Is it not possible to give people outside of EMS the ability to treat some injuries? Maybe let the PD have some limited EMS training. Maybe not everyone, but a select few within the PD.

it taking 1.5 months to even get an ems interview prob has more to do with it than pay - even at 1300 it was not functional

1. Because it was obviously going to pass and he wanted it to be at least a little spicy. 2. He wasnt voting on the LASO, he was voting on making the Mayor the de facto commissioner until the official commissioner position becomes available and voted in.

3. Optics. hard to describe but the political optics of abstaining over the thing he fought so hard for while letting the chips fall where they may. He already knew it would pass in his seat so he abstained for multiple political reasons including so people don't accuse him of voting himself sheriff

False, Castle doctrine does extend to your vehicle to some extent. Depending on the state. "protect themselves and their family from an intrusive and imminent threat in their home, property or vehicle"
