Update: I have stayed in contact with show Low and the company was able to replicate the the bursting issues. The stuck firing pin explanation was speculated but not confirmed. Digging deeper there weren’t any parts failures at hand. what they found was due to the guns 1500-1600 rpm similar to the akv the gun can basically bump fire itself with almost no effort.

We pride ourselves in customer service and customer feedback. I can assure you that no negative or rude comments came from us on any platform. We thank Micah for doing a great video. We did a 5000 round test after this video and had no part failures. Firearm is not going full auto. Bump firing is the only thing we could do to duplicate this. This is a very fast system that has never been done before. Our F/A runs around 1500 RPM. Using the same system from our semi autos. This was a simple case of miscommunication between us and Micah and the information was not given fast enough on this issue before video was released. We take full responsibility for that. We have stayed in contact with Micah and hope for some new videos in the future.

You know Charlie is just a comedian on this channel, in real life he is a normal person watch the GThumb video on the shooting at the mall where the good guy took out the bad guy, Charlie doesn’t act as the fool in that one. Because Charlie is just messing around as a comedian and is not really a disabled person who has had one to many or not enough traumatic brain injuries to reset him to normal. I’ve had three TBM’s 1984 really screwed me up, I had memory loss and functional issues. 1999 I such badly bodily serious injury that I almost died and the years of suffering saver pain, rehabilitation and doctor perception pain meds really took a hard toll on me. Then in 2000 I got my third TBM and it actually strengthened my mental health and I quit all of the pain meds and I was thinking the most clearly since 1984. But I started remembering horrible events from my time in Afghanistan in June of 1981 to where I got with a USMC post traumatic stress disorder counselor and had to work with her to work out everything remaining huge chunks out of order at first, but I managed to piece it all together and I remember enough to tell the story of a new day. TBM’s and PTSD are very serious things that Charlie does not have, it is just an act of humor for our entertainment.

Geez, I wasn't expecting those likes. Anyway, both were paying attention at least. Charlie noticed and gave him the evil stare, the other dude stopped and looked over as well. And in the real world flagging happens sometimes. No-ones finger on trigger, in the end they were safe. Unless you have a defective gun, you gotta break 3-4 firearm rules to hurt yourself or someone else. That was probably the most minor safety "violation" I've seen on the youtubes. Go watch shorts for a while and you'll see legitimate concerns.

I've got three items they can look at. 1) The disconnector needs to have more engagement, this would fix an issue of it slipping during reset/recoil. 2) Assuming the disconnector has ample engagement mechanically speaking, the spring in of itself needs to be upped. 3) The fire control and its relationship to the bolt carrier group needs to be changed. If it is sitting too low as it relates the bottom of the carrier, it (the carrier) may not be providing enough downward pressure on the hammer during cycling to ensure the disconnector is catching within the timing window of cycling and is slipping when riding the trigger reset to prep the followup shot. You can test some of this on your own by not riding the reset during firing. if you simply let go after each shot and stop seeing it double then you found the problem. You'll just have to sort which of the three is at fault. But atleast this method will let you isolate the options down to those three. Cheers Boys, God bless.

💯!!! Awesome troubleshooting right here! I originally thought before Micah said what (showlo?¿?) said that it was a stuck firing pin which in mechanical would make it like a open bolt system. We all know that firing suppressed adds so much carbon and crap inside of the internals. Fix could be as simple as changing the coating on the firing pin, opening up tolerances to allow for more room. Adding a strong spring for firing pin reset, or adding one in general if it doesn't have one. Adjusting lock up timing so firing pin isn't possible to be protruding out when sent home. I dont have one of these black jacks so im not 100% sure how the system works. But your troubleshooting is something that any owner can do before looking into all this! 👏👏👏 love it!
@rodiculous9464
@rodiculous9464 4 ай бұрын
Depends if it's going "full auto" as they say or if it's going binary. The super duper light weight version of the alg trigger is known to do this if you ride the reset slowly, the hammer needs to jump off the disconnecter onto the trigger and in order to make the pull and reset short they make these surfaces have just barely enough engagement area and sometimes also due to variances in sheet metal ak receiver it can go binary.
@designiy
@designiy 4 ай бұрын
Absolutely. I have PSA's AKV with the ALG trigger and, as @rodiculous9464 mentioned, this does happen from time to time. On my AKV, I do not think it is the trigger (or trigger placement) so much as it is one of two things: 1) @darrynbrown9211's #1 2) Too much wiggle room planned into the bolt carrier travel path. I think a lot of smaller companies and budget focused companies find success with allowing wiggle room for the operating parts. It may even allow the operation to get dirtier before failure; however, it also introduces random and unpredictable forces in the bolt carrier to fire control interface. (I'm going to exaggerate to paint a picture) If it starts bouncing around while cycling and happens to hit the disconnect with an upward or rearward force, it could be enough to reset the trigger (bounce back) or otherwise bypass the disconnect. For the Black Jack, it could one or more of these issues (including the others noted by @Darrynbrown9211) and could have more than one reasonable solution.

Depending on the caliber, that can get super sketchy fast. .22LR would be easy to control, but a surprise .308 burst can get loose really fast. @DeadBeatDex
@DeadBeatDex 4 ай бұрын
Testing is extremely expensive and can even be, to a certain degree, an inefficient use of resources. Almost everything new that comes out will have problems no matter how much money and time a company dumps into testing. Getting feedback from customers is quite literally the best way to see what exactly needs work and how the product can be improved from then on because instead of getting data from tests on specific scenarios, you're getting data on hundreds if not thousands of multiple random uncontrolled environments. Just like how a test at school can only show so much of what you know on a subject, doing controlled tests on products won't be able to reveal all of the problems that could occur out of their control. Remember that even the most reliable products that we have today went through multiple revisions *only after users reported problems with them* and even now there are still issues being found with them. Yelling at someone who doesn't know what they did wrong doesn't fix the problem, it will only discourage and make it harder for them to understand and be better. Now look, I'm not saying that companies shouldn't take measures to test their products more thoroughly because they know that their customers will inevitably do it for them, but you can only do so much to prepare against unforeseen odds. You are absolutely right in that many companies are knowingly putting out products that they know does not function properly most of the time, but this specific case seems like it might be a new defect they actually don't know about.

$1600 😂 I thought it was going to be more like $700. Detent delayed blowback is probably one of the simplest methods of "locking" the bolt. You literally drill and tap a hole and screw in a 5 cent part. The only thing they really had to change from a direct blowback is the overall weight of the bolt. Yeah, it's different but should have been used as a way of making a cheaper delayed blowback system, not more expensive and less reliable.

As a collector, I appreciate when someone tells us about the issues an expensive gun has. Generally, you'd assume that $1600, $2200, $3500 and up guns would function near flawlessly under this kind of use. But, as with every type of product, sometimes manufacturers slap on a price tag that doesn't reflect the quality. And it's good to know before one ends up in the safe.

Unfortunately not what happened. I swapped my bolt and sent the gun back to show lo, had a zoom call with the owner, and simply relayed exactly what he told me to you guys as far as what their findings were. Ever since the video dropped they quickly changed their tune and are now saying that what they told me the issue was (sticking firing pin) is not an issue and is actually caused by the shooter simply bump firing. They could be 100% correct on that but they should have told me that when I sent the gun back for evaluation regarding issues. I don’t hold it against them I just wish they weren’t trying to paint me as being dishonest when I’m just telling my audience what they told me. So to your first statement - my gun got updated just a few weeks before the video released for a re film and part 2 with all the most recent and current fixes they have.

You can't run something with a locked or delayed breech that's tuned to unsuppressed usage because the higher pressures will increase your bolt speed and then all kinds of funky stuff can happen. Maybe the firing pin doesn't have a return spring and it's got tight tolerances or is catching on something causing it to open bolt due to the high bolt speed

the cmmc elite trigger or a fostech binary would be amazing in it. Even just the ALG, but the hardness of the ALG hammer is insane, so it may wear the bolt carrier. But then after a $150-$300 trigger you could have bought a b&t mp9, or really any other top of the line PCC. I do like the obvious upgrade of the vityaz platform, but the price needs to work on down fast or it wont make it. Also the white lettering probably turns off at least HALF of any potential shoppers.

As watching the video before you said what sho low said was the issues. I originally thought stuck firing pins from shooting suppressed. Suppressor are horrible about carbon and gunk building up in internals. I dont own the Sho Low Black Jack so im not 100% sure what the internals consists of but this possibly could be fixed fairly easy. By changing the coating on the firing pin/ bcg to something slicker that doesn't allow crabon to build up and stick to it. Opening it up and allowing more room. Changing to a stronger spring for firing pin or even adding one for reset (kinda like a glocks striker spring). Non of these could help too if it wasn't the original issue to begin with. 😂 ultimately $1600 is a good chunk of doll hairs and i would expect this to work alot better then what it did. But what makes a great company is there customer service and what they do after there are problems with there products. This black jack shouldn't have been released till every was solid and good to go!

This felt a little harsh and to be fair deservingly so - no excuses for malfunctions. But to be fair, my MPX has thrown me for a loop a few times. Perhaps becuase of reman ammo, but either way - my Scorpion for example has never not gone bang

I have a AR9 with a PSA gen 4 upper, KE arms lower, and a Maxim RDB. Its a really nice system, and pretty close in shootibilty to my friends PTR MP5 clone. Plus it weighs around 8 oz less which is a nice bonus. All in $750

Fluting the firin pin and giving it an overtravel stop towards the rear of the bolt may be the fix. I havent seen the firing pin design but im assuming it doesnt have a return spring or its completely round.

Increasing dwell time could help reduce fouling, changing lifters in my MEAN to a longer dwell made it run a lot cleaner. Obv it wouldnt fix the runaway issue but might still be helpful, at least suppressed. Agree the answer they gave wasnt good, but would like to see more of it in the future with some fixes. Another poster below had a few more suggestions too. Hope they can get the product dialed in.

my SKS thats older than me and is famous for sticky firing pins can go over 400 rounds uncleaned&unlubed before the bolt even gets close to sticking slightly. with TulaAmma too, shit it dirty. This is unacceptable for a firearm and shouldn't be put to the market.

Watching it again, it’s a lot of gas escaping in the trigger area. There’s a lot of back pressure and the can is forcing gas and trash back into the receivers.

Whether the "Sticky firing pin" answer is acceptable to you or not, if it's correct then they may have identified the problem. It's an open bolt mechanism and inertia does funny things. Have you considered cleaning the bolt thoroughly at certain intervals? This would potentially eliminate the possible issue or even increase the probability that's the problem, which is an easy fix. Another possible problem could be the trigger. My Ak74 started doubling and I was able to find excessive wear on the disconnector. With a new gun, seeing an issue like that could point at a potential problem in their parts manufacturing process. Perhaps the heat treat is sub-par. Maybe a batch of parts weren't heat treated at all. I enjoy what you do, and I do think what you've actually discovered is that they aren't doing a thorough job at stress testing their product. For the price point, they should be running a few of them to failure regularly.

@@jeremym2411 That's laughable; anyone with physical access to one (bought or rented) could weight the bolt in seconds and measure the spring rate in little more than that. I'm curious about the bolt weight because this smells a lot like magnet delayed blowback (which is to say, simple blowback with extra steps).

The only other gun I’ve seen have a stuck firing pin issue is very dirty SKS’s made in the 1950s. Beyond that bursting is usually hammer follow from a malfunctioning trigger. They need to get this issue resolved before bringing it to market.

"Thank God it does not use proprietary magazines".......you know, CZ scorpion mags are proprietary to the CZ scorpion, and without CZ choosing to use proprietary magainzes in their scorpion gun design, we would not have that option available to us. I guess my point is, even glock mags, were proprietary at first. Until they were not anymore.

The issue is in the operating system. The bolt isn't going far back enough to cock the gun but it's enough to pick up another round. The hammer fallows the bolt home acting like a fixed firing pin. Happens from time to time on my dedicated .22 AR.
