Why is the mister not demanding service-reflective tariffs instead of cost-reflective? In a place where there is no energy available.

Joe Ajero hit the nail on the head. The main problem is that they build political power plants instead of building in viable resource area. A friend an American investor was directed by a minister in past administration to build in an area outside of raw material aviability. He left and took his investment to Ghana. Today, his factory has grown into international exports.

He was the Head of the Nigerian Union of Electricity Employees. His working life was in this sector, so he knows the sector in and out. Unlike the minister who is an accountant by training. How can an accountant be managing Nigeria's power industry?

Nigeria is one of the only countries in the world without 24 hours electricity All our neighboring countries have 24 hours electricity I went to Benin Republic last month and was surprised to see 24 hours electricity They have electricity non-stop steady power Then here i am back in Nigeria In Asaba we don't even have meter in our compound Here sometimes we stay 4 days without seen NEPA But the saddest part is that whenever they decide to bring the light it won't stay for complete 1 hour Then you will only see it again next week This country is a disgrace of a nation The population in this country is too much for any Government in Africa to handle This country needs to be divided so that everyone will take care of their problems by themselves If we continue like this This country will continue to be fk disgrace 😡

If the pay is not reflective of the cost to provide that service nobody is going to provide it for you. Nobody's child was put on this earth to serve you so if you are not willing to pay the full cost of what it takes to give you that service stop asking for it.

Ajero has spoken well, but he also has to be aware that it is a global practice for Goverents to sibsidize sensitive products and services rendered by private firms that impact greatly on tue economy. However, the failure here in Nigeria is that there is no clear ebergy policy driving this subsidy. Subsidy initiative is supposed to support growth of the sector while ensuring stability of the product, they should ensure that these companies are providing effevtive services and that the tariff should truly be performance based. I am aleays critical of this APC govt, however the biggest failure here was the foundation and that was the companies that was thw privatization process which wasn't competency based. Most of these companies that took over the Discos didnt have demonstrattable capacity for this industry and the enrgy business. It was a disaster inherited from the Jonathan administration.

The government will do well to appoint someone who understands energy policy. It’s quite disappointing the government did not take care to appoint the most qualified candidate for this sector considering it’s importance to the economy. Let’s not forget the energy sector reform introduced my president Jonathan was badly designed and we are suffering for it The business model for the energy sector today is the reason we have no foreign investment. It needs to be redesigned.
