Triggers are important to achieve that sound, but don't forget you're probably hearing a good bit of beat quantization and Pro Tools magic as well.

Well, Aaron has admitted online that he records each song in sections and pastes them together in ProTools. He also admits that the third record was totally programmed, although he claims he never programs anything he can't actually play. Also, have you ever wondered why there IS NO LIVE Infant Annihaltor footage online? We only get to see edited video clips of his performances. Hmmmm. Also, I've sat on both sides of the recording console and can tell you that it's super rare for a drummer, especially an extreme metal drummer, to NOT have tracks cleaned up in production. Sure, I envy his talent, but there is nothing "loser" about my statement. It's simply the truth. I'm absolutely willing to believe that he can play 95% of what you hear, but I'm also willing to bet that his tracks are cleaned up like everyone else's. If you are a drummer, you already know.@@TheChzoronzon

It's hard to tell because we are watching an edited video. We aren't seeing a single, live take. So, the chances that he is performing flawlessly enough to avoid beat quantization and editing in the production phase are very slim at those speeds. Do I believe he can play that fast? Yes. Can he do it flawlessly? No. Can he do it in one take? Probably not. Are we hearing an unedited audio track. Absolutely not. Still takes tremendous talent to do what he manages to do. I'm just a realist with real world experience of my own. @@TheChzoronzon

I hear a human performance, not a grid... and neither does Jorge, that you'll admit is quite knowledgeable on the issue... For me, this is a 100% case of people being anal, cause the crappy quality of the image, and its low framerate, gives them the perfect excuse to be Captain Smartass... but ey, maybe I'm wrong and there's no malice at all in those that started the rumor... I don't take it personally. I simply know what goes on in a professional recording studio, and it's pretty easy to find out what Aaron himself has said about the matter. There are also a number of other reaction videos available on this particular track if you care to see what others think, but it sounds like you're pretty prejudiced against any sort of criticism. Way to go man ! It's never too late ! It's actually too late if you never start ! I work for a musicshop online and since the shitshow called Covid, I have a lot of customers starting to play instruments at 50, 60 or even 70 because it was their dream but never had the time or chance to do it before. I love that. And I encourage them ! And having El Estepario Siberiano as an inspiration and motivation that's great ! He is a very positive dude ! Pursue your dream bro, don't give up, and most importantly : don't be too hard on yourself. I'll finish in French (I see that you speak it) : amuse-toi et prends du plaisir, c'est le plus important !

I really love this video, because it uses a combination of raw audio, and commentary from a talented drummer who knows what he's talking about, to prove that Aaron Kitcher really is that good, and that all the triggers and such that he uses are not a crutch, but a tool to further enhance the music.

Please take a look/reaction to Evgeny Novikov from when he was playing in Katalepsy (tracks such as Blindead Sultan or Knifed Humility). He is a very talented drummer and is very technical as well as fast; he was one of the reasons I got into drumming!

Yes! Lyle is sick! He's the one that actually wrote the drums on Planetary Duality (which is a masterpiece btw). It's funny that you say he looks possessed, because some crazy Christian conspiracy theorists were using footage of him playing Planetary Duality as proof of a musician that sold their soul to the devil and is possessed 🤣. I guess it's a pretty good compliment when you're so good that normies think you must be possessed lol.

He’s another awesome drummer I wish was still out here blasting away on the drums. Sadly I think both he and Lyle are now working 9-5s like the rest us :(
