I have been a carpenter in my entire life since the age of 14 and I found at the age of 19 the awesomeness about suspenders keeping up the weight of what I kept in my pouch while running roof 15 hours a day... When I got into tree work I was 45 years old and I can't even supportthe monkey Beaver saddle enough because it is made by a man that has brought himself from an early age and lifeto become a worldwide arborist information encyclopedia when it comes to everything from a to z in the arboricultural field of the care and maintenance of trees

Oh yeah i can't imagine anyone having buyers remorse that purchases the MB saddle! I certainly love mine! I really like that swivel on the rigging paw and that retractable mini wedge, I may set mine up like that. Nicely done Patrick! This is one of my favorite channels, keep up the great work!

Glad you posted about the two bridges. That is what I have been running and I was thinking of switching over to the doubled system you had been using. I had not thought of just using both of them at the same time (duh) and then switching to using the separately when the time came. I love the swivel idea. It's brilliant. I'll be using that on my lanyard from now on. I hate it when the hitch gets twisted into the wrong orientation.

Suspenders make a huge difference, especially when hauling a bigger saw. I also carry a 5/16 endless loop sling and a hitch climber pulley. Near zero friction makes a huge difference when pulling up saws or rigging on tall trees.

I love my Monkey Beaver! I've been on the Weather Cougar, New Tribe Onyx, Buckingham Buckcat, Buckingham Ergovation, Petzl Sequoia SRT, Treemotion Evo, and now the Monkey Beaver. This one is my favorite, with the Evo behind it.

My first saddle was the Teufelberger treemotion. I am into it now for 2 years and I don’t have any experience with others so it hard to compare. I do like all the features of the MONKEY-BEAVER harness.

dbl bridge - cant believe i did not think of that - thanks, its gonna be helpful. I got a swivel on my bridge - have found that to be worthwhile. also gonna shift my lanyard to my lower rings and give that a try for a while. thanks for the tips.

I'm still pretty new to climbing so my 1st saddle is still in great condition but i bought a weaver leather 500 or something like that. It doesn't have the rope bridge and i wish i would have gotten one that did. It does what it's supposed to do though so I'm happy with it.

What a unique ending video song. I like it. A “little” tip to help with quality video production: fading out the music audio at a certain rhythm beat, so that viewers aren’t left “hangin” with the song all of a sudden just stopping in mid air. This makes a big difference on the viewers’ experience towards quality videos. 🙂

Great video I really like your setup I was thinking about getting the monkey beaver saddle but ended up opting for the Weaver Denali instead and I really like it so far the side D’s and weight bearing portion of the saddle sits lower on the hips instead of around my mid section and it makes using the side D’s much more comfortable than it was on my ergovation. The Denali isn’t setup for suspenders though but I see that I will be able to incorporate the monkey beaver suspenders so I’m planning on buying them. I just wanted to let you know that I have been watching your videos for some time now and I really enjoy them and I have learned a great deal from them. I would like to ask what kind of hitch cord you use? Climb safe and GOD Bless Brother. 🙏😇

I’m waiting for this episode so long. Thank you for your help. I’m very new in these stuff, I have no idea where to start at. It’s very curious every times you strap the chainsaw so quick. Currently, I just have the ropes and me, no belt, no pulley. This show might help me to decide the saddle is the best option.

hows it going nice vid .running treemotion here with hydra pulley on bridge/ r.i.n.g.o 20 ft lanyard with art postioner 2 to tend and at the tail made i made an ultimite lanyard with ocean 28 bidirectional prusik smc pulley with rocko pirate biners the triangulation positioning is sick.

I tried the double bridge setup because of this video, but my second bridge is longer than the first. If I want more pulling power I use the longer one to ascend. Once I'm up top I clip into the shorter one also.

I haven't had a chance to get a monkey beaver belt yet. But one day I will when the funds are right. That back support has to be comfortable. Cause I believe it looks like the highest back on a saddle that I have seen in my 18 years of tree work.

Not a every day climber but got that saddle u can’t say enough good things about it I put MonkeyBeaver suspenders on it bam that just made it even better so for me that doesn’t climb everyday an can get a little uneasy up there this saddle make feel better because u can make it fit u an made me feel more secure I would recommend to seasoned guys an the tinhorns like me thanks for vids I have mine almost the same set up as your 👊

I got a monkey beaver with their suspenders late last year, it was an obvious comfort to my body. My partner has a treemotion and he loves it but he has never been in a MB before. I've tried the treemotion several times, its a great saddle but it doesnt have the support that the MB has in the legs and back. The treemotion has a bigger market share because its been around a while and was the best option for quite some time but i think the MB will become mainstream before too long. Edit: i spent around $500. Five years is a pretty conservative time frame for saddle replacement. I'm inspecting my rope, bridge, and lanyard after every tree. I check my carabiners before i climb. The saddle i inspect every morning. If you do this then you can keep a saddle for +10 years IF you do proper inspections. Honestly, awareness is everything. Five years replacement period is too long if you have no formal training on inspection.

The key-bak or however it is spelled works well for a hand saw also.

I use a Drayer Tree Austria 3.2 and its great

Does anyone know if u're able to Clip in a tophandle saw (my 540i xp for example) To the RE Transporter, with the side handle of the saw ? DMM Vault doesn't work sadly...

I bought the Tree motion Evo simply because it has great reviews and it was available and right there in front of me....if the MB harness had been there to check out I might have come away with that instead. I am not displeased with my purchase but maybe if they get round to exporting to the UK I will get one....next time round maybe....it looks good...

i run a treemotion evo but i like the idea of having 2 saddles im thinking of getting the monkey beavor best of both worlds

So I really like using the lower D's, I'm using a treemotion saddle, but I found that when I'm gaffing up smaller diameter trees my friction hitch with contact the trunk too much so I have gone back to using the upper D's for gaffing and then switch to the lowers for positioning. Have been thinking about going back to a regular rope grab instead of the hitch so it's a shorter system if that makes sense?

What are your opinions on making your own rope bridge? I’ve asked around and I get mixed answers on whether or not I should use them. I currently use the sequoia srt and am unable to fit my pulley swivel due to the stock bridge terminations being to large. I was thinking of replacing the bridge with something custom to accommodate the pulley. Any thoughts on the subject? Big time fan of your channel...so I trust what you say.

Are your suspenders elastics? I have the same one no elastic in a alta verde buckingham saddle, i just add another bridge but with a static rope, what rope you used?

Are you still using the monkey beaver daily? How is it holding up? I have the Ergovation and the Weaver Cougar, but I have been eyeing the Monkey Beaver and the Petzl Sequoia. I use the Ergovation for fun climbs/easy trimming jobs and the Weaver Cougar for removals spike work. Its getting time to replace any thoughts on Beaver vs Sequoia?

Patrick, I have absolutely enjoyed all your content, Thanks, I just purchased and received the Petzl 2019 sequoia srt, almost went for the MB but opted for Petzl beings I’m a weekend tree remover, my question for you is about the rope bridge, I too have set my saddle up with two bridges, is there a certain bridge rope to use? My logic says I trust my life to hang on a 16 strand rope but is there different dynamics to consider when using rope for a bridge? Again I enjoy your informative videos I remember you saying in one video you started them to give your apprentice education, I in a way am your apprentice, thanks!

Does the second bridge wear the leg strap in the same hole bad?

I have the newer version of the M.B and I also have the older version of the T.M. Both are great harnesses in their own right and a combination of the best of both would be the ideal. I find the M.B very comfortable and gives great back support. The cons are that it doesn't have restraint straps for an I.F.A.K. I really dislike the rigging plates, they are black and I find them fiddly to clip into especially when Daylight is fading. The high viz green lower D's on the T.M are much better. I swapped out the original bridge the M.B came with for a T.M bridge, much nicer setup. I have been meaning to buy a D.M.M Focus for my lanyard, 👍 😁 🌲 🇨🇦 🇮🇪

The double fisherman’s knot for tying off the floating bridge is really a misnomer, as it is only half of the said knot and more appropriately called the poachers knot for what it truly is.

Hey man I’m buying a new saddle soon. Would you recommend this saddle over the petzl sequoia ?

Good day to you sir. So i have a similar set up and i have 1 rope bridge with a CT so i can adjust it. I used it on a couple jobs, inspected my rope bridge and i dont like it so its off. To the point, i love your set up and am working on it now as i write this but i have 1 major worry which i hope you can help me with...the second rope bridge will be tied to the center hole on the rig plate where there is already a harness strap running through it. From what i can see yours is also. I'm worried that over time the rope will wear on the strap. Have you noticed any wear or marks on yours? Thank you

And I'm watching the video again to see what size rings you have (aka same size or different). I run a lower ring on a medium bridge for tie-in (FemaleLumberJack's idea) and a large bridge up top with a large DMM Swivel (I think I got the tip from ClimbingArborist). I realized I don't want to do the redundant tie-in with a ring against a swivel. Then, there's what do we do if we are twin-lining. ARGH!.
