The Best of 3 series is a totally US playoff thing. I can see how traditional football fans would hate it. I say give it a chance (as it’s what non-traditional American fans are used to, and as it works well in all the other American sports).

The playoff system determining the league champion is a US thing. Every league here uses it: NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL. It’s just the culture here. The Supporters Shield (best season record determining champion) is a foreign concept to Americans, and that’s why not considered as important. Also, the two conferences (East, West) play vastly different schedules, so to me they should have two Supporters Shields, an Eastern Shield and a Western Shield. In terms of completely balanced schedules, it’s less important in MLS than in Europe. And I do think some inter-conference play (some unbalance) is acceptable unlike European leagues. The reason is all MLS teams are on equal footing because of the salary cap. So every team (whether from East or from West) are similar levels. Taking a racing analogy, all teams are NASCAR cars. In European leagues, there’s huge discrepancies between teams. Because of this, a completely balanced schedule is needed to be fair. The top teams have salary wages of >$250 million, while the bottom teams have

I really really want to watch more MLS games but in my opinion this 2 of 3 game system is absurd, why do we push to make everything about the USA sports playoffs system???? The rest of the world dropped the 2 of 3 games system five decades ago. No to mention the significant toll on players. Come on, play two games and add up all goals, scoring in soccer is difficult enough to be discredited by counting a 1-0 win the same as a 6-0 win.

Yeah I kind of agree, settling games on aggregate scores does make sense. Especially at the end of a long season

The best of 3 games are gonna suck. That's just too much football & it's so unnecessary to play 3 games cause it increases risk of injury

@@davidday2373 MLS clubs can only have 25 first team players & there's a salary cap so what deep squad should they build?

@@augustonembungu6721 A couple of things ... They all have a MLS NEXT and NEXT PRO squads, call them up. LAFC used their entire B-Team for US Open Cup for this very reason. Also... they're all in the same boat, all MLS teams are restricted by those parameters. Teams/GMs have to be efficient. Some teams spend $12 million, others spend $25 million and miss the Playoffs. Lastly... MLS could simply increase the roster number if Coaches, GMs, want it that badly (unless FIFA restricts that, or something) P.S. Avg Team Salary roughly Doubles every 5 or 6 years.
