I’ve been playing the trumpet for 50 years. Some people are arguing because this isn’t a fast, hard jazz solo with lots of notes and improvisation. That’s true, but it’s perfect. I can play this solo, too, or at least could at one time, but not with this sound or perfection. It’s not about the difficulty but the beauty. It is as good as one can play.

I clicked on this because the of title ... 'The Most Beautiful Trumpet Solo'. Indeed, her quality and tone are impeccable. However, this is a simple tune (by far, not the most beautiful I've heard), and those 'high notes' are NOT very high.
@user-sq7nj5tg5p
@user-sq7nj5tg5p Жыл бұрын
@@davidjewett5758 what do you get out of saying this? Anything above an A above the staff is generally considered a "high note" whether it's truly "high" or not. G and below is low, A to G above the staff is mid, and anything above that is high lol. It may be simple but centering the notes and playing with that much control and vibrato is insane. No need to toot your horn by bragging that a high C isn't that high to you on a comment that was only using terminology that every trumpet player uses regardless of skill level and range. You'll see people like Maynard or Winton calling a C above the staff high C even though they can play way above that. No need to be egotistical

Maybe you have and then fair enough but while I would say this particular piece is an easy one compared to Tina’s typical rep , her chops are ridiculous and the way each note just sings perfectly even the little semiquaver lines is just killer. “10x easier” for me is missing a crucial aspect of trumpet playing and the really cool part of this performance.

I played the trumpet daily for almost 10 years. Unfortunately, it’s extremely rare to find an opportunity to play something like this for an audience that would appreciate it. Trumpets are often used for accents or extreme effects, or a solo that screams out above the band. Also, nearly all players will clam up a note here or there, so composers tend to limit the time that a trumpet solo is exposed like this.

My classical trumpet hero. I added a comment to her A. Marcello piccolo solo. It is not just the tone, articulation and technique. It is the absolute beauty that she brings to the trumpet experience. I have also played the trumpet for 50+ years. I could listen to her all day, something that I cannot say for any other trumpet artists. It is worth noting that the score above is in Bb, that she transposes to C. I saw on a video that she starts out her warm-up on a Bb, and then goes to her C horn, as she just feels "it plays itself!" I think I have the same horn but can't agree with that statement 🙂! And to my fellow trumpet players, note that she uses NO pressure when she plays! No telltale lip "ring" after her performance. Unbelievable, but Tine, thanks for sharing your talent!!!

You mean the trumpet slightly inclined to the side? If that's it, it's because it's easier to finger the pistons straightly because if you push them down and slightly to the side, they get stuck and scratched. For me, it's easier to adjust the embrouchure, arms and fingers to play with proper posture and technique
@gertnood
@gertnood 2 жыл бұрын
Nobody is instructed to hold the trumpet vertically, it is always smoother at an angle to accomodate the mechanics of the fingers. That said many players have their own style to deal with that, it's kinda organic/personal in the end. But smooth valve action is aided by straight pushing with no side force.

Wow... Lovely beyond words to describe. Surprising how so many instruments which are usually accompanying ones in a symphony orchestra or in a brass band are absloutely lovely as solo instruments... Tine's trumpet here, the cello, clarinet, concert harp, trombone, flute, and many others, when played by a master of it who plays from deep in the heart, as she obviously does here. 💖🌹

The tone and quality of a master -- instead of the blaring of the merely competent. I had two friends in high school who practiced three hours a day -- and they came close to this level. Those of us putting in 20 minutes could play in a band but never pull this kind of performance off.

I can sympathize with you Carole. I graduated from High School at 17 in 1963. I was offered a full-ride scholarship to Juilliard School of Music on Tuba/brass and had played in a symphony orchestra as principal tubist for my entire Senior year in addition to attending High School. My parents forbade me to take the scholarship and relegated me to the Ohio State extension school at night. No music. One year of night school and I ended up in the military as a Hospital Corpsman. Now, like you, I am an RN, and have been for 48 years. I harbored a hate for my parents over the loss of my music for well over 50 years. Don't be like me, because it eats into your soul. Let go and forgive them. Then buy a cornet or trumpet and start playing again. At age 77, I am now playing both Tuba and Trumpet and enjoying musical life. It is never too late to start again, and easier than you might think.

Just so you're aware, that's a C Trumpet, which plays in concert pitch, so the sheet music is effectively written for a Bb Trumpet.

@errhka

I don't understand the difference? How does pitch change how we hear it in terms of the music? My music teacher said our alto saxophones couldn't play the part of the trumpets in raiders march because it was written in the wrong key/pitch? (they sucked at it lol) - but when we played their music it sounded exactly like it should sound. What's the deal with that and what did she mean?
@ZMaine
@ZMaine 2 жыл бұрын
@@errhka instruments are "pitched" in regards to their fundamental note. A trumpet's fundamental note (lowest non-pedal note with no valves pressed down) is a Bb below middle C (on a piano), so it's called a Bb Trumpet. The sheet music is written so that the maximum range of the instrument fits on the staff better. The normal range for a trumpet is an E below middle C to Bb above the staff. Since the fundamental is a whole step below middle C, the sheet music is written one whole step higher to accommodate. In regards to an Alto Sax, it's fundamental note is four and a half steps lower than middle C, so the music is written four and a half steps higher to accommodate. If an Alto Sax and a Trumpet tried to play the same sheet music, their notes would be a minor sixth apart instead of unison.
