FSU Athletic director Michael Alford revealed the moment he realized Florida State was going to be snubbed from the four team College Football Playoff last season. When he realized ESPN had sent a less notable reporter to cover their event than the one he sent to Alabama, he felt something bad was about to happen. Florida State continues their quest in court to break the ACC’s Grant of Rights. Seminole lawyers filed their amended complaint in Florida, and Judge Cooper set the next hearing on June 18th. Florida State feels they have found a loophole in the way the ACC characterized their TV rights. Can FSU win or at least force a settlement?
Hosts Alex Donno and Kenton Gibbs discuss the latest developments in and out of the ACC. The conference joined the Big 12 last night in voting in favor of the NCAA’s settlement in their antitrust lawsuit. In related news, private equity appears to be coming to college sports. Personally I think the CFP started snubbing in 2022 when they had Alabama jump Tennessee even though UT won the head-to-head and both had 2 losses. When Utah beat USC in the PAC-12 title game, the CFP wouldn't have Alabama jump Ohio State for the #4 spot (the Buckeyes also had 1 loss vs 2 losses). When no one complained about the UT snubbed, then the CFP felt emboldened to try it again.

63-3 against the practice squad and we still talking about the snub. It ain’t going away. ESPN had a lot invested in an SEC team in the playoff so get off the brand wasn’t big enough, if that was the case Washington would have gotten jumped 😂😂😂😂

I am in agreement with you. No matter what happens in the future of college football in the D1A level, ESPN and company along with multiple media organizations and outlets are going to ensure that the only conference to have never been left out of any playoff format is the SEC. The BiG10 with just one or two misses is to make sure that it looks good and legitimate in the committee selection process and those who are on the committee. Maybe Florida State gets crushed by Michigan or Washington or maybe they don’t. Unfortunately we will never know. All the AP people who vote had Georgia number one almost all year long. They didn’t want to look like fools; because, others said UGA were not as strong as record indicated and were beatable. All scoffed and laughed and said no way Georgia loses before making playoffs. But that didn’t happen. What did happen was an ugly BiG10 CCG win by Michigan fully loaded, got an ugly but hard fought FSU CCG win, a upset Alabama win, a huge Texas win, and an eventual decent CCG win by Washington. Everyone just knew that Oregon would redeem itself from earlier in the year and best Washington but did boneheaded things again to lose. The AP people, the committee, and all the networks and not just ESPN with their sole control, wanted to make sure or just knew have BiG10 champ, SEC champ, ACC champ and either another SEC contender or perhaps Big12 champ in Texas. So many had calculated if UGA falls that both would be in as long as Michigan and either Washington win or Oregon win and Texas lose and Florida State lose to justify multiple P5 champs getting left out. But that didn’t happen. Anyone who has a clue would say that the playoffs selection should have been the following: 1.)Michigan 2.)Washington 3.)Florida State 4.)Texas And the NY6 G5 bid probably should have went to Miami-Ohio or Troy at 11-2; because unlike SMU, both played two P5 schools on the road and lost one game but won the other. SMU played two P5 schools in non conference play and lost both badly. SMU had no grounds to stand on. At least Liberty was undefeated and didn’t play a single FCS team on their schedule. Hell, SMU struggled against a FCS team (albeit a very good FCS team) before flipping the switch once learned headed to ACC in 2024. Stuff like this only adds to the distrust that most college football fans not of the P2 have towards those two conferences and CFB structures.

Well, let's see; the fact that you're attempting to marginalize someone for their opinions and calling them out just goes to prove that folks such as yourself are either out of touch with reality or imbecilic... Possibly both.... So what 10 FSU players got drafted? Those players and others chose to not play in that game because they knew that they would have gotten skull-dragged. Let's not kid ourselves here. FSU, while they did have a good defense, perhaps the best in the ACC last year, won all of their regular season games against one sided or lopsided teams that either had a good defense or a good offense. They did not play any teams that were solid all around. And please, do pull the LSU game out of your funky back side so that I can dissect that as well. FSU's regular season last year of going undefeated was a fluke. It ain't happening this season. They'll be lucky to win 8 games behind DJ. No sir. FSU getting their a$$es handed to them by UGA in the OB game was all on those players that took the low road out and left their brothers out there on the field to get humiliated. Guess you can't really Trust the Spear or the Climb afterall.

You shouldn't compare the NFL to CFP. CFP doesn't guarantee Conference Champions a spot in the playoffs (the NFL does). CFP puts the 4 highest-ranked teams or who they feel are the best to make the playoffs like when Alabama didn't make the SEC Conference Championship, but we've put in the playoff

It happened the PAC champion multiple times, not UD, but snubbed ...B12 snubbed several times, even the B1G champion Wisconsin was snubbed prior to 4 teamPO ONLY SEC champ has been automatically in. PLUS, if you don't think ESPN had an advance warning it was SABAN's final season (but kept it hush hush ) , then you must not follow CFB very much. They obviously assured the committee they'd provide cover to get him in.

I really enjoyed your show. Seems fair. but for what it's worth this McKenzie Guy is a complete and total ACC Homer and his legal experience is an intellectual property. This case revolves strictly around contract dispute. So yes, you're right but I would take this guy's opinions with a massive range of salt.

The selection committee had to do 1 of 3 things: 1) leave out the SEC, 2) leave out an undefeated team or 3) ignore the result of a premier nonconference game. The latter two would both set dangerous precedents. However, unfortunately, the field changing from 4 teams to 12 teams next season makes leaving out undefeated teams something that won't happen going forward. Had the field remained 4 teams, pretty sure Florida State would have gotten it. The correct thing to do was leave out the SEC because Georgia and Alabama didn't have top 4 resumes. Alas, the committee was chickenshits.

1:36 I agree Alex. FSU should sue ESPN but they're not. FSU knows that they would be blackballed if they do. FSU knows that suing ESPN means no Big 12 or SEC. This decade FSU went 3-6 (2020) and 5-7 (2021) before going 10-3 (2022) and 13-1 (2023). People are just returning back to watching FSU.

What's an FSU? Instead of proving everyone wrong, they folded and got pelted 63-3. A win, let alone a substantial they might have a case, but they knew they'd lose, so they didn't even show up. FSU will be a looser in the ACC. Imagine how bad they'd get spanked in the SEC, just like the Orange bowl or their next Hard Rock visit. Chopping air, again.
