@@LucarioDoT I play Shogun 2, the vanilla one, no modes. At first, I thought naval thing is important especially when prevent naval landing. Then I realized, if you want to naval supremacy it is impossible if you not christian. Therefore, if I stay buddhist or Ikko Ikki, I rather put strong garrison on coastal province Rather rely on navy stopping those. Because naval in shogun 2 is lame and for me it is sucks. Basically just floating box boarding etc. No cannon except nanban trade ship which you need to convert to christianity. The point is, you don't need navy at all to win the game, but having naval supremacy is good too although it is not necessary.

@@Monke-fj2qz That and there was a for the Japanese unfortunate difference in the basic hull designs used. See the Japanese, with their long tradition of and penchant for boarding action, used sharp-keeled "V" profile bottoms - those are great for straight speed (thus closing the distance quickly) but not so much agility and turning radius. The Koreans OTOH used the typical continental Asian flat-bottomed junk hull type - not as fast but rather stable and with good turning characteristics. (We may incidentally note that large modern warships of the classic big-gun era used similarly boxlike hull profiles for similar reasons.) In practice this meant the Koreans could usually sail rings around the Japanese and merrily blast away with their cannon. (And THEN you had the practically un-boardable turtle ships...) IIRC their few serious naval losses were all due to dumbass admirals who had the bright idea to engage in narrow waters where the agility advantage was negated and the Japanese could thus actually reliably get into boarding range.

@@Pilps historically the Japanese tried to take on a Portuguese trade ship With thousands of small ships made of shitty bamboo and paper walls They all got blown to shit and the trade ship only had one wounded man While the entire Japanese fleet was sunk

@@aldrichbalnazzar8214 in all seriousness tho the canon balls were stuffed With sawdust and scraps since they were low on gunpowder And only used few amounts of gunpowder the sawdust and scraps turned into shrapnel and killed the Japanese sailors Who had ships made of bamboo paper halls

Just in time as I finally beat my first campaign as the Tokugawa. Fun fact: Tokugawa mounted gunners don't need any formation for a full volley as they somehow don't hit eachother. AND they can fire and RELOAD WHILE MOVING. This means if you can keep your infantry alive while you micro you essentially have an m60 machine gun mounted on horseback which can melt enemy cavalry and bodyguard squads

I've binged all your videos up to this one. Fantastic editing! What I appreciated in this one was the added context of things like religious conversion and the stages of your conquests. In fact, I think I would like to see more context. Maybe giving a little more indication where on the map your armies are and give a little build up to your battles with the larger factions to build up the larger battles.
