Imagine seeing a "symbols have been compromised" sign then a minute later come across another one.

Imagine being an MTF operative and seeing the "do not be taken alive" symbol.

Jeez... this is creepy. Just imagine, you’re walking along, and you saw one of these symbols... especially “Symbols compromised” or “Alternate reality entered” or even “It is not human”... damn

Also worth noting, the "Do Not Follow the Little Girl" one referencing how often in horror stories/tales there is often a small child or figure that lures people away from their group/deeper into the haunted house/abandoned building/darkness. The symbol would be used to signify, "No, there is no small child that is lost down here, that is bait, stay together and avoid going the way it is directing you."

Nobody: "Don't give up" sign: *You feel relieved, energized, and just the usual amount of empty!*

Imagine finding the hostile environment symbol and being like "*Chuckle* I'm in danger"

the "you're being watched" one gets me the most, the creature isnt going to kill you yet, its watching you, and learning you, it wants to psyche you out

Seems like a significant missed opportunity, Silent communication would surely be vital in this line of work?

I enjoy this idea, it changes my view of the MTF boys. Makes them seem more like Witcher-type hunters than just a buffed up SEAL team.

I think the "do not follow the little girl " should be modified to "do not follow or pursue entity", do not attempt to follow a non-hostile entity or pursue a hostile entity in retreat.

The ones that creep me out the most are: unsafe place, get out fast, stay together, do not make eye contact, stay in the light, stay in the darkness, voices heard here, someone else is here, do not trust them, symbols have been compromised, you are being watched, do not fall asleep here, stay quiet, and do not be taken alive. So vague yet utterly terrifying.

"Symbols have been compromised" Definitely the scariest for me. Just seeing that gives you that despairing feeling, like, if you can't trust the probably dead MTF operatives who went before you, then what else can you trust? It can make you feel all alone in a likely hostile environment, and that can really be degrading.

Ah yes, "Do not follow the little girl." There are many reasons never to follow a young girl anywhere. Most notably in the case of MTF agents is that girl is likely somehow linked to an SCP.

Imagine you are Zulu-22 And you are given initial retrieval duty on an area where operatives (Epsilon, Nu, etc) have gone missing and the area is classified. Keter. You don’t have many men, you a Captain and you only have a Lieutenant, three Privates, and a former Sergeant; you have Epsilon backup bun they are a few hours away and command says, “Enter the area, Captain.” You head on in and the place smells, dogshit and blood is an understatement, the walls are practically breaking at the seams and the place has a dark brownish-red colour for paint. “Captain, you good.” Lieutenant Grey asks, “I am fine, Christ!” You replied with the smell almost affecting your speech, “Good Almighty, the smell of this place is the real Keter class.” “I am assuming if we didn’t have these gas masks, we’d have passed out by now.” “Either way, Lieutenant, the masks don’t stop the sheer smell!” ... “Fuck!” You hear one of the privates shout, his voice attracts the attention of the mission controller on the radio, “Zulu-22, are you ok! Over!” “Command 23, one of our men just shout, we are checking it over.” You and Grey run over and you see both the ex-sergeant and the other private hold the leg of the other private who will be referred to as Pt. 2 and the other private Pt. 1, “What happened, Pt. 2?” “SCP-173 is here, I swear!” You all look at him, and you ask C-23 to confirm 173’s position, “Site-19 called, he is scraping at his wall in his containment chamber.” You ask Pt. 2 to be serious but he continues saying that the Sculpture attacked him. These need to be in Secret Lab, just implement a menu system for specific ones relevant to the game.

It needs a symbol for Cognito hazards, SCPs that affect/attack the mind. Otherwise, this is an extremely wise idea for dealing with things like the leavings of SCP 184, and I'm surprised it wasn't implemented.

These sound like a really good idea. I could see them tied in to their current use by making the Foundation come up with the symbols after hearing of the Seprent's Hand's symbols from those MTF mentioning the symbols in Lessons Learned. These symbols would add a whole other layer of depth to stories involving the Mobile Task Force.

I think "Do not follow the little girl" means that the SCP will attempt to lure the operatives into a false sense of security, instead of it literally being a little girl.

To say that this was an interesting concept is an understatement - Some of the symbols were definitely spot on, though others could use some work.. I think we should see these implemented in the MTF's..

Honestly? Hell yeah! Its a hella rad idea and is very appropriate for the fictional setting that is the scp foundation, considering how it can be very helpful to other mtf soldiers. And if i were to suggest a symbol, it'd either be "memetic item here" or "zone of reality devastated"

It makes perfect sense and could be extremely valuable. There could also be a “do not read” (or something like that). Example, Site 13 had cognitohazzards written on the walls.

There's to be a lot of potential in these, so I'm putting a few signs that I think could be used 1. Change "Do not follow the little girl" to "Do not follow the entity" 2. "GoI in the area" General. Means "A group of interest was in/Is in/will be in this area" 3. "Hostile Agents in the area" General. Means "Hostile agents of a GoI were/are in the area, proceed with caution" (Had an Idea for this one where, if GoI's were given specific symbols in MTFs, then this and other "GoI specific" symbols could have an additional mark to show which GoI was being mentioned) 4. "Cognito hazard in the area" Simple. self explanatory, "A Cognito hazard is in the area" though it could be paired with other field codes to change it's meaning. Alone it could mean "A Congito hazard with an unknown trigger is in the area, evacuate immediately", paired with "Do not make eye contact" it could mean "A sight-based Cognito hazard is in the area, proceed with caution" etc

Some random basement dwelling conspiracy theorist would figure out the codes soon enough.

One of the reason they didn't use the field codes is because they don't pack markers/chalk on their gear. Its a joke, don't take it seriously...

I really like the idea of the MTF teams using two sets of field codes. The first set being a set of general codes used by all MTF and security personnel. The second set would be unique to a set of codes for a given MTF. My own canon has MTF who do explore extra dimensional or other worldly locations such as Mole Rats and White Rabbits using this practice.

This NEEDS to be an SCP thing. I can't imagine an MTF going to town without silent communication /symbols at the ready, and I honestly think they need to make this official!

mtf's have always been my favroite part of the universe. an amalgamation of operators recruited from SBS, SAS, GROM, SFOD-D, DEVGRU, Spetsnaz, JTF2, and so on. too bad getting anything on these guys is about as hard as looking up the aforementioned units.

The first symbol looks too much like the Foundation symbol. Some GOC member could see that and crap their pants.

I quite like these. I can see how sketching on the wall while in the field may not be feasible for many SCPs but it's an interesting idea.

Very unexpected idea but still amazing execution

I believe that it was a great idea and must definitely be incorporated into the MTF story line. It makes them seem more professional and efficient, especially in situations where your tech is failing you or in situations where you are uncertain of the outcome of your situation. It can also serve as markers when the same group needs to find their way back... especially when the topography of the area changes.

I believe the biggest reason they weren't used is because many SCP's are highly intelligent and can draw code's that state the exact opposite of what the SCP drawing them is.

I love this field code, i saw it for the first time in an artwork and i fell in love with it. The reaction of an MTF seeing one of those simbols must be interesting to write in a log or a tale.

Just imagine exploring an old building with your homies and then seeing "entity hostile" and "does not stay dead"

Something about my imagination with the symbols and the music has me looking around my room to make sure I'm safe.

tbh I really love this idea and wish it was something the MTFs did officially due to the fact that it could be easily expanded and gives the MTFs something else in order to know and gives them a little more depth and distinction from IRL Special forces, I'm sure there are probably plenty of differences but I feel like this is really cool and a extremely underrated concept.

I think the symbol should be part of the training for operatives that are expected to die. It should be a good way to communicate to future teams after the send team died or was killed in not easy to access zones.

3:06 I would add an X in between the two lines for the sake of comprehensibility. Otherwise, there is the chance that one may perceive it as "look at it in the eye(s)". I understand that there is one for keeping the object in direct field of vision, but eye contact is different and has often either been perceived as a challenge or as a sign of respect.

I remember a short story that used these over on 4chan. A small MTF unit is searching a subterranean area, finds a sleeping quarters with bunk beds of some kind with the symbols 'SCP has been here' and 'Safe place to rest' by the door. They go in, take a break, eat, maintain their gear and then get some sleep. One of the members of the team wakes up while the team is entirely asleep to the faint sound of something eating, looks up and the ceiling right above him (the ceiling was very low) there is two symbols written with a glow in the dark ink. 'Symbols are compromised' - 'Don't be taken alive'

Just imagine this scenario. An MTF operative is on a mission he hears a distinct voice. "WHOS THERE" he yells in a commanding voice. An entity speaks out:I'm not going to harm you I swear" it says in a persuasive voice. The voice is coming from a dark hallway. "WHO ARE YOU" the operative shouts ."Im' friendly I swear !" The entity says "Just come here" it says. The operator then slowly walks towards the voice disappearing in the dark. "Hey this is command" a voice from his radio says. "There are entity's here that can imitate human speech proceed with caution" He then sees the do not trust them symbol "Wha-" His radio then cuts out never to be heard from again.

Imagine following all of these symbols with your squadron only to up at a dead end with an entire squadron dead with the symbols “do not be taken alive” and “symbols have been comprised” written right next to each other.

The fact that 'Do not follow the little girl' has to be its own code is terrifying. But the scariest one as an MTF member would probably be 'Symbols Compromised'.

I can imagine why it was left unused . First of all the situations the MTF are usually in does not let them have a moment to rest to draw the necessary symbols . It also applies to the type of danger , that is too many symbols to draw for e.g scp-106 outbreak . Also the MTF usually always stay in groups and are trained and know if they have to kill themselves to avoid spread of damage . They probably also would be dead in order to get that information thus no way of relying it to others fast enough or due to them being dead or unable to communicate m( the case of dimension shift for e.g ) It was a cool concept but i think they have codes for scenarios and cameras and such .

Hm,these are awesome. My ideas for additions would be something like: "Stay off open ground: The SCP can only attack when you are out on open ground, avoid at all costs." And it would be like a stick figure on a line with an X through it and a stick figure on a line just above and to the right of it. "Resupply: An MTF squad has been in this area and has left supplies for anyone, MTF or otherwise, who finds it. Usually an indicator that you're in either an alternate reality or a heavily hostile zone." It would be an image of a magazine. Usually accompanied by the Safe Place to Rest symbol, but sometimes is accompanied with the Do Not Fall Asleep Here symbol, meaning that the zone has been compromised or is at risk of being compromised, and that the people who enter should take what they can and go. "Cooperate or Die: The area you are in/creature you face is extremely hostile to you and those around you, regardless of your group affiliation. The only way to have a chance at surviving is to cooperate with those you may consider enemies. This is an unsanctioned symbol, and tends to be disregarded. If the person who drew it is ever found, they are to be terminated" It'll show the symbols of the SCP foundation and any other faction that has came through or has been found. It'll then have a large X through the factions symbols, and have a number 1 put next to it. Usually disregarded due to it's unsanctioned nature, with the symbol only being used by soldiers who prefer self preservation. Though unsanctioned, some task force soldiers still learn it/use their own variations of it.
