When I go live on Instagram, you never know what the comments will lead to. Robert Clark (@Fly_fishing_vet) asked for a Mop Crayfish, I thought about it and came up with this.
Its amazing what you can modify a pattern with these days with all the available materials. I haven't been tying as long as many of you, but I have seen tons of materials become available over the years and it seems like it is never stopping.
This Fly has not been fished yet, but will be used to target bass and carp. it will be tested next weekend so hopefully it will pierce some lips.
The recipe:
Hook: Ahrex Hook TP650 size 2
Thread: Semperfli wax thread 8/0 orange
Dubbing: Cohens carp dub
Eyes: 30 lb mono with uv resin
Hackle: Strung Rooster hackle orange
Antenna: Rubber leg orange speckled black
Arms/Body: Orange mop material
Body Dubbing: Fluff from the rooster feather in a dub loop
Weight: Lead Dumbell eyes
