge machines and gather resources automatically and can very quickly max out everything, and it looks like the developers want to balance the game to fit the pros, while my friend and I struggle gathering emeralds to buy enchantments in our library so we can spend more time adventuring and building instead of moving villagers 50,000 blocks back and forth just to end up failing anyway due to the Anvil limits. My friend and I can't play 12 hours a day, it's difficult as it is to do big build projects like castles with enchanted tools, but if we have to dig for materials slowly with no enchantments, we'll never have time to do any actual building. I see people say that enchantments are for end game, but I don't agree. The gear are to be used during gameplay, not right before I stop playing, but if others want to wait to get their enchantments they can do so without taking away my ability to get any useful enchantments at all. Also, my friend and I have played for a couple of years now and we still haven't come across a Swamp biome, and we just recently found a jungle, and it's very very very far away, even when using the Nether to get there.

Villagers are OP and heavily exploited, but they aren’t the only thing. XP farms Iron farms Villager trades Enchant system Are all things that’ve been optimized too well by the community. There are ways for anyone to easily access resources like that which take away from the achievement of doing it yourself. While I don’t personally have “solutions” to them, I’d very much like it if there was a dedicated update to rebalancing progression in Vanilla Minecraft. Of course no amount of new features or remixed mechanics will prevent the community from finding, exploiting and popularizing META’s, but I’m pretty tired of the current META farms and strategies. Specifically enchants and “end game” equipment having 0 variety. People would fight it, but I really think a major rework is necessary to remove some of the kinks that the community has created themselves by creating and exploiting METAs and I’m very much in favor of anything Mojang could do to fix it.

I don’t think they are doing that anytime soon though. One time they unintentionally nerfed gold farms and then everyone was angry and they immediately changed it back. The devs said that it was unintentional and that they aren’t against farms like that

The things with farms is that you don't have to do them, thats why I don't think the devs should touch them, because you make them if you want to make them, is not somethig that is obligated for all players, is somethig that if a player wants to do to make their game easy for them they could d o it, because is a game were you can do whatever you want. You are not obligated to make farms on your world. If the devs change that the game will die. And also how poeple play the game doesn't affect you at all, you play the game as you want and others play the game as they want. Now for the villigers system, they need to change it, because is a core mechanic of the game that makes it really easy. But at the same time they need to do it right. If they only bring this change to the game it will really suck. They need to change other stuff, like the echantment and tool repair system, adding more ways to transport across the world, maybe add waystones. This change alone is really bad and just makes the game more annoying than anything else. We you change somethig specially somethig that is already "good" you have to give somethig better, if not itbwill just ruin the game. The devs are on the right tracks, but they need to do a lot more changes to other stuff first, like bringing the jungle and swamp villages that aren't in the game.

Maybe for the librarian villagers, for say mending you need a maxed out weaponsmith first to unlock mending. A maxed out fisherman to get aqua enchants, etc

Personally, I wish they did not mess with the villager trading. If I want a smaller more detailed world build this feature would ruin that experience. Sometimes I really wish Minecraft was the same Minecraft I fell in love with. It has changed so much. Sometimes the changes are good but lately I feel like I miss the OG Minecraft.

Java has had shader for like 8 years…. I agree the librarian village is OP.. but why tie the enchantments to biome that seems arbitrary. It seems fine if you had to get mending, unbraking etc from master villages.

If they are going to go forward with the villager change. To make it a Little less frustrating, when breeding villagers the childs biome should be determined by the biome it is breed in vs being determined by the parents. Yeah im aware that isn't realistic but makes it a little less frustrating for getting the type of villagers we want.

Afaik that is exactly how villager breeding works. There's no natural villagers in swamp or jungle, so you need to bring a villager there and it's kids will be swamp or jungle kids.

At least they should give the max level enchantment, not only the level 3 one, so we don't get too expensive errors on our gear when making fully enchanted ones. But even then, it's just tedious to transport 2 villagers into a biome, make them breed and then transport them back to your trading hall. Afaik they keep their biome spec from birth. It doesn't seem like a fun thing, the worst part of villagers is moving them around, this is more moving over huge distances, so it's taking the worst part and giving us more of it.

Okay, heres my solution for OP villagers. First of all, get rid of the biome thing. its just dumb and painful. The book trades should be priced based on enchantment level, with low level enchantments (effiency 2, unbreaking 1, etc.) being cheaper and higher level enchantments being more expensive (Fortune 3, infinity, etc.) and treasure enchantments must be priced the highest (mending, curses). Now, the biggest reason villagers are op is due to the fact that you can zombify them repeatedly to discount their prices to one emerald. That needs to go. Discount stacking should be removed, maybe capped at 2 cure cycles. This isn't perfect, but its a start. and its better than Mojang's solution.

Not sure if this'd be a good replacement, but they could instead make different classes of villagers (maybe some villagers have different IQ, idk something like that) where the higher the class of villager, the better the enchantments that they can sell. If they really want this biome-specific villager system, they could make certain villagers smarter on average depending on the biome you find them in. That way, villager trading halls don't have to be completely scrapped but instead, you may need to do a bit more exploring or villager breeding in order to get the best enchantments.

I think most people who dont like the change to villager trading are actually suggesting that the enchanting table results are changed if the villagers change is introduced. Because mending isnt even offered on enchanting table and the enchantments are random.

I like the villager idea but superflat worlds would have no use for villager book haul I think if mojang updates villagers they should let zombified villagers of all kinds spawn in all biomes to make all villager kinds obtainable in superflat

As a Minecraft Bedrock player since wayyy back (played on mobile first when I was very young, before eventually transitioning to PC once the Better Together update came out; it was Pocket Edition back then), this makes me very proud. Dw, I’m not one of those people who criticize the other Edition, since I’m pretty grateful to Java Edition as well. I actually experienced Minecraft on PC first with my friend’s copy of Java Edition. After playing for a while, I finally decided to buy the game for myself, and here I am.

6:32 Generally i like this change but mending SPECIFICALLY going to a villager type that isn’t supposed to spawn naturally (swamp villages), is kind of dumb. They should make other village types, jungle villages and swamp villages . It would also be cool to see cave villages and the jungle villages having tree houses but i understand that’s asking a lot. So at a minimum it would be nice if these biome specific villagers could spawn naturally.

Bro that, shit of making enchantments to specific biomes would suck. Imagine having to go half way accross your world just to get a mending book. If they don't want us breaking the lectern then placing it down again, the should add a learning feature to the librarian, were you would have to give the librarian a set amount of enchanted stuff with the enchantment you want either books or tools/weapons and that librarian will learn the specific enchanment so he can then sell it to you. it would still suck but it will be more engaging than going half way around the world to find the specific biome. Or a way to teach them, like a recipe, For mending you need a golden apple + zombie flesh some bs like that.

My least favorite thing ab villagers is breaking and placing the workstation to find the trade I want 😩 yes there’s a lot of annoying things ab them, but c’mon😭 just put a button in the villager inventory to refresh but maybe like add a “price” to refresh (like one carrot per refresh or something)

The villager trade changes aren't something I am happy about but I am willing to accept it cuz man once you got the librarians you want. The only I could want mob farms isn't even for XP necessarily anymore just for the junk drops. So yeah personally I'll take the change but if Mojang is willing to do this much I'd like it if they updated some changes to the enchanting table as well.

Minecraft Feedback page is going through maintance, so I can't tell Mojang my thoughts on this. I feel like instead of locking trades behind villager Biomes they could be locked behind some quest system. At least for the most advanced trades. what I mean is that you can level them up to Expert like normal, but to unlock Master Trades you have to do something special and depending on what special thing you do determines what Master Trade get's unlocked. It could involve Expert level Villagers being about to pick up more than just food items in their inventory slots and a particular combination of items unlocks what Master Trades they have. Frost Walker II? Bucket of Snow, X number of Blue Ice, a book, and something else? Honestly, if the game devs want to encourage exploration, make it be things they have to go to multiple biomes to acquire, maybe even something from all three dimensions so that the best consistent enchantments are locked behind endgame.... maybe even combine it with an end update to make exploring the End more lucrative? sadly I cannot reply that to the community post until after their maintenance is complete.

I'm struggling with the librarian enchanting thing. I like fixed enchants. I like knowing when I enchant my gear, it will have the enchants that I want. Personally, I don't that the regular enchanting system. Sacrificing experience and lapis for a random enchant just doesn't do it for me. I like that they are doing fixed enchants for biomes, but none of those enchants are max leveled. With the repair cap on your gear, you can't afford to combine all the books to put on your gear. If mojang insists on this new librarian system, I would urge them to either one: Allow the set enchant to be of random levels. So let's say thorns II is the master enchant for plains (idk what the actual enchant is), instead of it being Thorns II have it be Thorns I-III at random. Two: revamp the enchanting system to make it less random. Maybe make a way to choose a specific enchant to put on your gear. Perhaps there could be a refinement system where choosing Efficiency does not mean you will get Efficiency V. You will most likely fail your enchantment and get Efficiency I or II. But maybe you can get better and better at your enchantment skill to where you can get Efficiency V without a problem. This is my proposal. Get rid of the RNG and allow players to get specific enchantments. Maybe to avoid immediate access to all the best enchantments, add more enchantments that negate other enchantments. Like infinity and mending for the bow. Or frost walker and depth strider for boots. The different protections for armor. Add more enchantments so that there isn't 'the best set'. The endgame will always be Protection IV, Unbreaking III, Mending, Thorns III + boots/helmet enchants. I'd like to break out of that.

I have mixed feeling on the villager trade changes. On one hand, it does make it easier to get some enchants as trades. Given how bad the RNG is, it might not be that hard to find a specific biome, breed a villager and then level it up as a high enough librarian to have the enchant you want. I mean, it probably takes much more time, but is likely less frustrating. It also reduces the pool of trades you have to cycle through, to get what you want. On the other hand, you have the issue where villagers are annoying to move and RNG might make it really hard to get the biome you want. This is even worse, if you're on a fairly old world and the biome you need is really far way. The other issue is that non-maxed trades as enchants, don't work with the system at all. People get annoyed with trying to say roll unbreaking three on their cleric as a novice trade and end up getting unbreaking one and two. Not because those are bad enchants, but rather that it's impractical to combine you non-maxed level enchants until they are maxed because that means being able to have less enchants on your gear. The issue is that the work mechanic, is a terrible mechanic. I means I don't want my librarians to have low level enchants because those are trades I'm never going to want to make, unless I get really luck with how my other trades works or how things roll on the enchanting table. Where enough free work has been done, that I can drop a non-maxed enchant on to an item and not have that add on work that prevents me from getting another enchant. Either they need to get rid of the mechanic or the trades need to always roll with the max level enchant. Sure no work limit doesn't make combining a bunch of Unbreaking One books together until I get a Unbreaking Three particularly fun or cheap, but I would have the option to do it, if I had a ton of those books and the exp to spare. Honestly, another aspect of enchanting they should look at other than the work limit nonsense. Is also how it uses levels instead of actual experience points. I'm not a fan of systems where you use levels of something, while those levels get more expensive to achieve. Currently, it's reasonable tolerable in minecraft because levels are too difficult to get, but I've played games where you get the issue where doing certain actions aren't worth it, thanks to the higher levels taking so long to get. That said, it's still an issue that I look at enchanting figure out where a good break point is, hit that level. Then enchant and go back and get levels again, if I have any enchants I want because it's a lower time investment overall, than to say get enough levels to do all my enchants in one go.
