I saw Genesis in the 80s. I was fortunate to see them in 2007 in Chicago. It was the last time I saw Phil jumping around the stage and drumming together with Chester. Phil Collins is huge part of the pop culture of my early adulthood. We all get old but seeing him bid farewell like this is so sad.

I remember..it was 1974..we listened to the Lamb Lies Down album in my friend's basement. I was like, who is this. I found the band that would be my favorite band for the rest of my life. Your concerts were incredible, and I've seen many. Thank you Genesis!

Sadly, Phil announced that the Genesis reunion tour was their LAST earlier this year. He ended his solo tour as well! What a sad way to end a glorious career with BOTH bands. His health had been declining since the early 2000s. I bought his book, " I'm not Dead Yet". He chronicles his entire health history, including alcohol and pain killer addiction, liver and kidney failure, as well as mental illness from the pain and inability to play the drums and basic human function

I was born in 1978, so I was very young during that period. But I loved the songs when I’d hear them on the radio. Since I was young, I didn’t really know what was going on. But just recently I found out that a lot of people hated Phil and were really nasty to him. I couldn’t figure out why. Now, like I said, I didn’t know what was going on. Maybe he was nasty to people behind the scenes or something. But I wonder if it was jealousy because he came out of nowhere with all those hit songs?

I think that some people got sick of his voice. He was also producing and playing drums on everyone's records. I think that he might have been a workaholic.

People like Phil Collins who have made their life from music never actually quit, Or retire... They seem to just switch gears to song writing and helping other artists get started. Music is such an important thing in their life, that it overwhelms all other things. It's very difficult to find a discriminating musician. Music is about sound. What you look like, couldn't affect that less!

Phil, you have brought me through many times in my life. many many years ago, when I was a teenager, Stuck in a Group home(cause no one wanted me) You, were the one I played. Your music was my salvation. As I did my time as a teen who nobody wanted, living at a group home, I could survive. I was able to endure, now 52, because of your music. You made an impression on my life; thank you very much for giving your heart and music; as a teen who was not wanted by a family, you gave me hope, and I am still alive today. Thank you very much, Phil.
