Our son, Peyton, has wanted a pug for the past 6-7 years, but with his Autism, ADHD, and Oppositional Defiant Disorder diagnoses, we knew we had some work to do before giving him a responsibility that big. He's been working so hard in school, therapy, and at home and the amount of love he has for all living creatures showed us it was time. One day, when he was at school, we drove 2 hours away to pick up his puppy. Because he's rescued countless wild animals in the past, we told him it was a bunny our dog had caught. He knows Mommy doesn't do well with wild critters, so he was more than happy to help. You can see his restraint and gentleness when the box is lifted and hear the sheer gratitude in his voice."

Same here. About one thousand memories overcame me. I'm having a hard time with tears of joy and sorrow. Bitter sweet. That Thank you Mom caught me off guard and I see my long gone parents and my dogs.

That was beautiful! I got my little boy with autism his first dog this Christmas. Opted for a year old retriever/ lab mix who could hold her own with his cuddles. He is mainly nonverbal and he tells her, “Good girl” all the time. The smile he has when he comes home from school and sees his “sissy” waiting is worth taking a dog out at two in the morning.

That's so great ,telling her good girl I'm so proud of your son and I don't even know you guys ,my grandson Tommy is autistic and has ADHD yes a hand full ,but worth everything in the world to me ...he's 6yrs old ,but he is being bullied at school and I'm a mess ,my daughter has been in contact with the school and Teachers, who are there to watch over the church and not tell them ,don't be a tattle tail, ohh I'm so upset about this...one child has PTSD from the same child that is the bullie he sat in bloody pants all day in the corner and the teacher did nothing, I wish we could pit a video recorder on him ,but its against the law ,so what I said to my daughter' how else are we going to know, they don't want any volunteers, so what are we to do? My hearts broken...

It is not only a tracking device you put on your child’s belt, you can listen in to whatever your child is doing, they can call you, and you can call them. I wanted it to listen in on my son’s bus because the driver was not being nice to the kids. It sounds like you’re a great grandma , I wish my family would help out, and be apart if my son’s life more.

Being autistic myself, I can tell you that animals are incredibly wonderful for autistic children. They can interact with something that will always accept them and that doesn't require any work on their part to understand. I hope this kid has many long and happy years with his puppy.

@@janetskene3413 yes, veeeery touchy....🥰 especially for autistic Kids to get along with their (supposedly 😉🤭) "normal" environment can be a really tough challenge and it's such a big joy to really give them not just a moment of truest joy, happiness, feeling loved, appreciated but such a beautiful best buddy looooong term bond.....🥰❤ At least if he doesn't cuddle the puppy to death out of his overflowing Love....., just kidding 😉🤭❤ So gorgeous it made me cry for this boys happiness, puppies happiness, his good parents happiness and all our happiness watching their happiness, I guess we all would love to give this puppy to him, it's the maximum joy for any healthy Soul to create such joy for others, I hope the boy reads through all these comments to have a proof of the overall GOODNESS of Humans being so very happy for HIS happiness (and of parents and puppy's happiness) as it is not always so visible as here now with this beautiful Video. I would love to give him suuuuuuuch a long yummy sausage for the tummy of his buddy......🥰😝 And I just had to pray and send all of them (parents,puppy, boy)and all of us ALL the Love and Blessings of Existence from the bottom of my heart....😘❤ What a beautiful Joy his parents gift for their lovely boy created within all of us and how much Fun & Love the little puppy will give & receive, I'm soooo happy for everyone, LOVE , only LOVE....🥰🥰❤🖐

I'm not alone, the dear Lord is with me, through you. It was one of the strongest God moments I have ever had. How many years ago was your dog? I'm in my sixties and I remember the first one too. I did the same for my autistic son except it was an older toy girl poodle that had been abandoned that we found at the county shelter. The love between them is so pure. To think he is afraid of animals but she is his friend forever that he pets and talks baby talk to.

Not for life unfortunately, wish my baby Precious was still here with me had that girl since I was 10 she passed right after I graduated high school. I’m now 31 and have other animals that live much much longer, like my tortoise.

In November 2021 I finally broke down and got my kiddo a dog. It was the best decision I have ever made. We have always had cats so I was scared of the change. We adopted a dog that was about 18 months old. She has made this house complete.

"Parents understands what their children have need of" wow.. This is stupid. Animals should not be a gifts, but they are in many cases, next to toys and socks. They are hudge responsibility for many years. Its not a children need, its resposibility for whole family. Kid will grow up and go to collage or just move out. Think twice before "crying".

@@jeroenkappelhof I don't disagree, however my husband hasn't told me no yet. It's why we took in 5 dogs and a cat, rescued a bird that fell out of its nest, an abandoned newborn rat, and countless other animals. We can't turn away an animal in need 🥰
