Professor Regina Barzilay, faculty lead for AI at the MIT Jameel Clinic, appeared on the PBS Nova documentary 'AI revolution' to discuss how artificial intelligence is transforming the detection of cancer.
Co-founded by Community Jameel and MIT in 2018, the MIT Jameel Clinic is the epicentre for AI and healthcare at MIT.
At the MIT Jameel Clinic, Regina has led the development of clinical AI tools - like Mirai, which can predict breast cancer up to 5 years ahead of mainstream detection techniques, and Sybil, which can predict lung cancer up to 6 years ahead - and she and her MIT Jameel Clinic faculty co-lead, Professor Jim Collins, have led the discovery of new antibiotic compounds - halicin and abaucin - using deep learning techniques.
